 2:1 ¶
Say to your brother, My people, and to your sister, Pitied. |
|
 2:1 ¶
Sayºº
ye unto your brethren,º
Ammi;º
and to your sisters,º
Ruhamah.ºº |
 2:2
Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband: and I will remove her fornication out of my presence, and her adultery from between her breasts: |
|
 2:2
Pleadºº
with your mother,º
plead:ºº
forº
sheº
[is] notº
my wife,º
neitherº
[am] Iº
her husband:º
let her therefore put awayºº
her whoredomsº
out of her sight,ºº
and her adulteriesº
from betweenºº
her breasts;º |
 2:3
that I may strip her naked, and make her again as she was at the day of her birth: and I will make her desolate, and make her as a dry land, and will kill her with thirst. |
|
 2:3
Lestº
I stripºº
her naked,º
and setºº
her as in the dayº
that she was born,ºº
and makeºº
her as a wilderness,º
and setºº
her like a dryº
land,º
and slayºº
her with thirst.º |
 2:4
And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they are children of fornication. |
|
 2:4
And I will notº
have mercyºº
uponº
her children;º
forº
theyº
[be] the childrenº
of whoredoms.º |
 2:5
And their mother went a-whoring: she that bore them disgraced [them]: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, and my garments, and my linen clothes, my oil and my necessaries. |
|
 2:5
Forº
their motherº
hath played the harlot:ºº
she that conceivedºº
them hath done shamefully:ººº
forº
she said,ºº
I will goººº
afterº
my lovers,ºº
that giveºº
[me] my breadº
and my water,º
my woolº
and my flax,º
mine oilº
and my drink.º |
 2:6 ¶
Therefore, behold, I hedge up her way with thorns, and I will stop the ways, and she shall not find her path. |
|
 2:6 ¶
Therefore,º
behold,º
I will hedgeºº
upºº
thy wayº
with thorns,º
and makeººº
a wall,º
that she shall notº
findºº
her paths.º |
 2:7
And she shall follow after her lovers, and shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: and she shall say, I will go, and return to my former husband; for it was better with me than now. |
|
 2:7
And she shall followºº
afterºº
her lovers,ºº
but she shall notº
overtakeºº
them; and she shall seekºº
them, but shall notº
findºº
[them]: then shall she say,ºº
I will goººº
and returnºº
toº
my firstº
husband;º
forº
thenº
[was it] betterº
with me than now.ºº |
 2:8
And she knew not that I gave her her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied silver to her: but she made silver and gold [images] for Baal. |
|
 2:8
For sheº
did notº
knowºº
thatº
Iº
gaveºº
her corn,º
and wine,º
and oil,º
and multipliedºº
her silverº
and gold,º
[which] they preparedºº
for Baal.º |
 2:9
Therefore I will return, and take away my corn in its season, and my wine in its time; and I will take away my raiment and my linen clothes, so that she shall not cover her nakedness. |
|
 2:9
Thereforeº
will I return,ºº
and take awayºº
my cornº
in the timeº
thereof, and my wineº
in the seasonº
thereof, and will recoverºº
my woolº
and my flaxº
[given] to coverººº
her nakedness.º |
 2:10
And now I will expose her uncleanness before her lovers, and no one shall by any means deliver her out of my hand. |
|
 2:10
And nowº
will I discoverººº
her lewdnessº
in the sightº
of her lovers,ºº
and noneºº
shall deliverºº
her out of mine hand.ºº |
 2:11
And I will take away all her gladness, her feasts, and her festivals at the new moon, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies. |
|
 2:11
I will also cause allº
her mirthº
to cease,ºº
her feast days,º
her new moons,º
and her sabbaths,º
and allº
her solemn feasts.º |
 2:12
And I will utterly destroy her vines, and her fig-trees, all things of which she said, These are my hire which my lovers have given me: and I will make them a testimony, and the wild beasts of the field, and the birds of the sky, and the reptiles of the earth shall devour them. |
|
 2:12
And I will destroyºº
her vinesº
and her fig trees,º
whereofº
she hath said,ºº
Theseº
[are] my rewardsº
thatº
my loversºº
have givenºº
me: and I will makeºº
them a forest,º
and the beastsº
of the fieldº
shall eatºº
them. |
 2:13
And I will recompense on her the days of Baalim, wherein she sacrificed to them, and put on her ear-rings, and her necklaces, and went after her lovers, and forgot me, saith the Lord. |
|
 2:13
And I will visitºº
uponº
herº
the daysº
of Baalim,º
whereinº
she burned incenseºº
to them, and she deckedºº
herself with her earringsº
and her jewels,º
and she wentººº
afterº
her lovers,ºº
and forgatºº
me, saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 2:14 ¶
Therefore, behold, I [will] cause her to err, and will make her as desolate, and will speak comfortably to her. |
|
 2:14 ¶
Therefore,º
behold,º
Iº
will allureºº
her, and bringººº
her into the wilderness,º
and speakºº
comfortablyºº
unto her. |
 2:15
And I will giver her possessions from thence, and the valley of Achor to open her understanding: and she shall be afflicted there according to the days of her infancy, and according to the days of her coming up out of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}. |
|
 2:15
And I will giveºº
herº
her vineyardsº
from thence,ºº
and the valleyº
of Achorº
for a doorº
of hope:º
and she shall singºº
there,º
as in the daysº
of her youth,º
and as in the dayº
when she came upºº
out of the landºº
of Egypt.º |
 2:16
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, [that] she shall call me, My husband, and shall no longer call me Baalim. |
|
 2:16
And it shall beº
at thatº
day,º
saithºº
Yahweh,º
[that] thou shalt callºº
me Ishi;º
and shalt callºº
me noº
moreº
Baali.º |
 2:17
And I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and their names shall be remembered no more at all. |
|
 2:17
For I will take awayººº
the namesº
of Baalimº
out of her mouth,ºº
and they shall noº
moreº
be rememberedºº
by their name.º |
 2:18
And I will make for them in that day a covenant with the wild beasts of the field, and with the birds of the sky, and with the reptiles of the earth: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle from off the earth, and will cause thee to dwell safely. |
|
 2:18
And in thatº
dayº
will I makeºº
a covenantº
for them withº
the beastsº
of the field,º
and withº
the fowlsº
of heaven,º
and [with] the creeping thingsº
of the ground:º
and I will breakºº
the bowº
and the swordº
and the battleº
out ofº
the earth,º
and will make them to lie downºº
safely.º |
 2:19
And I will betroth thee to myself for ever; yea, I will betroth thee to myself in righteousness, and in judgment, and in mercy, and in tender compassions; |
|
 2:19
And I will betrothºº
thee unto me for ever;º
yea, I will betrothºº
thee unto me in righteousness,º
and in judgment,º
and in lovingkindness,º
and in mercies.º |
 2:20
and I will betroth thee to myself in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the Lord. |
|
 2:20
I will even betrothºº
thee unto me in faithfulness:º
and thou shalt knowººº
Yahweh.º |
 2:21
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, I will hearken to the heaven, and it shall hearken to the earth; |
|
 2:21
And it shall come to passº
in thatº
day,º
I will hear,ºº
saithºº
Yahweh,º
I will hearººº
the heavens,º
and theyº
shall hearººº
the earth;º |
 2:22
and the earth shall hearken to the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hearken to Jezreel{gr.Jezrael}. |
|
 2:22
And the earthº
shall hearººº
the corn,º
and the wine,º
and the oil;º
and theyº
shall hearººº
Jezreel.º |
 2:23
And I will sow her to me on the earth; and will love her that was not loved, and will say to that which was not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art the Lord my God. |
|
 2:23
And I will sowºº
her unto me in the earth;º
and I will have mercyºº
uponºº
her that had notº
obtained mercy;ºººº
and I will sayºº
to [them which were] notº
my people,º
Thouº
[art] my people;º
and theyº
shall say,ºº
[Thou art] my Elohim.º |
