 7:1 ¶
When I have healed Israel, then shall the iniquity of Ephraim be revealed, and the wickedness of Samaria; for they have wrought falsehood: and a thief shall come in to him, [even] a robber spoiling in his way; |
|
 7:1 ¶
When I would have healedºº
Israel,º
then the iniquityº
of Ephraimº
was discovered,ºº
and the wickednessº
of Samaria:º
forº
they commitºº
falsehood;º
and the thiefº
cometh in,ºº
[and] the troopº
of robbersº
spoilethºº
without.º |
 7:2
that they may concert together as [men] singing in their heart: I remember all their wickedness: now have their own counsels compassed them about; they came before my face. |
|
 7:2
And they considerºº
notº
in their heartsº
[that] I rememberºº
allº
their wickedness:º
nowº
their own doingsº
have beset them about;ºº
they areº
beforeº
my face.º |
 7:3
They gladdened kings with their wickedness, and princes with their lies. |
|
 7:3
They make the kingº
gladººº
with their wickedness,º
and the princesº
with their lies.º |
 7:4
They are all adulterers, as an oven glowing with flame for hot-baking, on account of the kneading of the dough, until it is leavened. |
|
 7:4
They [are] allº
adulterers,ºº
asº
an ovenº
heatedºº
byº
the baker,ºº
[who] ceasethºº
from raisingººº
after he hath kneadedººº
the dough,º
untilº
it be leavened.ºº |
 7:5
[In] the days of our kings, the princes began to be inflamed with wine: he stretched out his hand with pestilent fellows. |
|
 7:5
In the dayº
of our kingº
the princesº
have made [him] sickºº
with bottlesº
of wine;ºº
he stretched outºº
his handº
withº
scorners.ºº |
 7:6
Wherefore their hearts are inflamed as an oven, while they rage all the night: Ephraim is satisfied with sleep; the morning is come; he is burnt up as a flame of fire. |
|
 7:6
Forº
they have made readyºº
their heartº
like an oven,º
whiles they lie in wait:ºº
their bakerºº
sleepethº
allº
the night;º
in the morningº
itº
burnethºº
as a flamingº
fire.º |
 7:7
They are all heated like an oven, and have devoured their judges: all their kings are fallen; there was not among them one that called on me. |
|
 7:7
They are all hotººº
as an oven,º
and have devouredººº
their judges;ºº
allº
their kingsº
are fallen:ºº
[there is] noneº
among them that callethºº
untoº
me. |
 7:8
Ephraim is mixed among his people; Ephraim became a cake not turned. |
|
 7:8
Ephraim,º
heº
hath mixedºº
himselfº
among the people;º
Ephraimº
isº
a cakeº
notº
turned.ºº |
 7:9
Strangers devoured his strength, and he knew [it] not; and grey hairs came upon him, and he knew [it] not. |
|
 7:9
Strangersºº
have devouredºº
his strength,º
and heº
knowethºº
[it] not:º
yea,º
gray hairsº
are here and thereºº
upon him, yet heº
knowethºº
not.º |
 7:10
And the pride of Israel shall be brought down before his face: yet they have not returned to the Lord their God, neither have they diligently sought him for all this. |
|
 7:10
And the prideº
of Israelº
testifiethºº
to his face:º
and they do notº
returnºº
toº
Yahwehº
their Elohim,º
norº
seekºº
him for allº
this.º |
 7:11 ¶
And Ephraim was as a silly dove, not having a heart: he called to Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, and they went to the Assyrians. |
|
 7:11 ¶
Ephraimº
also isº
like a sillyºº
doveº
withoutº
heart:º
they callºº
to Egypt,º
they goºº
to Assyria.º |
 7:12
Whenever they shall go, I will cast my net upon them; I will bring them down as the birds of the sky, I will chasten them with the rumor of their [coming] affliction. |
|
 7:12
Whenº
they shall go,ººº
I will spreadºº
my netº
uponº
them; I will bring them downºº
as the fowlsº
of the heaven;º
I will chastiseºº
them, as their congregationº
hath heard.º |
 7:13
Woe to them! for they have started aside from me: they are cowards; for they have sinned against me: yet I redeemed them, but they spoke falsehoods against me. |
|
 7:13
Woeº
unto them! forº
they have fledºº
fromº
me: destructionº
unto them! becauseº
they have transgressedºº
against me: though Iº
have redeemedºº
them, yet theyº
have spokenºº
liesº
againstº
me. |
 7:14
And their hearts did not cry to me, but they howled on their beds: they pined for oil and wine. |
|
 7:14
And they have notº
criedºº
untoº
me with their heart,º
whenº
they howledºº
uponº
their beds:º
they assembleºº
themselvesº
forº
cornº
and wine,º
[and] they rebelºº
against me. |
 7:15
They were instructed by me, and I strengthened their arms; and they devised evils against me. |
|
 7:15
Though Iº
have boundºº
[and] strengthenedºº
their arms,º
yet do they imagineºº
mischiefº
againstº
me. |
 7:16
They turned aside to that which is not, they became as a bent bow: their princes shall fall by the sword, by reason of the unbridled state of their tongue: this is their setting at nought in the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}. |
|
 7:16
They return,ºº
[but] notº
to the most High:º
they areº
like a deceitfulº
bow:º
their princesº
shall fallºº
by the swordº
for the rageºº
of their tongue:º
thisº
[shall be] their derisionº
in the landº
of Egypt.º |
