Thou shalt notº

them: thou shalt in any caseºº
bring them againºº
unto thy brother.º |

 22:1 ¶
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again unto thy brother. |
 22:2
And ifº
thy brotherº
[be] notº
nighº
untoº
thee, or if thou knowºº
him not,º
then thou shalt bringºº
it untoºº
thine own house,º
and it shall beº
withº
thee untilº
thy brotherº
seekºº
afterº
it, and thou shalt restoreº
it to him again.ºº |

 22:2
And if thy brother [be] not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again. |
 22:3
In like mannerº
shalt thou doºº
with his ass;º
and soº
shalt thou doºº
with his raiment;º
and with allº
lost thingº
of thy brother's,º
whichº
he hath lost,ºº
and thou hast found,ºº
shalt thou doºº
likewise:º
thou mayestºº
notº
hideºº
thyself.º |

 22:3
In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself. |

Thou shalt notº

fall downºº
by the way,º
and hideºº
thyselfº
fromº
them: thou shalt surelyºº
help him to lift [them] up again.ººº |

 22:4 ¶
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift [them] up again. |
 22:5 ¶
The womanº
shall notº
wearº
that which pertainethº
unto a man,º
neitherº
shall a manº
putºº
onº
a woman'sº
garment:º
forº
allº
that doºº
soº
[are] abominationº
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
thy
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.º |

 22:5 ¶
The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so [are] abomination unto Yahweh thy Elohim. |
 22:6 ¶
Ifº
a bird'sº
nestº
chanceºº
to beº
beforeº
thee in the wayº
in anyº
tree,º
orº
onº
the ground,º
[whether they be] young ones,º
orº
eggs,º
and the damº
sittingºº
uponº
the young,º
orº
uponº
the eggs,º
thou shalt notº
takeºº
the damº
withº
the young:º |

 22:6 ¶
If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, [whether they be] young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young: |
 22:7
[But] thou shalt in any wiseººº
let the damº
go,ºº
and takeºº
the youngº
to thee; thatº
it may be wellºº
with thee, and [that] thou mayest prolongºº
[thy] days.º |
|
 22:7
[But] thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and [that] thou mayest prolong [thy] days. |
 22:8 ¶
Whenº
thou buildestºº
a newº
house,º
then thou shalt makeºº
a battlementº
for thy roof,º
that thou bringºº
notº
bloodº
upon thine house,º
ifº
any manºº
fallºº
fromº
thence. |

 22:8 ¶
When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence. |
 22:9 ¶
Thou shalt notº
sowºº
thy vineyardº
with divers seeds:º
lestº
the fruitº
of thy seedº
whichº
thou hast sown,ºº
and the fruitº
of thy vineyard,º
be defiled.ºº |

 22:9 ¶
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled. |
 22:10 ¶
Thou shalt notº
plowºº
with an oxº
and an assº
together.º |
|
 22:10 ¶
Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. |
 22:11 ¶
Thou shalt notº
wearºº
a garment of divers sorts,º
[as] of woollenº
and linenº
together.º |
|
 22:11 ¶
Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, [as] of woollen and linen together. |
 22:12 ¶
Thou shalt makeºº
thee fringesº
uponº
the fourº
quartersº
of thy vesture,º
wherewithº
thou coverestºº
[thyself]. |
|
 22:12 ¶
Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest [thyself]. |
 22:13 ¶
Ifº
any manº
takeºº
a wife,º
and go inºº
untoº
her, and hateºº
her, |
|
 22:13 ¶
If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her, |
 22:14
And giveºº
occasionsº
of speechº
against her, and bring upºº
an evilº
nameº
uponº
her, and say,ºº
I tookººº
thisº
woman,º
and when I cameºº
toº
her, I foundºº
her notº
a maid:º |

 22:14
And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid: |
 22:15
Then shall the fatherº
of the damsel,º
and her mother,º
takeºº
and bring forthººº
[the tokens of] the damsel'sº
virginityº
untoº
the eldersº
of the cityº
in the gate:º |

 22:15
Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth [the tokens of] the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate: |
 22:16
And the damsel'sº
fatherº
shall sayºº
untoº
the elders,º
I gaveººº
my daughterº
unto thisº
manº
to wife,º
and he hatethºº
her; |

 22:16
And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her; |
 22:17
And, lo,º
heº
hath givenºº
occasionsº
of speechº
[against her], saying,ºº
I foundºº
notº
thy daughterº
a maid;º
and yet theseº
[are the tokens of] my daughter'sº
virginity.º
And they shall spreadºº
the clothº
beforeº
the eldersº
of the city.º |

 22:17
And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech [against her], saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these [are the tokens of] my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city. |
 22:18
And the eldersº
of thatº
cityº
shall takeººº
that manº
and chastiseºº
him; |

 22:18
And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him; |
 22:19
And they shall amerceºº
him in an hundredº
[shekels] of silver,º
and giveºº
[them] unto the fatherº
of the damsel,º
becauseº
he hath brought upºº
an evilº
nameº
uponº
a virginº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל:º
and she shall beº
his wife;º
he mayºº
notº
put her awayºº
allº
his days.º |

 22:19
And they shall amerce him in an hundred [shekels] of silver, and give [them] unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Yisrael: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days. |
 22:20
But ifº
thisº
thingº
beº
true,º
[and the tokens of] virginityº
be notº
foundºº
for the damsel:º |

 22:20
But if this thing be true, [and the tokens of] virginity be not found for the damsel: |
 22:21
Then they shall bring outººº
the damselº
toº
the doorº
of her father'sº
house,º
and the menºº
of her cityº
shall stoneºº
her with stonesº
that she die:ºº
becauseº
she hath wroughtºº
follyº
in
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
to play the whoreºº
in her father'sº
house:º
so shalt thou putºº
evilº
awayººº
from amongºº
you. |

 22:21
Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Yisrael, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you. |
 22:22 ¶
Ifº
a manº
be foundºº
lyingºº
withº
a womanº
marriedºº
to an husband,º
then they shall bothºº
of themº
die,ºº
[both] the manº
that layºº
withº
the woman,º
and the woman:º
so shalt thou put awayºº
evilº
from
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.ºº |

 22:22 ¶
If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, [both] the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Yisrael. |
 22:23 ¶
Ifº
a damselº
[that is] a virginº
beº
betrothedºº
unto an husband,º
and a manº
findºº
her in the city,º
and lieºº
withº
her; |

 22:23 ¶
If a damsel [that is] a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; |
 22:24
Then ye shall bringºº
them bothº
outººº
untoº
the gateº
of thatº
city,º
and ye shall stoneºº
them with stonesº
that they die;ººº
the damsel,º
becauseººº
she criedºº
not,º
[being] in the city;º
and the man,º
becauseººº
he hath humbledººº
his neighbour'sº
wife:º
so thou shalt put awayºº
evilº
from amongºº
you. |

 22:24
Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, [being] in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you. |
 22:25 ¶
But ifº
a manº
findººº
a betrothedºº
damselº
in the field,º
and the manº
forceºº
her, and lieºº
withº
her: then the manº
onlyº
thatº
layºº
withº
her shall die:ºº |
|
 22:25 ¶
But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die: |
 22:26
But unto the damselº
thou shalt doºº
nothing;ºº
[there is] in the damselº
noº
sinº
[worthy] of death:º
forº
asº
when a manº
risethºº
againstº
his neighbour,º
and slayethºººº
him, even soº
[is] thisº
matter:º |
|
 22:26
But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; [there is] in the damsel no sin [worthy] of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so [is] this matter: |
 22:27
Forº
he foundºº
her in the field,º
[and] the betrothedºº
damselº
cried,ºº
and [there was] noneº
to saveºº
her. |

 22:27
For he found her in the field, [and] the betrothed damsel cried, and [there was] none to save her. |
 22:28 ¶
Ifº
a manº
findºº
a damselº
[that is] a virgin,º
whichº
is notº
betrothed,ºº
and lay holdºº
on her, and lieºº
withº
her, and they be found;ºº |
|
 22:28 ¶
If a man find a damsel [that is] a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; |
 22:29
Then the manº
that layºº
withº
her shall giveºº
unto the damsel'sº
fatherº
fiftyº
[shekels] of silver,º
and she shall beº
his wife;º
becauseºº
he hath humbledºº
her, he mayºº
notº
put her awayºº
allº
his days.º |
|
 22:29
Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days. |
 22:30 ¶
A manº
shall notº
takeººº
his father'sº
wife,º
norº
discoverºº
his father'sº
skirt.º |

 22:30 ¶
A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt. |
