וַיִּבְחַר־לוֹ שָׁאוּל שְׁלֹשֶׁת אֲלָפִים מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּהְיוּ עִם־שָׁאוּל אַלְפַּיִם בְּמִכְמָשׂ וּבְהַר בֵּית־אֵל וְאֶלֶף הָיוּ עִם־יוֹנָתָן בְּגִבְעַת בִּנְיָמִין וְיֶתֶר הָעָם שִׁלַּח אִישׁ לְאֹהָלָיו

וַיֹּאמֶר שָׁאוּל הַגִּשׁוּ אֵלַי הָעֹלָה וְהַשְּׁלָמִים וַיַּעַל הָעֹלָה

וַיְהִי כְּכַלֹּתוֹ לְהַעֲלוֹת הָעֹלָה וְהִנֵּה שְׁמוּאֵל בָּא וַיֵּצֵא שָׁאוּל לִקְרָאתוֹ לְבָרֲכוֹ

וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל מֶה עָשִׂיתָ וַיֹּאמֶר שָׁאוּל כִּי־רָאִיתִי כִי־נָפַץ הָעָם מֵעָלַי וְאַתָּה לֹא־בָאתָ לְמוֹעֵד הַיָּמִים וּפְלִשְׁתִּים נֶאֱסָפִים מִכְמָשׂ

 13:11 ¶ And Šæmû´ël שְׁמוּאֵל 8050 said, 559 z8799 What x4100 hast thou done? 6213 z8804 And Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל 7586 said, 559 z8799 Because x3588 I saw 7200 z8804 that x3588 the people 5971 were scattered 5310 z8804 from x4480 x5921 me, and [that] thou x859 camest 935 z8804 not x3808 within the days 3117 appointed, 4150 and [that] the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים 6430 gathered themselves together 622 z8737 at Miȼmäŝ מִכמָשׂ; 4363

וָאֹמַר עַתָּה יֵרְדוּ פְלִשְׁתִּים אֵלַי הַגִּלְגָּל וּפְנֵי יְהוָה לֹא חִלִּיתִי וָאֶתְאַפַּק וָאַעֲלֶה הָעֹלָה ס

 13:12 Therefore said 559 z8799 I, The Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים 6430 will come down 3381 z8799 now x6258 upon x413 me to Gilgäl גִּלגָּל, 1537 and I have not x3808 made supplication 2470 z8765 unto 6440 Yähwè יָהוֶה: 3068 I forced y662 z8691 myself x662 therefore, and offered 5927 z8686 a burnt offering. 5930

וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל אֶל־שָׁאוּל נִסְכָּלְתָּ לֹא שָׁמַרְתָּ אֶת־מִצְוַת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר צִוָּךְ כִּי עַתָּה הֵכִין יְהוָה אֶת־מַמְלַכְתְּךָ אֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵל עַד־עוֹלָם

 13:13 waYomer sh'mûël el-shäûl niš'Käl'Tä lo shämar'Tä et-mitz'wat y'hwäh éloheykhä ásher tziûäkh' Kiy aTäh hëkhiyn y'hwäh et-mam'lakh'T'khä el-yis'räël ad-ôläm

 13:13 And Šæmû´ël שְׁמוּאֵל 8050 said 559 z8799 to x413 Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל, 7586 Thou hast done foolishly: 5528 z8738 thou hast not x3808 kept 8104 z8804 x853 the commandment 4687 of Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 thy ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים, 430 which x834 he commanded 6680 z8765 thee: for x3588 now x6258 would Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 have established 3559 z8689 x853 thy kingdom 4467 upon x413 Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל 3478 for y5704 ever. 5769 x5704

וְעַתָּה מַמְלַכְתְּךָ לֹא־תָקוּם בִּקֵּשׁ יְהוָה לוֹ אִישׁ כִּלְבָבוֹ וַיְצַוֵּהוּ יְהוָה לְנָגִיד עַל־עַמּוֹ כִּי לֹא שָׁמַרְתָּ אֵת אֲשֶׁר־צִוְּךָ יְהוָה פ

 13:14 w'aTäh mam'lakh'T'khä lo-täqûm BiQësh y'hwäh lô iysh Kil'vävô way'tzaûëhû y'hwäh l'nägiyd al-aMô Kiy lo shämar'Tä ët ásher-tziû'khä y'hwäh f

 13:14 But now x6258 thy kingdom 4467 shall not x3808 continue: 6965 z8799 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 hath sought 1245 z8765 him a man 376 after his own heart, 3824 and Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 hath commanded 6680 z8762 him [to be] captain 5057 over x5921 his people, 5971 because x3588 thou hast not x3808 kept 8104 z8804 [that] x853 which x834 Yähwè יָהוֶה 3068 commanded 6680 z8765 thee.

וַיָּקָם שְׁמוּאֵל וַיַּעַל מִן־הַגִּלְגָּל גִּבְעַת בִּנְיָמִן וַיִּפְקֹד שָׁאוּל אֶת־הָעָם הַנִּמְצְאִים עִמּוֹ כְּשֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת אִישׁ

 13:15 waYäqäm sh'mûël waYaal min-haGil'Gäl Giv'at Bin'yämin waYif'qod shäûl et-hääm haNim'tz'iym iMô K'shësh mëôt iysh

 13:15 And Šæmû´ël שְׁמוּאֵל 8050 arose, 6965 z8799 and gat him up 5927 z8799 from x4480 Gilgäl גִּלגָּל 1537 unto Giv`à גִּבעָה 1390 of Binyämîn בִּניָמִין. 1144 And Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל 7586 numbered 6485 z8799 x853 the people 5971 [that were] present 4672 z8737 with x5973 him, about six 8337 hundred 3967 men. 376

 13:16 And Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל, 7586 and Yæhônäŧän יְהוֹנָתָן y3129 x3083 his son, 1121 and the people 5971 [that were] present 4672 z8737 with x5973 them, abode 3427 z8802 in Giv`à גִּבעָה 1387 of Binyämîn בִּניָמִין: 1144 but the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים 6430 encamped 2583 z8804 in Miȼmäŝ מִכמָשׂ. 4363

וַיֵּצֵא הַמַּשְׁחִית מִמַּחֲנֵה פְלִשְׁתִּים שְׁלֹשָׁה רָאשִׁים הָרֹאשׁ אֶחָד יִפְנֶה אֶל־דֶּרֶךְ עָפְרָה אֶל־אֶרֶץ שׁוּעָל

 13:17 ¶ And the spoilers 7843 z8688 came out 3318 z8799 of the camp 4264 x4480 of the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים 6430 in three 7969 companies: 7218 one 259 company 7218 turned 6437 z8799 unto x413 the way 1870 [that leadeth to] `Ofrà עָפרָה, 6084 unto x413 the land 776 of Šû`äl שׁוּעָל: 7777

וְהָרֹאשׁ אֶחָד יִפְנֶה דֶּרֶךְ בֵּית חֹרוֹן וְהָרֹאשׁ אֶחָד יִפְנֶה דֶּרֶךְ הַגְּבוּל הַנִּשְׁקָף עַל־גֵּי הַצְּבֹעִים הַמִּדְבָּרָה ס

 13:18 And another 259 company 7218 turned 6437 z8799 the way 1870 [to] Bêŧ Çôrôn בֵּית־חוֹרוֹן: 1032 and another 259 company 7218 turned 6437 z8799 [to] the way 1870 of the border 1366 that looketh 8259 z8737 to x5921 the valley 1516 of Xævö`îm צְבֹעִים 6650 toward the wilderness. 4057

וְחָרָשׁ לֹא יִמָּצֵא בְּכֹל אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי־*אָמַר [אָמְרוּ] פְלִשְׁתִּים פֶּן יַעֲשׂוּ הָעִבְרִים חֶרֶב אוֹ חֲנִית

 13:19 ¶ Now there was no x3808 smith 2796 found 4672 z8735 throughout all x3605 the land 776 of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל: 3478 for x3588 the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים 6430 said, 559 z8804 Lest x6435 the `Ivrîm עִברִים 5680 make 6213 z8799 [them] swords 2719 or x176 spears: 2595

וַיֵּרְדוּ כָל־יִשְׂרָאֵל הַפְּלִשְׁתִּים לִלְטוֹשׁ אִישׁ אֶת־מַחֲרַשְׁתּוֹ וְאֶת־אֵתוֹ וְאֶת־קַרְדֻּמּוֹ וְאֵת מַחֲרֵשָׁתוֹ

 13:20 But all x3605 the Yiŝræ´ëlîm יִשׂרְאֵלִים 3478 went down 3381 z8799 to the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים, 6430 to sharpen 3913 z8800 every man 376 x853 his share, 4282 and his coulter, 855 and his axe, 7134 and his mattock. 4281

וְהָיְתָה הַפְּצִירָה פִים לַמַּחֲרֵשֹׁת וְלָאֵתִים וְלִשְׁלֹשׁ קִלְּשׁוֹן וּלְהַקַּרְדֻּמִּים וּלְהַצִּיב הַדָּרְבָן

 13:21 Yet they had x1961 a file 6477 6310 for the mattocks, 4281 and for the coulters, 855 and for the forks, 7969 7053 and for the axes, 7134 and to sharpen 5324 z8687 the goads. 1861

וְהָיָה בְּיוֹם מִלְחֶמֶת וְלֹא נִמְצָא חֶרֶב וַחֲנִית בְּיַד כָּל־הָעָם אֲשֶׁר אֶת־שָׁאוּל וְאֶת־יוֹנָתָן וַתִּמָּצֵא לְשָׁאוּל וּלְיוֹנָתָן בְּנוֹ

 13:22 w'häyäh B'yôm mil'chemet w'lo nim'tzä cherev wachániyt B'yad Käl-hääm ásher et-shäûl w'et-yônätän waTiMätzë l'shäûl ûl'yônätän B'nô

 13:22 So it came to pass x1961 in the day 3117 of battle, 4421 that there was neither x3808 sword 2719 nor spear 2595 found 4672 z8738 in the hand 3027 of any x3605 of the people 5971 that x834 [were] with x854 Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל 7586 and Yæhônäŧän יְהוֹנָתָן: y3129 x3083 but with Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל 7586 and with Yæhônäŧän יְהוֹנָתָן y3129 x3083 his son 1121 was there found. 4672 z8735
