 38:1 ¶ [[A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.]] O Jehovah, rebuke me not in thy wrath; Neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

 38:1 ¶ [[A Psalmº of David,º to bring to remembrance.]]ºº O LORD,º rebukeºº me notº in thy wrath:º neither chastenºº me in thy hot displeasure.º

 38:2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, And thy hand presseth me sore.

 38:2 Forº thine arrowsº stick fastºº in me, and thy handº presseth me sore.ººº

 38:3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation; Neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.

 38:3 [There is] noº soundnessº in my fleshº becauseºº of thine anger;º neitherº [is there any] restº in my bonesº becauseºº of my sin.º

 38:4 For mine iniquities are gone over my head: As a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

 38:4 Forº mine iniquitiesº are gone overºº mine head:º as an heavyº burdenº they are too heavyºº forº me.

 38:5 My wounds are loathsome and corrupt, Because of my foolishness.

 38:5 My woundsº stinkºº [and] are corruptºº becauseºº of my foolishness.º

 38:6 I am pained and bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

 38:6 I am troubled;ºº I am bowed downºº greatly;ºº I goºº mourningºº allº the dayº long.

 38:7 For my loins are filled with burning; And there is no soundness in my flesh.

 38:7 Forº my loinsº are filledºº with a loathsomeºº [disease]: and [there is] noº soundnessº in my flesh.º

 38:8 I am faint and sore bruised: I have groaned by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

 38:8 I am feebleºº and soreºº broken:ºº I have roaredºº by reason of the disquietnessºº of my heart.º

 38:9 Lord, all my desire is before thee; And my groaning is not hid from thee.

 38:9 Lord,º allº my desireº [is] beforeº thee; and my groaningº is notº hidºº fromº thee.

 38:10 My heart throbbeth, my strength faileth me: As for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.

 38:10 My heartº panteth,ºº my strengthº failethºº me: as for the lightº of mine eyes,º itº alsoº is goneº fromº me.

 38:11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague; And my kinsmen stand afar off.

 38:11 My loversºº and my friendsº standºº aloofº fromº my sore;ººº and my kinsmenº standºº afar off.ºº

 38:12 They also that seek after my life lay snares [for me]; And they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, And meditate deceits all the day long.

 38:12 They also that seekºº afterº my lifeº lay snaresºº [for me]: and they that seekºº my hurtº speakºº mischievous things,º and imagineºº deceitsº allº the dayº long.

 38:13 But I, as a deaf man, hear not; And I am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.

 38:13 But I,º as a deafº [man], heardºº not;º and [I was] as a dumb manº [that] openethºº notº his mouth.º

 38:14 Yea, I am as a man that heareth not, And in whose mouth are no reproofs.

 38:14 Thus I wasº as a manº thatº hearethºº not,º and in whose mouthº [are] noº reproofs.º

 38:15 For in thee, O Jehovah, do I hope: Thou wilt answer, O Lord my God.

 38:15 Forº in thee, O LORD,º do I hope:ºº thouº wilt hear,ºº O Lordº my God.º

 38:16 For I said, Lest they rejoice over me: When my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

 38:16 Forº I said,ºº [Hear me], lestº [otherwise] they should rejoiceºº over me: when my footº slippeth,ºº they magnifyºº [themselves] againstº me.

 38:17 For I am ready to fall, And my sorrow is continually before me.

 38:17 Forº Iº [am] readyºº to halt,º and my sorrowº [is] continuallyº beforeº me.

 38:18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

 38:18 Forº I will declareºº mine iniquity;º I will be sorryºº for my sin.ºº

 38:19 But mine enemies are lively, [and] are strong; And they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

 38:19 But mine enemiesºº [are] lively,º [and] they are strong:ºº and they that hateºº me wrongfullyº are multiplied.ºº

 38:20 They also that render evil for good Are adversaries unto me, because I follow the thing that is good.

 38:20 They also that renderºº evilº forº goodº are mine adversaries;ºº becauseº I followºº [the thing that] goodº [is].

 38:21 Forsake me not, O Jehovah: O my God, be not far from me.

 38:21 Forsakeºº me not,º O LORD:º O my God,º be notº farºº fromº me.

 38:22 Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation.

 38:22 Make hasteºº to helpº me, O Lordº my salvation.º
