Leviticus 21

1 Of the priests' mourning. 6 Of their holiness. 8 Of their estimation. 7, 13 Of their marriages. 17 The priests that have blemishes must not minister in the sanctuary.

 21:1 Then the LORD 3068 said 559 to Moses 4872, “Speak 559 to the priests 3548, the sons 1121 of Aaron 175, and say 559 to them: ¶ ‘No 3808 one shall defile 2930 himself for a [dead] person 5315 among his people 5971b,

 21:2 except 3588 518 for his relatives 7607 who are nearest 7138 to him, his mother 517 and his father 1 and his son 1121 and his daughter 1323 and his brother 251,

 21:3 also for his virgin 1330 sister 269, who is near 7138 to him because 834 she has 1961 had 1961 no 3808 husband 376; for her he may defile 2930 himself.

 21:4 ‘He shall not defile 2930 himself as a relative 1167 by marriage 1167 among his people 5971b, and so profane 2490c himself.

 21:5 ‘They shall not make 7139 any baldness 7139 7144 on their heads 7218, nor 3808 shave 1548 off 1548 the edges 6285 of their beards 2206, nor 3808 make 8295 any cuts 8295 in their flesh 1320.

 21:6 ‘They shall be holy 6918 to their God 430 and not profane 2490c the name 8034 of their God 430, for they present 7126 the offerings 801 by fire 801 to the LORD 3068, the food 3899 of their God 430; so they shall be holy 6944.

 21:7 ‘They shall not take 3947 a woman 802 who is profaned 2491b by harlotry 2181, nor 3808 shall they take 3947 a woman 802 divorced 1644 from her husband 376; for he is holy 6918 to his God 430.

 21:8 ‘You shall consecrate 6942 him, therefore, for he offers 7126 the food 3899 of your God 430; he shall be holy 6918 to you; for I the LORD 3068, who sanctifies 6942 you, am holy 6918.

 21:9 ‘Also the daughter 1323 of any 376 priest 3548, if 3588 she profanes 2490c herself by harlotry 2181, she profanes 2490c her father 1; she shall be burned 8313 with fire 784.

 21:10 ¶ ‘The priest 3548 who is the highest 1419 among 4480 his brothers 251, on whose 834 head 7218 the anointing 4888b oil 8081 has been poured 3332 and who has been consecrated 4390 3027 to wear 3847 the garments 899b, shall not uncover 6544a his head 7218 nor 3808 tear 6533 his clothes 899b;

 21:11 nor 3808 shall he approach 935 any 3605 dead 4191 person 5315, nor 3808 defile 2930 himself [even] for his father 1 or his mother 517;

 21:12 nor 3808 shall he go 3318 out of the sanctuary 4720 nor 3808 profane 2490c the sanctuary 4720 of his God 430, for the consecration 5145 of the anointing 4888b oil 8081 of his God 430 is on him; I am the LORD 3068.

 21:13 ‘He shall take 3947 a wife 802 in her virginity 1331.

 21:14 ‘A widow 490, or a divorced 1644 woman, or one who is profaned 2491b by harlotry 2181, these 428 he may not take 3947; but rather 3588 518 he is to marry 3947 a virgin 1330 of his own people 5971b,

 21:15 so that he will not profane 2490c his offspring 2233 among his people 5971b; for I am the LORD 3068 who sanctifies 6942 him.’”

 21:16 ¶ Then the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to Moses 4872, saying 559,

 21:17 “Speak 1696 to Aaron 175, saying 559, ‘No 3808 man 376 of your offspring 2233 throughout their generations 1755 who 834 has 1961 a defect 4140b shall approach 7126 to offer 7126 the food 3899 of his God 430.

 21:18 ‘For no 3808 3605 one 376 who 834 has a defect 4140b shall approach 7126: a blind 5787 man 376, or 176 a lame 6455 man 6455, or 176 he who has a disfigured 2763b [face], or 176 any deformed 8311 [limb],

 21:19 or 176 a man 376 who 834 has 1961 a broken 7667 foot 7272 or 176 broken 7667 hand 3027,

 21:20 or 176 a hunchback 1384 or 176 a dwarf 1851, or 176 [one who has] a defect 8400 in his eye 5869 or 176 eczema 1618 or 176 scabs 3217 or 176 crushed 4790 testicles 810.

 21:21 ‘No 3808 3605 man 376 among 4480 the descendants 2233 of Aaron 175 the priest 3548 who 834 has a defect 4140b is to come 5066 near 5066 to offer 7126 the LORD’S 3068 offerings 801 by fire 801; [since] he has a defect 4140b, he shall not come 5066 near 5066 to offer 7126 the food 3899 of his God 430.

 21:22 ‘He may eat 398 the food 3899 of his God 430, [both] of the most 6944 holy 6944 and of the holy 6944,

 21:23 only 389 he shall not go 935 in to the veil 6532 or come 5066 near 5066 the altar 4196 because 3588 he has a defect 4140b, so that he will not profane 2490c My sanctuaries 4720. For I am the LORD 3068 who sanctifies 6942 them.’”

 21:24 So Moses 4872 spoke 1696 to Aaron 175 and to his sons 1121 and to all 3605 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478.
