 1:1 ¶ Paul, called [to be] an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

 1:2 unto the church of God which is at Corinth, [even] them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called [to be] saints, with all that call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, their [Lord] and ours:

 1:2 Unto theº churchº of Godº whichº isºº atº Corinth,º to them that are sanctifiedºº inº Christº Jesus,º calledº [to be] saints,º withº allº that inº everyº placeº call uponºº theº nameº of Jesusº Christº ourº Lord,º bothº theirsºº andº ours:º

 1:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 1:3 Graceº [be] unto you,º andº peace,º fromº Godº ourº Father,º andº [from] the Lordº Jesusº Christ.º

 1:4 I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;

 1:4 I thankºº myº Godº alwaysº onºº yourº behalf,ºº forº theº graceº of Godº whichº is givenºº youº byº Jesusº Christ;º

 1:5 that in everything ye were enriched in him, in all utterance and all knowledge;

 1:5 Thatº inº every thingº ye are enrichedºº byº him,º inº allº utterance,º andº [in] allº knowledge;º

 1:6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

 1:6 Even asº theº testimonyº of Christº was confirmedºº inº you:º

 1:7 so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

 1:7 So thatº yeºº come behindºº inº noºº gift;º waiting forºº theº comingº of ourº Lordº Jesusº Christ:º

 1:8 who shall also confirm you unto the end, [that ye be] unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 1:8 Whoº shallºº alsoº confirmºº youº untoº the end,º [that ye may be] blamelessº inº theº dayº of ourº Lordº Jesusº Christ.º

 1:9 God is faithful, through whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

 1:9 Godº [is] faithful,º byº whomº ye were calledºº untoº the fellowshipº of hisºº Sonº Jesusº Christº ourº Lord.º

 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and [that] there be no divisions among you; but [that] ye be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

 1:10 Nowº I beseechºº you,º brethren,º byº theº nameº of ourº Lordº Jesusº Christ,º thatº yeºº allº speakºº theº same thing,º andº [that] there beºº noº divisionsº amongº you;º butº [that] ye beºº perfectly joined togetherºº inº theº sameº mindº andº inº theº sameº judgment.º

 1:11 For it hath been signified unto me concerning you, my brethren, by them [that are of the household] of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

 1:11 Forº it hath been declaredºº unto meº ofº you,º myº brethren,º byº themº [which are of the house]º of Chloe,º thatº there areºº contentionsº amongº you.º

 1:12 Now this I mean, that each one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos: and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

 1:12 Nowº thisº I say,ºº thatº every oneº of youº saith,ºº Iºº amºº of Paul;º andº Iº of Apollos;º andº Iº of Cephas;º andº Iº of Christ.º

 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?

 1:13 Isºº Christº divided?ººº wasººº Paulº crucifiedºº forº you?º orº were ye baptizedºº inº theº nameº of Paul?º

 1:14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, save Crispus and Gaius;

 1:14 I thankºº Godº thatº I baptizedºº noneº of you,º butº Crispusº andº Gaius;º

 1:15 lest any man should say that ye were baptized into my name.

 1:15 Lestº anyº should sayºº thatº I had baptizedºº inº mine ownº name.º

 1:16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

 1:16 Andº I baptizedºº alsoº theº householdº of Stephanas:º besides,º I knowºº notº whether I baptizedºº anyºº other.º

 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.

 1:17 Forº Christº sentºº meº notº to baptize,ºº butº to preach the gospel:ºº notº withº wisdomº of words,º lestº theº crossº of Christº should be made of none effect.ººº

 1:18 For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.

 1:18 Forº theº preachingº ofº theº crossº isºº to themº that perishººº foolishness;º butº unto usº whichº are savedºº it isºº the powerº of God.º

 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought.

 1:19 Forº it is written,ºº I will destroyºº theº wisdomº of theº wise,º andº will bring to nothingºº theº understandingº of theº prudent.º

 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

 1:20 Whereº [is] the wise?º whereº [is] the scribe?º whereº [is] the disputerº of thisº world?º hathºº notº Godº made foolishºº theº wisdomº of thisº world?º

 1:21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God's good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe.

 1:21 Forº afterº thatº inº theº wisdomº of Godº theº worldº byº wisdomº knewºº notº God,º it pleasedºº Godº byº theº foolishnessº of preachingº to saveºº them that believe.ºº

 1:22 Seeing that Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom:

 1:22 Forºº theº Jewsº requireºº a sign,º andº the Greeksº seekºº afterº wisdom:º

 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumblingblock, and unto Gentiles foolishness;

 1:23 Butº weº preachºº Christº crucified,ºº unto the Jewsº aº stumblingblock,ºº andº unto the Greeksº foolishness;º

 1:24 but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

 1:24 Butº unto themº whichº are called,º bothº Jewsº andº Greeks,º Christº the powerº of God,º andº the wisdomº of God.º

 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

 1:25 Becauseº theº foolishnessº of Godº isºº wiserº thanº men;º andº theº weaknessº of Godº isºº strongerº thanº men.º

 1:26 For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, [are called]:

 1:26 Forº ye seeºº yourº calling,º brethren,º how thatº notº manyº wise menº afterº the flesh,º notº manyº mighty,º notº manyº noble,º [are called]:

 1:27 but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;

 1:27 Butº Godº hath chosenºº theº foolish thingsº of theº worldº toº confoundºº theº wise;º andº Godº hath chosenºº theº weak thingsº of theº worldº toº confoundºº the things which are mighty;º

 1:28 and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, [yea] and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:

 1:28 Andº base thingsº of theº world,º andº things which are despised,ºº hathºº Godº chosen,ºº [yea], andº thingsº whichº areºº not,º toºº bring to noughtºº things that are:ºº

 1:29 that no flesh should glory before God.

 1:29 Thatº noºº fleshº should gloryºº in his presence.ºº

 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:

 1:30 Butº ofº himº areºº yeº inº Christº Jesus,º whoº ofº Godº is madeºº unto usºº wisdom,º andº righteousness,º andº sanctification,º andº redemption:º

 1:31 that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

 1:31 That,º according asº it is written,ºº Heº that glorieth,ºº let him gloryºº inº the Lord.º
