 11:1 ¶ Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.

 11:1 ¶ Beºº ye followersº of me,º even asº I alsoº [am] of Christ.º

 11:2 Now I praise you that ye remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you.

 11:2 Nowº I praiseºº you,º brethren,º thatº ye rememberºº meº in all things,º andº keepºº theº ordinances,º asº I deliveredºº [them] to you.º

 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

 11:3 Butº I wouldº haveºº youº know,ºº thatº theº headº of everyº manº isºº Christ;º andº the headº of the womanº [is] theº man;º andº the headº of Christº [is] God.º

 11:4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoreth his head.

 11:4 Everyº manº prayingºº orº prophesying,ºº havingºº [his] headº covered,ºº dishonourethºº hisºº head.º

 11:5 But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoreth her head; for it is one and the same thing as if she were shaven.

 11:5 Butº everyº womanº that prayethºº orº prophesiethºº with [her] headº uncoveredº dishonourethºº herº head:º forº that isºº evenº all oneººº as ifº she were shaven.ºº

 11:6 For if a woman is not veiled, let her also be shorn: but if it is a shame to a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be veiled.

 11:6 Forº ifº theº womanº beºº notº covered,ºº let herºº alsoº be shorn:ºº butº ifº it be a shameº for a womanº to be shornºº orºº shaven,ºº let her be covered.ºº

 11:7 For a man indeed ought not to have his head veiled, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

 11:7 Forº a manº indeedº oughtºº notº to coverºº [his] head,º forasmuch as he isºº the imageº andº gloryº of God:º butº the womanº isºº the gloryº of the man.º

 11:8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man:

 11:8 Forº the manº isºº notº ofº the woman;º butº the womanº ofº the man.º

 11:9 for neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man:

 11:9 ºº Neitherºº wasºº the manº createdºº forº theº woman;º butº the womanº forº theº man.º

 11:10 for this cause ought the woman to have [a sign of] authority on her head, because of the angels.

 11:10 For thisº causeºº oughtºº theº womanº to haveºº powerº onº [her] headº becauseº of theº angels.º

 11:11 Nevertheless, neither is the woman without the man, nor the man without the woman, in the Lord.

 11:11 Neverthelessº neitherº is the manº withoutº the woman,º neitherº the womanº withoutº the man,º inº the Lord.º

 11:12 For as the woman is of the man, so is the man also by the woman; but all things are of God.

 11:12 Forº asº theº womanº [is] ofº theº man,º even soº [is] theº manº alsoº byº theº woman;º butº all thingsº ofº God.º

 11:13 Judge ye in yourselves: is it seemly that a woman pray unto God unveiled?

 11:13 Judgeºº inº yourselves:ºº isº itºº comelyºº that a womanº prayºº unto Godº uncovered?º

 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a dishonor to him?

 11:14 Dothº not evenº natureº itselfº teachºº you,º that,º ifºº a manº have long hair,ºº it isºº a shameº unto him?º

 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

 11:15 Butº ifº a womanº have long hair,ºº it isºº a gloryº to her:º forº [her] hairº is givenºº herº forº a covering.º

 11:16 But if any man seemeth to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

 11:16 Butº ifº any manºº seemºº to beºº contentious,º weº haveºº noº suchº custom,º neitherº theº churchesº of God.º

 11:17 But in giving you this charge, I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better but for the worse.

 11:17 Nowº in thisº that I declareºº [unto you] I praiseºº [you] not,º thatº ye come togetherºº notº forº theº better,º butº forº theº worse.º

 11:18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that divisions exist among you; and I partly believe it.

 11:18 Forºº first of all,º whenº yeº come togetherºº inº theº church,º I hearºº that there beºº divisionsº amongº you;º andº I partlyºº believeºº it.º

 11:19 For there must be also factions among you, that they that are approved may be made manifest among you.

 11:19 Forº there mustºº beºº alsoº heresiesº amongº you,º thatº they which are approvedº may be madeºº manifestº amongº you.º

 11:20 When therefore ye assemble yourselves together, it is not possible to eat the Lord's supper:

 11:20 When yeº come togetherºº thereforeº intoº one place,º [this] isºº notº to eatºº the Lord'sº supper.º

 11:21 for in your eating each one taketh before [other] his own supper; and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

 11:21 Forº inº eatingºº every oneº taketh beforeºº [other] his ownº supper:º andº oneºº is hungry,ºº andº anotherº is drunken.ºº

 11:22 What, have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and put them to shame that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you? In this I praise you not.

 11:22 What?ºº haveº yeºº notºº housesº to eatºº andº to drinkºº in?º orº despiseº yeºº theº churchº of God,º andº shameºº them that haveºº not?º Whatº shall I sayºº to you?º shall I praiseºº youº inº this?º I praiseºº [you] not.º

 11:23 For I received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was betrayed took bread;

 11:23 Forº Iº have receivedºº ofº theº Lordº that whichº alsoº I deliveredºº unto you,º Thatº theº Lordº Jesusº theº [same] nightº inº whichº he was betrayedºº tookºº bread:º

 11:24 and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, This is my body, which is for you: this do in remembrance of me.

 11:24 Andº when he had given thanks,ºº he brakeºº [it], andº said,ºº Take,ººº eat:ºº thisº isºº myº body,º whichº is brokenºº forº you:º thisº doºº inº remembranceº of me.º

 11:25 In like manner also the cup, after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood: this do, as often as ye drink [it], in remembrance of me.

 11:25 Afterº the same mannerº alsoº [he took] theº cup,º whenº he had supped,ºº saying,ºº Thisº cupº isºº theº newº testamentº inº myº blood:º thisº doº ye,ºº as oft asºº ye drinkººº [it], inº remembranceº of me.º

 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink the cup, ye proclaim the Lord's death till he come.

 11:26 Forº as often asºº ye eatººº thisº bread,º andº drinkººº thisº cup,º ye do shewºº theº Lord'sº deathº tillºº heº come.ºº

 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat the bread or drink the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.

 11:27 Whereforeº whosoeverºº shall eatºº thisº bread,º andº drinkºº [this] cupº of theº Lord,º unworthily,º shall beºº guiltyº of theº bodyº andº bloodº of theº Lord.º

 11:28 But let a man prove himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.

 11:28 Butº letºº a manº examineºº himself,º andº soº let him eatºº ofº [that] bread,º andº drinkºº ofº [that] cup.º

 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh, eateth and drinketh judgment unto himself, if he discern not the body.

 11:29 Forº he that eatethºº andº drinkethºº unworthily,º eatethºº andº drinkethºº damnationº to himself,º notº discerningºº theº Lord'sº body.º

 11:30 For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.

 11:30 Forºº thisº causeºº manyº [are] weakº andº sicklyº amongº you,º andº manyº sleep.ºº

 11:31 But if we discerned ourselves, we should not be judged.

 11:31 Forº ifº we would judgeºº ourselves,º we shouldº notº be judged.ºº

 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

 11:32 Butº when we are judged,ºº we are chastenedºº ofº the Lord,º thatººº we shouldºº notºº be condemnedºº withº theº world.º

 11:33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, wait one for another.

 11:33 Wherefore,º myº brethren,º when ye come togetherºº toº eat,ºº tarryºº one for another.º

 11:34 If any man is hungry, let him eat at home; that your coming together be not unto judgment. And the rest will I set in order whensoever I come.

 11:34 Andº ifº any manºº hunger,ºº let him eatºº atº home;º thatººº ye comeºº notº togetherººº untoº condemnation.º Andº theº restº will I set in orderºº whenºº I come.ºº
