 4:1 ¶ Let a man so account of us, as of ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

 4:1 ¶ Letºº a manº soº accountºº of us,º asº of the ministersº of Christ,º andº stewardsº of the mysteriesº of God.º

 4:2 Here, moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

 4:2 ºº Moreoverºº it is requiredºº inº stewards,º thatº a manº be foundºº faithful.º

 4:3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.

 4:3 Butº with meº it isºº aº very small thingºº thatº I should be judgedºº ofº you,º orº ofº man'sº judgment:º yea,º I judgeºº notº mine own self.º

 4:4 For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

 4:4 Forº I knowºº nothingº by myself;º yetº am Iºº notº herebyºº justified:ºº butº he that judgethºº meº isºº the Lord.º

 4:5 Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.

 4:5 Thereforeº judgeºº nothingºº beforeº the time,º untilºº theº Lordº come,ºº whoº bothº will bring to lightºº theº hidden thingsº of darkness,º andº will make manifestºº theº counselsº of theº hearts:º andº thenº shall every manº haveºº praiseº ofº God.º

 4:6 Now these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes; that in us ye might learn not [to go] beyond the things which are written; that no one of you be puffed up for the one against the other.

 4:6 Andº these things,º brethren,º I have in a figure transferredºº toº myselfº andº [to] Apollosº forº your sakes;ºº thatº ye might learnºº inº usº notº to thinkºº [of men] aboveº thatº whichº is written,ºº thatº noºº oneº of you be puffed upºº forº oneº againstº another.º

 4:7 For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? but if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received it?

 4:7 Forº whoº makethºº theeº to differººº [from another]? andº whatº hastº thouºº thatº thou didstºº notº receive?ººº nowº ifºº thou didstº receiveºº [it], whyº dost thou glory,ºº asº ifº thou hadstºº notº receivedºº [it]?

 4:8 Already are ye filled, already ye are become rich, ye have come to reign without us: yea and I would that ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

 4:8 Nowº ye areºº full,ºº nowº ye are rich,ºº ye have reigned as kingsºº withoutº us:º andº I would to Godºº ye did reign,ºº thatº weº alsoº might reign withºº you.º

 4:9 For, I think, God hath set forth us the apostles last of all, as men doomed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, both to angels and men.

 4:9 Forº I thinkºº thatº Godº hath set forthºº usº theº apostlesº last,º asº it wereº appointed to death:º forº we are madeºº a spectacleº unto theº world,º andº to angels,º andº to men.º

 4:10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye have glory, but we have dishonor.

 4:10 Weº [are] foolsº forºº Christ'sº sake,ºº butº yeº [are] wiseº inº Christ;º weº [are] weak,º butº yeº [are] strong;º yeº [are] honourable,º butº weº [are] despised.º

 4:11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place;

 4:11 Evenº untoº this presentº hourº weºº bothº hunger,ºº andº thirst,ºº andº are naked,ºº andº are buffeted,ºº andº have no certain dwellingplace;ºº

 4:12 and we toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;

 4:12 Andº labour,ºº workingºº with our ownº hands:º being reviled,ºº we bless;ºº being persecuted,ºº we sufferº it:ºº

 4:13 being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now.

 4:13 Being defamed,ºº we intreat:ºº we are madeºº asº the filthº of theº world,º [and are] the offscouringº of all thingsº untoº this day.º

 4:14 I write not these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

 4:14 I writeºº notº these thingsº to shameºº you,º butº asº myº belovedº sonsº I warnºº [you].

 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand tutors in Christ, yet [have ye] not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I begat you through the gospel.

 4:15 Forº thoughº ye haveºº ten thousandº instructorsº inº Christ,º yetº [have ye] notº manyº fathers:º forº inº Christº Jesusº Iº have begottenºº youº throughº theº gospel.º

 4:16 I beseech you therefore, be ye imitators of me.

 4:16 Whereforeº I beseechºº you,º beº yeºº followersº of me.º

 4:17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who shall put you in remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, even as I teach everywhere in every church.

 4:17 Forºº thisº causeºº have I sentºº unto youº Timotheus,º whoº isºº myº belovedº son,º andº faithfulº inº the Lord,º whoº shall bringºº youº into remembranceººº of myº waysº whichº be inº Christ,º asº I teachºº every whereº inº everyº church.º

 4:18 Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.

 4:18 Nowº someº are puffed up,ºº as thoughº Iº wouldºº notº comeºº toº you.º

 4:19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will; and I will know, not the word of them that are puffed up, but the power.

 4:19 Butº I will comeºº toº youº shortly,º ifº theº Lordº will,ºº andº will know,ºº notº theº speechº of them which are puffed up,ºº butº theº power.º

 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

 4:20 Forº theº kingdomº of Godº [is] notº inº word,º butº inº power.º

 4:21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?

 4:21 Whatº willº ye?ºº shall I comeºº untoº youº withº a rod,º orº inº love,º andº [in] the spiritº of meekness?ºº
