And Hezekiah{gr.Ezekias} began to reign at the age of twenty-five years, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Abia, daughter of Zechariah{gr.Zacharias}. |

And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father David had done. |

his fatherº

29:3 ¶
And it came to pass, when he was established over his kingdom, in the first month, he opened the doors of the house of the Lord, and repaired them. |

the doorsº
of the houseº
of Yahweh,º
and repairedºº
them. |

29:4
And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and put them on the east side, |

the priestsº
and the Levites,º
and gathered them togetherºº
into the eastº
street,º |
|
29:5
and said to them, Hear, ye Levites: now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and cast out the impurity from the holy places. |

And saidºº
unto them, Hearºº
me, ye Levites,º
sanctifyºº
now yourselves,ºº
and sanctifyººº
the houseº
of Yahwehº
Elohimº
of your fathers,º
and carry forthººº
the filthinessº
out ofº
the holyº
[place]. |

29:6
For our fathers have revolted, and done that which was evil before the Lord our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their face from the tabernacle of the Lord, and have turned [their] back. |

our fathersº
have trespassed,ºº
and doneºº
[that which was] evilº
in the eyesº
of Yahwehº
our Elohim,º
and have forsakenºº
him, and have turned awayºº
their facesº
from the habitationºº
of Yahweh,º
and turnedºº
[their] backs.º |

And they have shut up the doors of the temple, and put out the lamps, and have not burnt incense, and have not offered whole-burnt-offerings in the holy [place] to the God of Israel. |

Alsoº
they have shut upºº
the doorsº
of the porch,º
and put outººº
the lamps,º
and have notº
burnedºº
incenseº
norº
offeredºº
burnt offeringsº
in the holyº
[place] unto the Elohimº
of Israel.º |

29:8
And the Lord was very angry with Judah{gr.Juda} and Jerusalem, and made them an astonishment, and a desolation, and a hissing, as ye see with your eyes. |

29:8
Wherefore the wrathº
of Yahwehº
wasº
uponº
Judahº
and Jerusalem,º
and he hath deliveredºº
them to trouble,ººº
to astonishment,º
and to hissing,º
asº
yeº
seeºº
with your eyes.º |
|
29:9
And, behold, your fathers have been smitten with the sword, and your sons and your daughters and your wives are in captivity in a land not their own, as it is even now. |
|
29:9
For, lo,º
our fathersº
have fallenºº
by the sword,º
and our sonsº
and our daughtersº
and our wivesº
[are] in captivityº
forº
this.º |
|
29:10
Therefore it is now in my heart to make a covenant, a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that he may turn away his fierce wrath from us. |
|
29:10
Nowº
[it is] inº
mine heartº
to makeºº
a covenantº
with Yahwehº
Elohimº
of Israel,º
that his fierceº
wrathº
may turn awayºº
fromº
us. |

29:11
And now be not wanting [to your duty], for the Lord has chosen you to stand before him to minister, and to be ministers and burners of incense to him. |
|

My sons,º
be notº
nowº
negligent:ºº
forº
Yahwehº
hath chosenºº
you to standºº
beforeº
him, to serveºº
him, and that ye should ministerººº
unto him, and burn incense.ºº |

29:12 ¶
Then the Levites rose up, Maath the son of Amasi, and Joel the son of Azariah{gr.Azarias}, of the sons of Kohath{gr.Caath}: and of the sons of Merari, Kish{gr.Kis} the son of Abdi, and Azariah{gr.Azarias} the son of Haelel: and of the sons of Gedsoni, Jodaad the son of Zemmath, and Joadam: these [were] the sons of Joacha. |

And they gathered their brethren, and they purified themselves according to the king's command by the order of the Lord, to purify the house of the Lord. |

according to the commandmentº
of the king,º
by the wordsº
of Yahweh,º
to cleanseºº
the houseº
of Yahweh.º |

And the priests entered into the house of the Lord, to purify [it], and they cast out all the uncleanness that was found in the house of the Lord, even into the court of the house of the Lord: and the Levites received [it] to cast into the brook of Kidron{gr.Kedron} without. |

And the priestsº

of the houseº
of Yahweh,º
to cleanseºº
[it], and brought outººº
allº
the uncleannessº
thatº
they foundºº
in the templeº
of Yahwehº
into the courtº
of the houseº
of Yahweh.º
And the Levitesº

[it], to carry [it] outºº
abroadº
into the brookº

And [Hezekiah{gr.Ezekias}] began on the first day, [even] on the new moon of the first month, to purify, and on the eighth day of the month they entered into the temple of the Lord: and they purified the house of the Lord in eight days; and on the thirteenth day of the first month they finished [the work]. |

And they went in to king Hezekiah{gr.Ezekias}, and said, We have purified all the things in the house of the Lord, the altar of whole-burnt-offering, and its vessels, and the table of shew-bread, and its vessels; |

the king,º
and said,ºº
We have cleansedººº
allº
the houseº
of Yahweh,º
and the altarº
of burnt offering,º
with allº
the vesselsº
thereof, and the shewbreadº
table,º

the vesselsº
thereof. |

and all the vessels which king Ahaz{gr.Achaz} polluted in his reign, in his apostasy, we have prepared and purified: behold, they are before the altar of the Lord. |

Moreover allº
the vessels,º
whichº
kingº
Ahazº
in his reignº
did cast awayºº
in his transgression,º
have we preparedºº
and sanctified,ºº
and, behold,º
they [are] beforeº
the altarº
of Yahweh.º |

29:20 ¶
And kin Hezekiah{gr.Ezekias} rose early in the morning, and gathered the chief men of the city, and went up to the house of the Lord. |

Then Hezekiahº
the kingº
rose early,ºº
and gatheredººº
the rulersº
of the city,º
and went upºº
to the houseº
of Yahweh.º |

29:21
And he brought seven calves, seven rams, seven lambs, seven kids of goats for a sin-offering, for the kingdom, and for the holy things, and for Israel: and he told the priests the sons of Aaron to go up to the altar of the Lord. |

and sevenº

goats,ºº
for a sin offeringº
forº
the kingdom,º
and forº
the sanctuary,º

And he commandedºº

And they slew the calves, and the priests received the blood, and poured it on the altar: and they slew the rams, and poured the blood upon the altar: also they slew the lambs, and poured the blood round the altar. |

So they killedºº
the bullocks,º
and the priestsº
receivedººº
the blood,º
and sprinkledºº
[it] on the altar:º
likewise, when they had killedºº
the rams,º
they sprinkledºº
the bloodº
upon the altar:º
they killedºº
also the lambs,º
and they sprinkledºº
the bloodº
upon the altar.º |

And they brought the goats for a sin-offering before the king and the congregation; and laid their hands upon them. |

And they brought forthººº

[for] the sin offeringº

and the congregation;º

their handsº

them: |

And the priests slew them, and offered their blood as a propitiation on the altar; and they made atonement for all Israel: for the king said, The whole-burnt-offering, and the sin-offering [are] for all Israel. |

them, and they made reconciliationºº

their bloodº
upon the altar,º
to make an atonementºº
forº
allº
Israel:º

[that] the burnt offeringº
and the sin offeringº
[should be made] for allº

And he stationed the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, and lutes, and harps, according to the commandment of king David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for by the commandment of the Lord the order [was] in the hand of the prophets. |

according to the commandmentº

And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. |

29:27
And Hezekiah{gr.Ezekias} told [them] to offer up the whole-burnt-offering on the altar: and when they began to offer the whole-burnt-offering, they began to sing to the Lord, and the trumpets [accompanied] the instruments of David king of Israel. |

And Hezekiahº

upon the altar.º
And whenº
the burnt offeringº
began,ºº
the songº
of Yahwehº
beganºº
[also] with the trumpets,º
and withº
the instrumentsºº
[ordained] byº
Davidº

And all the congregation worshipped, and the psalm-singers [were] singing, and the trumpets sounding, until the whole-burnt-sacrifice had been completely offered. |
|

And allº
the congregationº
worshipped,ºº
and the singersº
sang,ºº
and the trumpetersº
sounded:ºººº
[and] allº
[this continued] untilº
the burnt offeringº
was finished.ºº |

29:29
And when they had done offering [it], the king and all that were present bowed, and worshipped. |

And when they had made an endºº
of offering,ºº
the kingº
and allº
that were presentºº
withº
him bowedºº
themselves, and worshipped.ºº |

29:30
And king Hezekiah{gr.Ezekias} and the princes told the Levites to sing hymns to the Lord in the words of David, and of Asaph the prophet: and they sang hymns with gladness, and fell down and worshipped. |

Moreover Hezekiahº
the kingº
and the princesº
commandedºº
the Levitesº
to sing praiseºº
unto Yahwehº
with the wordsº
of David,º
and of Asaphº
the seer.º
And they sang praisesºº
withº
gladness,º
and they bowed their headsºº
and worshipped.ºº |

Then Hezekiah{gr.Ezekias} answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves to the Lord, bring near and offer sacrifices of praise in the house of the Lord. And the congregation brought sacrifices and thank-offerings into the house of the Lord; and every one who was ready in his heart [brought] whole-burnt-offerings. |

Then Hezekiahº
answeredºº
and said,ºº
Nowº
ye have consecratedººº
yourselves unto Yahweh,º
come nearºº
and bringºº
sacrificesº
and thank offeringsº
into the houseº
of Yahweh.º
And the congregationº
brought inºº
sacrificesº
and thank offerings;º
and as many asº
were of a freeº
heartº
burnt offerings.º |

29:32
And the number of the whole-burnt-offerings which the congregation brought, was seventy calves, a hundred rams, two hundred lambs: all these [were] for a whole-burnt-offering to the Lord. |
|

And the numberº
of the burnt offerings,º
whichº
the congregationº
brought,ºº
wasº
threescore and tenº
bullocks,º
an hundredº
rams,º
[and] two hundredº
lambs:º
allº
theseº
[were] for a burnt offeringº
to Yahweh.º |

And the consecrated calves were six hundred, [and] the sheep three thousand. |

And the consecrated thingsº
[were] sixº
hundredº
oxenº
and threeº
thousandº
sheep.º |
|
29:34
But the priests were few, and could not flay the whole-burnt-offering, so their brethren the Levites helped them, until the work was finished, and until the priests had purified themselves: for the Levites [more] zealously purified [themselves] than the priests. |

the priestsº
wereº
too few,º
so that they couldºº
notº
flayººº
allº
the burnt offerings:º
wherefore their brethrenº
the Levitesº
did helpºº
them, tillº
the workº
was ended,ºº
and untilº
the [other] priestsº
had sanctifiedºº
themselves:º
forº
the Levitesº
[were] more uprightº
in heartº
to sanctifyºº
themselvesº
than the priests.ºº |

And the whole-burnt-offering [was] abundant, with the fat of the complete peace-offering, and the drink-offerings of the whole-burnt-sacrifice. So the service was established in the house of the Lord. |

And alsoº
the burnt offeringsº
[were] in abundance,º
with the fatº
of the peace offerings,º
and the drink offeringsº
for [every] burnt offering.º
So the serviceº
of the houseº
of Yahwehº
was set in order.ºº |

29:36
And Hezekiah{gr.Ezekias} and all the people rejoiced, because God has prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly. |
