 12:1 ¶
Joash{gr.Joas} began to reign in the seventh year of Jehu{gr.Ju}, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Sabia of Beersheba{gr.Bersabee}. |
|
 12:1 ¶
In the seventhº
yearº
of Jehuº
Jehoashº
began to reign;ºº
and fortyº
yearsº
reignedºº
he in Jerusalem.º
And his mother'sº
nameº
[was] Zibiahº
of Beersheba.ºº |
|
 12:2
And Joash{gr.Joas} did that which was right in the sight of the Lord all the days that Jehoiada{gr.Jodae} the priest instructed him. |
 12:2
And Jehoashº
didºº
[that which was] rightº
in the sightº
of Yahwehº
allº
his daysº
whereinº
Jehoiadaº
the priestº
instructedºº
him. |
|
 12:3
Only there were not [any] of the high places removed, and the people still sacrificed there, and burned incense on the high places. |
 12:3
Butº
the high placesº
were notº
taken away:ºº
the peopleº
stillº
sacrificedºº
and burnt incenseºº
in the high places.º |
|
 12:4 ¶
And Joash{gr.Joas} said to the priests, [As for] all the money of the holy things that is brought into the house of the Lord, the money of valuation, [as] each man brings the money of valuation, all the money which any man may feel disposed to bring into the house of the Lord, |
 12:4 ¶
And Jehoashº
saidºº
toº
the priests,º
Allº
the moneyº
of the dedicated thingsº
thatº
is broughtºº
into the houseº
of Yahweh,º
[even] the moneyº
of every oneº
that passethºº
[the account], the moneyº
that every manº
is set at,º
[and] allº
the moneyº
thatº
comethºº
intoº
any man'sº
heartº
to bringºº
into the houseº
of Yahweh,º |
|
 12:5
let the priests take it to themselves, every man from [the proceeds of] his sale: and they shall repair the breaches of the house in all [places] wheresoever a breach shall be found. |
 12:5
Let the priestsº
takeºº
[it] to them, every manº
ofºº
his acquaintance:º
and let themº
repairººº
the breachesº
of the house,º
wheresoeverººº
any breachº
shall be found.ºº |
|
 12:6
And it came to pass in the twenty-third year of king Joash{gr.Joas} the priests [had] not repaired the breaches of the house. |
 12:6
But it wasº
[so, that] in the threeºº
and twentiethº
yearº
of kingº
Jehoashº
the priestsº
had notº
repairedººº
the breachesº
of the house.º |
|
 12:7
And king Joash{gr.Joas} called Jehoiada{gr.Jodae} the priest, and the [other] priests, and said to them, Why have ye not repaired the breaches of the house? now then receive no [more] money from your sales, for ye shall give it to [repair the] breaches of the house. |
 12:7
Then kingº
Jehoashº
calledºº
for Jehoiadaº
the priest,º
and the [other] priests,º
and saidºº
untoº
them, Whyº
repairºº
ye notºº
the breachesº
of the house?º
nowº
therefore receiveºº
noº
[more] moneyº
ofºº
your acquaintance,º
butº
deliverºº
it for the breachesº
of the house.º |
|
 12:8
And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, and not to repair the breaches of the house. |
 12:8
And the priestsº
consentedºº
to receiveºº
noº
[more] moneyº
ofºº
the people,º
neitherº
to repairººº
the breachesº
of the house.º |
|
 12:9
And Jehoiada{gr.Jodae} the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it by the altar in the house of a man [belonging to] the house of the Lord, and the priests that kept the door put [therein] all the money that was found in the house of the Lord. |
 12:9
But Jehoiadaº
the priestº
tookºº
aº
chest,º
and boredºº
a holeº
in the lidº
of it, and setºº
it besideº
the altar,º
on the right sideº
as oneº
comethºº
into the houseº
of Yahweh:º
and the priestsº
that keptºº
the doorº
putºº
thereinºº
allº
the moneyº
[that was] broughtºº
into the houseº
of Yahweh.º |
|
 12:10
And it came to pass, when they saw that [there was] much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest went up, and they tied up and counted the money that was found in the house of the Lord. |
 12:10
And it wasº
[so], when they sawºº
thatº
[there was] muchº
moneyº
in the chest,º
that the king'sº
scribeºº
and the highº
priestº
came up,ºº
and they put up in bags,ºº
and toldººº
the moneyº
that was foundºº
in the houseº
of Yahweh.º |
|
 12:11
And they gave the money that had been collected into the hands of them that wrought the works, the overseers of the house of the Lord; and they gave it out to the carpenters and to the builders that wrought in the house of the Lord. |
 12:11
And they gaveººº
the money,º
being told,ºº
intoº
the handsº
of them that didºº
the work,º
that had the oversightºººº
of the houseº
of Yahweh:º
and they laid it outºº
to the carpentersºº
and builders,ºº
that wroughtºº
upon the houseº
of Yahweh,º |
|
 12:12
And to the masons, and to the hewers of stone, to purchase timber and hewn stone to repair the breaches of the house of the Lord, for all that was spent on the house of the Lord to repair [it]. |
 12:12
And to masons,ºº
and hewersºº
of stone,º
and to buyºº
timberº
and hewedº
stoneº
to repairººº
the breachesº
of the houseº
of Yahweh,º
and for allº
thatº
was laid outºº
forº
the houseº
to repairº
[it]. |
|
 12:13
Only there were not to be made for the house of the Lord silver plates, studs, bowls, or trumpets, any vessel of gold or vessel of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the Lord: |
 12:13
Howbeitº
there were notº
madeºº
for the houseº
of Yahwehº
bowlsº
of silver,º
snuffers,º
basons,º
trumpets,º
anyº
vesselsº
of gold,º
or vesselsº
of silver,º
ofº
the moneyº
[that was] broughtºº
into the houseº
of Yahweh:º |
|
 12:14
for they were to give it to the workmen, and they repaired therewith the house of the Lord. |
 12:14
Butº
they gaveºº
that to the workmen,ººº
and repairedºº
therewithº
the houseº
of Yahweh.º |
|
 12:15
Also they took no account of the men into whose hands they gave the money to give to the workmen, for they acted faithfully. |
 12:15
Moreover they reckonedºº
notº
withº
the men,ºº
intoº
whoseº
handº
they deliveredººº
the moneyº
to be bestowedºº
on workmen:ºº
forº
theyº
dealtºº
faithfully.º |
|
 12:16
Money for a sin-offering, and money for a trespass-offering, whatever happened to be brought into the house of the Lord, went to the priests. |
 12:16
The trespassº
moneyº
and sinº
moneyº
was notº
broughtºº
into the houseº
of Yahweh:º
it wasº
the priests'.º |
|
 12:17 ¶
Then went up Hazael{gr.Azael} king of Syria, and fought against Gath{gr.Geth}, and took it: and Hazael{gr.Azael} set his face to go against Jerusalem. |
 12:17 ¶
Thenº
Hazaelº
kingº
of Syriaº
went up,ºº
and foughtºº
againstº
Gath,º
and tookºº
it: and Hazaelº
setºº
his faceº
to go upºº
toº
Jerusalem.º |
|
 12:18
And Joash{gr.Joas} king of Judah{gr.Juda} took all the holy things which Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat}, and Joram, Ahaziah{gr.Ochozias}, his fathers, and kings of Judah{gr.Juda} [had] consecrated, and what he had himself dedicated, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the Lord's house and the king's house, and he sent [them] to Hazael{gr.Azael} king of Syria; and he went up from Jerusalem. |
 12:18
And Jehoashº
kingº
of Judahº
tookººº
allº
the hallowed thingsº
thatº
Jehoshaphat,º
and Jehoram,º
and Ahaziah,º
his fathers,º
kingsº
of Judah,º
had dedicated,ºº
and his own hallowed things,º
and allº
the goldº
[that was] foundºº
in the treasuresº
of the houseº
of Yahweh,º
and in the king'sº
house,º
and sentºº
[it] to Hazaelº
kingº
of Syria:º
and he went awayºº
fromºº
Jerusalem.º |
|
 12:19 ¶
And the rest of the acts of Joash{gr.Joas}, and all that he did, behold, [are] not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah{gr.Juda}? |
 12:19 ¶
And the restº
of the actsº
of Joash,º
and allº
thatº
he did,ºº
[are] theyº
notº
writtenºº
inº
the bookº
of the chroniclesºº
of the kingsº
of Judah?º |
|
 12:20
And his servants rose up and made a conspiracy, and smote Joash{gr.Joas} in the house of Mallo that is in Sela. |
 12:20
And his servantsº
arose,ºº
and madeºº
a conspiracy,º
and slewººº
Joashº
in the houseº
of Millo,ººº
which goeth downºº
to Silla.º |
|
 12:21
And Jezirchar the son of Jemuath, and Jezabuth Somer's son, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah{gr.Amessias} his son reigned in his stead. |
 12:21
For Jozacharº
the sonº
of Shimeath,º
and Jehozabadº
the sonº
of Shomer,º
his servants,º
smoteºº
him, and he died;ºº
and they buriedºº
him withº
his fathersº
in the cityº
of David:º
and Amaziahº
his sonº
reignedºº
in his stead.º |
