And Dawid consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, [and] with every leader. |

unto allº
the congregationº

Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
Ifº
[it seem] goodºº
untoº
you, and [that it be] ofº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
let us sendºº
abroadºº
untoº
our brethrenº
every where, [that are] leftºº
in allº
the landº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
and withº
them [also] to the priestsº
and
Læwiyyim
לְוִיִּםº
[which are] in their citiesº
[and] suburbs,º
that they may gatherºº
themselvesº
untoº
us: |

13:2
And Dawid said unto all the congregation of Yisrael, If [it seem] good unto you, and [that it be] of Yahweh our Elohim, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, [that are] left in all the land of Yisrael, and with them [also] to the priests and Lewiyyim [which are] in their cities [and] suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us: |

And let us bring againººº
the arkº
of our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
toº
us: forº
we enquiredºº
notº
at it in the daysº
of
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל.º |

13:3
And let us bring again the ark of our Elohim to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Shaul. |
|
13:4
And allº
the congregationº
saidºº
that they would doº
so:ººº
forº
the thingº
was rightºº
in the eyesº
of allº
the people.º |
|
13:4
And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. |
|
13:5

Mixrayim
מִצרַיִםº
even untoº
the enteringºº

to bringººº
the arkº
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
from
Kirya± Yæ`ärîm
קִריַת־יְעָרִים.ºº |

13:5
So Dawid gathered all Yisrael together, from Shichor of Mitzrayim even unto the entering of Chamath, to bring the ark of Elohim from Qiryath-Yearim. |

And

went up,ºº
and allº

יִשׂרָאֵל,º
to
Ba`álà
בַּעֲלָה,º
[that is], toº
Kirya± Yæ`ärîm
קִריַת־יְעָרִים,º
whichº
[belonged] to
Yæhûðà
יְהוּדָה,º
to bring upºº
thenceººº
the arkº
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
that dwellethºº
[between] the cherubims,º
whoseº
nameº
is calledºº
[on it]. |

13:6
And Dawid went up, and all Yisrael, to Baalah, [that is], to Qiryath-Yearim, which [belonged] to Yehudah, to bring up thence the ark of Elohim Yahweh, that dwelleth [between] the cherubims, whose name is called [on it]. |

And they carriedººº
the arkº
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
inº
a newº
cartº
out of the houseºº
of
´Ávînäðäv
אֲבִינָדָב:º
and
`Uzzä´
עֻזָּאº
and
´Açyô
אַחיוֹº
draveºº
the cart.º |

13:7
And they carried the ark of Elohim in a new cart out of the house of Avinadav: and Uzza and Achyo drave the cart. |

13:8
And

יִשׂרָאֵלº
playedºº
beforeº
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
with allº
[their] might,º
and with singing,º
and with harps,º
and with psalteries,º
and with timbrels,º
and with cymbals,º
and with trumpets.º |

13:8
And Dawid and all Yisrael played before Elohim with all [their] might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets. |
|
13:9 ¶
And when they cameºº
untoº
the threshingfloorº
of
Cîðön
כִּידֹן,º
`Uzzä´
עֻזָּאº
put forthººº
his handº
to holdººº
the ark;º
forº
the oxenº
stumbled.ºº |

13:9 ¶
And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Kidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled. |
|
13:10
And the angerº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
was kindledºº
against
`Uzzä´
עֻזָּא,º
and he smoteººº
him, becauseºº
he putºº
his handº
toº
the ark:º
and thereº
he diedºº
beforeº
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.º |

13:10
And the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before Elohim. |
|
13:11
And

דָּוִדº
was displeased,ºº
becauseº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
had madeºº
a breachº
upon
`Uzzä´
עֻזָּא:º
wherefore thatº
placeº
is calledºº
Perex `Uzzä´
פֶּרֶץ־עֻזָּאº
toº
thisº
day.º |

And Dawid was displeased, because Yahweh had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Peretz-Uzza to this day. |

13:12
And

was afraidººº
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
thatº
day,º
saying,ºº
Howº
shall I bringººº
the arkº
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
[home] toº
me? |

13:12
And Dawid was afraid of Elohim that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of Elohim [home] to me? |
|
13:13
So

broughtºº
notºº
the arkº
[home] toº
himself toº
the cityº
of
Däwið
דָּוִד,º
but carried it asideºº
intoº
the houseº
of
`Övëð ´Éðôm
עֹבֵד־אֱדוֹםº
the
Gittî
גִּתִּי.º |

13:13
So Dawid brought not the ark [home] to himself to the city of Dawid, but carried it aside into the house of Oved-Edom the Gitti. |
|
13:14
And the arkº
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
remainedºº
withº
the familyº
of
`Övëð ´Éðôm
עֹבֵד־אֱדוֹםº
in his houseº
threeº
months.º
And
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
blessedººº
the houseº
of
`Övëð ´Éðôm
עֹבֵד־אֱדוֹם,º
and allº
thatº
he had. |

13:14
And the ark of Elohim remained with the family of Oved-Edom in his house three months. And Yahweh blessed the house of Oved-Edom, and all that he had. |
