Now in the eighteenth year of king Yorovam the son of Nevat reigned Aviyyam over Yehudah. |

Three years reigned he in Yerushalaim. And his mother's name [was] Maakhah, the daughter of Avishalom. |

him: and his heartº

perfectº
withº

And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with Yahweh his Elohim, as the heart of Dawid his father. |

Neverthelessº

giveºº
him a lampº

Nevertheless for Dawid's sake did Yahweh his Elohim give him a lamp in Yerushalaim, to set up his son after him, and to establish Yerushalaim: |

יָהוֶה,º
and turned not asideººº
from anyºº
[thing] thatº
he commandedºº

Because Dawid did [that which was] right in the eyes of Yahweh, and turned not aside from any [thing] that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriyyah the Chitti. |

Now the rest of the acts of Aviyyam, and all that he did, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah? And there was war between Aviyyam and Yorovam. |

And in the twentieth year of Yorovam king of Yisrael reigned Asa over Yehudah. |

And his mother'sº

And forty and one years reigned he in Yerushalaim. And his mother's name [was] Maakhah, the daughter of Avishalom. |

And Asa did [that which was] right in the eyes of Yahweh, as [did] Dawid his father. |

And he took awayºº
the sodomitesº
out ofº
the land,º
and removedººº
allº
the idolsº
thatº
his fathersº
had made.ºº |

15:12
And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. |
|
15:13
And alsoºº

his mother,º
even her he removedºº
from [being] queen,ºº
becauseº
she had madeºº
an idolº
in a grove;º
and

destroyedººº
her idol,º

And also Maakhah his mother, even her he removed from [being] queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt [it] by the brook Qidron. |

But the high placesº

neverthelessº

perfectº

But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with Yahweh all his days. |

which his fatherº
had dedicated,º
and the things which himself had dedicated,º
into the houseº

silver,º
and gold,º
and vessels.º |

And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of Yahweh, silver, and gold, and vessels. |

And there was war between Asa and Basha king of Yisrael all their days. |

And Basha king of Yisrael went up against Yehudah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Yehudah. |

Then Asa took all the silver and the gold [that were] left in the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Ben-Hadad, the son of Tavrimmon, the son of Chezyon, king of Aram, that dwelt at Dammaseq, saying, |

[There is] a league between me and thee, [and] between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Basha king of Yisrael, that he may depart from me. |

So Ben-Hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Yisrael, and smote Iyyon, and Dan, and Avel-Beth-Maakhah, and all Kinroth, with all the land of Naftali. |

And it came to pass,º

Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Yehudah; none [was] exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Basha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geva of Binyamin, and Mitzpah. |

of his father,º
and in his sinº
wherewithº
he made

And he did evil in the sight of Yahweh, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Yisrael to sin. |

And Basha the son of Achiyyah, of the house of Yissaskhar, conspired against him; and Basha smote him at Gibbethon, which [belonged] to the Pelishtim; for Nadav and all Yisrael laid siege to Gibbethon. |

And it came to pass, when he reigned, [that] he smote all the house of Yorovam; he left not to Yorovam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of Yahweh, which he spake by his servant Achiyyah the Shiloni: |
