 4:1 ¶ So kingº Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹהº wasº kingº overº allº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.º

 4:1 ¶ So king Shelomoh was king over all Yisrael.

 4:2 And theseº [were] the princesº whichº he had; `Ázaryà עֲזַריָהº the sonº of Xäðôk צָדוֹקº the priest,º

 4:2 And these [were] the princes which he had; Azaryah the son of Tzadoq the priest,

 4:3 ´Élîçöref אֱלִיחֹרֶףº and ´Áçiyyà אֲחִיָּה,º the sonsº of Šîšä´ שִׁישָׁא,º scribes;ºº Yæhôšäfä+ יְהוֹשָׁפָטº the sonº of ´Áçîlûð אֲחִילוּד,º the recorder.ºº

 4:3 Elichoref and Achiyyah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Yehoshafat the son of Achilud, the recorder.

 4:4 And Bænäyà בְּנָיָהº the sonº of Yæhôyäðä` יְהוֹיָדָעº [was] overº the host:º and Xäðôk צָדוֹקº and ´Evyä±är אֶביָתָרº [were] the priests:º

 4:4 And Benayah the son of Yehoyada [was] over the host: and Tzadoq and Evyathar [were] the priests:

 4:5 And `Ázaryà עֲזַריָהº the sonº of Nä±än נָתָןº [was] overº the officers:ºº and Zävûð זָבוּדº the sonº of Nä±än נָתָןº [was] principal officer,º [and] the king'sº friend:º

 4:5 And Azaryah the son of Nathan [was] over the officers: and Zavud the son of Nathan [was] principal officer, [and] the king's friend:

 4:6 And ´Áçîšär אֲחִישָׁרº [was] overº the household:º and ´Áðönîräm אֲדֹנִירָםº the sonº of `Avdä´ עַבדָּאº [was] overº the tribute.º

 4:6 And Achishar [was] over the household: and Adoniram the son of Avda [was] over the tribute.

 4:7 ¶ And Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹהº had twelveºº officersºº overº allº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º which provided victualsºº forº the kingº and his household:º each manº his monthº in a yearº made provision.ºº

 4:7 ¶ And Shelomoh had twelve officers over all Yisrael, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

 4:8 And theseº [are] their names:º The son of Çûr חוּר,º in mountº ´Efrayim אֶפרַיִם:º

 4:8 And these [are] their names: The son of Chur, in mount Efrayim:

 4:9 The son of Deker דֶּקֶר,ººº in Mäkax מָקַץ,º and in Ša`alvîm שַׁעַלבִים,º and Bê± Šemeš בֵּית־שֶׁמֶשׁ,º and ´Êlôn Bê± Çänän אֵילוֹן־בֵּית־חָנָן:º

 4:9 The son of Deqer, in Maqatz, and in Shaalvim, and Beth-Shemesh, and Elon-Beth-Chanan:

 4:10 The son of Çeseð חֶסֶד,ººº in ´Árubbô± אֲרֻבּוֹת;º to him [pertained] §ô¢ò שׂוֹכֹה,º and allº the landº of Çëfer חֵפֶר:º

 4:10 The son of Chesed, in Arubboth; to him [pertained] Sokhoh, and all the land of Chefer:

 4:11 The son of ´Ávînäðäv אֲבִינָדָב,º in allº the regionº of Dôr דּוֹר;º which had †äfa± טָפַתº the daughterº of Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹהº to wife:º

 4:11 The son of Avinadav, in all the region of Dor; which had Tafath the daughter of Shelomoh to wife:

 4:12 Ba`ánä´ בַּעֲנָאº the sonº of ´Áçîlûð אֲחִילוּד;º [to him pertained] Ta`na¢ תַּענַךº and Mæqiddô מְגִדּוֹ,º and allº Bê± Šæ´än בֵּית־שְׁאָן,º whichº [is] byº Xor±anà צָרתַנָהº beneathºº Yizræ`e´l יִזרְעֶאל,º from Bê± Šæ´än בֵּית־שְׁאָןºº toº ´Ävël Mæçôlà אָבֵל־מְחוֹלָה,º [even] untoº [the place that is] beyondºº Yokmó`äm יָקמֳעָם:º

 4:12 Baana the son of Achilud; [to him pertained] Tanakh and Megiddo, and all Beth-Shean, which [is] by Tzorthanah beneath Yizreel, from Beth-Shean to Avel-Mecholah, [even] unto [the place that is] beyond Yoqmoam:

 4:13 The son of Gever גֶּבֶר,º in Rämô± Gil`äð רָמוֹת־גִּלעָד;ºº to him [pertained] the townsº of Yä´îr יָאִירº the sonº of Mænaššè מְנַשֶּׁה,º whichº [are] in Gil`äð גִּלעָד;º to him [also pertained] the regionº of ´Argöv אַרגֹּב,º whichº [is] in Bäšän בָּשָׁן,º threescoreº greatº citiesº with wallsº and brasenº bars:º

 4:13 The son of Gever, in Ramoth-Gilad; to him [pertained] the towns of Yair the son of Menashsheh, which [are] in Gilad; to him [also pertained] the region of Argov, which [is] in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

 4:14 ´Áçînäðäv אֲחִינָדָבº the sonº of `Iddô´ עִדּוֹאº [had] Maçánayim מַחֲנַיִם:º

 4:14 Achinadav the son of Iddo [had] Machanayim:

 4:15 ´Áçîma`ax אֲחִימַעַץº [was] in Naftälî נַפתָּלִי;º heº alsoº tookººº Bä$ma± בָּשׂמַתº the daughterº of Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹהº to wife:º

 4:15 Achimaatz [was] in Naftali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Shelomoh to wife:

 4:16 Ba`ánà בַּעֲנָהº the sonº of Çûšay חוּשַׁיº [was] in ´Äšër אָשֵׁרº and in `Älô± עָלוֹת:º

 4:16 Baanah the son of Chushay [was] in Asher and in Aloth:

 4:17 Yæhôšäfä+ יְהוֹשָׁפָטº the sonº of Pärûåç פָּרוּחַ,º in Yi$$äj¢är יִשָּׂשכָר:º

 4:17 Yehoshafat the son of Paruach, in Yissaskhar:

 4:18 Šim`î שִׁמעִיº the sonº of ´Ëlä´ אֵלָא,º in Binyämîn בִּניָמִין:º

 4:18 Shimi the son of Ela, in Binyamin:

 4:19 Gever גֶּבֶרº the sonº of ´Ûrî אוּרִיº [was] in the countryº of Gil`äð גִּלעָד,º [in] the countryº of Sîçôn סִיחוֹןº kingº of the ´Émörîm אֱמֹרִים,º and of `Ôq עוֹגº kingº of Bäšän בָּשָׁן;º and [he was] the onlyº officerº whichº [was] in the land.º

 4:19 Gever the son of Uri [was] in the country of Gilad, [in] the country of Sichon king of the Emorim, and of Og king of Bashan; and [he was] the only officer which [was] in the land.

 4:20 ¶ Yæhûðà יְהוּדָהº and Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº [were] many,º as the sandº whichº [is] byº the seaº in multitude,º eatingºº and drinking,ºº and making merry.º

 4:20 ¶ Yehudah and Yisrael [were] many, as the sand which [is] by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

 4:21 And Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹהº reignedºº over allº kingdomsº fromº the riverº unto the landº of the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים,º and untoº the borderº of Mixrayim מִצרַיִם:º they broughtºº presents,º and servedººº Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹהº allº the daysº of his life.º

 4:21 And Shelomoh reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Pelishtim, and unto the border of Mitzrayim: they brought presents, and served Shelomoh all the days of his life.

 4:22 ¶ And Šælömò's שְׁלֹמֹהº provisionº for oneº dayº wasº thirtyº measuresº of fine flour,º and threescoreº measuresº of meal,º

 4:22 ¶ And Shelomoh's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

 4:23 Tenº fatº oxen,º and twentyº oxenº out of the pastures,º and an hundredº sheep,º besideº harts,ºº and roebucks,º and fallowdeer,º and fattedºº fowl.º

 4:23 Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

 4:24 Forº heº had dominionºº over allº [the region] on this sideº the river,º from Tifsaç תִּפסַחºº even toº `Azzà עַזָּה,º over allº the kingsº on this sideº the river:º and he hadº peaceº on allºº sidesººº round aboutºº him.

 4:24 For he had dominion over all [the region] on this side the river, from Tifsach even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

 4:25 And Yæhûðà יְהוּדָהº and Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº dweltºº safely,º every manº underº his vineº and underº his fig tree,º from Dän דָּןºº even toº Bæ´ër Ševa` בְּאֵר־שֶׁבַע,º allº the daysº of Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה.º

 4:25 And Yehudah and Yisrael dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beer-Sheva, all the days of Shelomoh.

 4:26 ¶ And Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹהº hadº fortyº thousandº stallsº of horsesº for his chariots,º and twelveºº thousandº horsemen.º

 4:26 ¶ And Shelomoh had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

 4:27 And thoseº officersºº provided victualºº forº kingº Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה,º and for allº that cameº untoº kingº Šælömò's שְׁלֹמֹהº table,º every manº in his month:º they lackedºº nothing.ºº

 4:27 And those officers provided victual for king Shelomoh, and for all that came unto king Shelomoh's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

 4:28 Barleyº also and strawº for the horsesº and dromedariesº broughtºº they untoº the placeº whereºº [the officers] were,º every manº according to his charge.º

 4:28 Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where [the officers] were, every man according to his charge.

 4:29 ¶ And ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº gaveºº Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹהº wisdomº and understandingº exceedingº much,ºº and largenessº of heart,º even as the sandº thatº [is] onº the seaº shore.º

 4:29 ¶ And Elohim gave Shelomoh wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that [is] on the sea shore.

 4:30 And Šælömò's שְׁלֹמֹהº wisdomº excelledºº the wisdomººº of allº the childrenº of the east country,º and allºº the wisdomº of Mixrayim מִצרַיִם.º

 4:30 And Shelomoh's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Mitzrayim.

 4:31 For he was wiserºº than allºº men;º than ´Ê±än אֵיתָןºº the ´Ezräçî אֶזרָחִי,º and Hêmän הֵימָן,º and Calcöl כַּלכֹּל,º and Darda` דַּרדַּע,º the sonsº of Mäçôl מָחוֹל:º and his fameº wasº in allº nationsº round about.º

 4:31 For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrachi, and Heman, and Kalkol, and Darda, the sons of Machol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

 4:32 And he spakeºº threeº thousandº proverbs:º and his songsº wereº a thousandº and five.º

 4:32 And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

 4:33 And he spakeºº ofº trees,º fromº the cedar treeº thatº [is] in Lævänôn לְבָנוֹןº even untoº the hyssopº thatº springeth outºº of the wall:º he spakeºº also ofº beasts,º and ofº fowl,º and ofº creeping things,º and ofº fishes.º

 4:33 And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that [is] in Levanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

 4:34 And there cameºº of allºº peopleº to hearººº the wisdomº of Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה,º fromºº allº kingsº of the earth,º whichº had heardºº ofºº his wisdom.º

 4:34 And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Shelomoh, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
