 14:1 ¶ Then cameºº certainºº of the eldersºº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº untoº me, and satºº beforeº me.

 14:1 ¶ Then came certain of the elders of Yisrael unto me, and sat before me.

 14:2 And the wordº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº cameº untoº me, saying,ºº

 14:2 And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying,

 14:3 Sonº of man,º theseº menºº have set upºº their idolsº inº their heart,º and putºº the stumblingblockº of their iniquityº beforeº their face:º should I be enquiredºº of at allºº by them?

 14:3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?

 14:4 Thereforeº speakºº unto them, and sayºº untoº them, Thusº saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה;º Every manº of the houseºº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº thatº setteth upººº his idolsº inº his heart,º and puttethºº the stumblingblockº of his iniquityº beforeº his face,º and comethºº toº the prophet;º Iº Yähwè יָהוֶהº will answerºº him that comethºº according to the multitudeº of his idols;º

 14:4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith Adonay Yahweh; Every man of the house of Yisrael that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I Yahweh will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;

 14:5 Thatº I may takeººº the houseº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº in their own heart,º becauseº they are allº estrangedºº fromºº me through their idols.º

 14:5 That I may take the house of Yisrael in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

 14:6 ¶ Thereforeº sayºº untoº the houseº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º Thusº saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה;º Repent,ºº and turnºº [yourselves] fromºº your idols;º and turn awayºº your facesº fromºº allº your abominations.º

 14:6 ¶ Therefore say unto the house of Yisrael, Thus saith Adonay Yahweh; Repent, and turn [yourselves] from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

 14:7 Forº every oneº of the houseºº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º or of the strangerºº thatº sojournethºº in Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º which separatethºº himselfº fromºº me,º and setteth upºº his idolsº inº his heart,º and puttethºº the stumblingblockº of his iniquityº beforeº his face,º and comethºº toº a prophetº to enquireºº of him concerning me; Iº Yähwè יָהוֶהº will answerºº him by myself:

 14:7 For every one of the house of Yisrael, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Yisrael, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I Yahweh will answer him by myself:

 14:8 And I will setºº my faceº against thatº man,º and will makeººº him a signº and a proverb,º and I will cut him offºº from the midstºº of my people;º and ye shall knowºº thatº Iº [am] Yähwè יָהוֶה.º

 14:8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I [am] Yahweh.

 14:9 And ifº the prophetº be deceivedºº when he hath spokenºº a thing,º Iº Yähwè יָהוֶהº have deceivedººº thatº prophet,º and I will stretch outººº my handº uponº him, and will destroyºº him from the midstºº of my peopleº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.º

 14:9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I Yahweh have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Yisrael.

 14:10 And they shall bearºº the punishment of their iniquity:º the punishmentº of the prophetº shall beº even as the punishmentº of him that seekethºº [unto him];

 14:10 And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh [unto him];

 14:11 Thatº the houseº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº may go noº moreº astrayºº fromºº me,º neitherº be pollutedºº any moreº with allº their transgressions;º but that they may beº my people,º and Iº may beº their ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,º saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה.º

 14:11 That the house of Yisrael may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their Elohim, saith Adonay Yahweh.

 14:12 ¶ The wordº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº cameº again toº me, saying,ºº

 14:12 ¶ The word of Yahweh came again to me, saying,

 14:13 Sonº of man,º whenº the landº sinnethºº against me by trespassingºº grievously,º then will I stretch outºº mine handº uponº it, and will breakºº the staffº of the breadº thereof, and will sendºº famineº upon it, and will cut offºº manº and beastº fromº it:

 14:13 Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:

 14:14 Though theseº threeº men,ºº Nöåç נֹחַ,º Däniyyë´l דָּנִיֵּאל,º and ´Iyyôv אִיּוֹב,º wereº inº it,º theyº should deliverºº [but] their own soulsº by their righteousness,º saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה.º

 14:14 Though these three men, Noach, Daniyyel, and Iyyov, were in it, they should deliver [but] their own souls by their righteousness, saith Adonay Yahweh.

 14:15 ¶ Ifº I cause noisomeº beastsº to passº throughºº the land,º and they spoilºº it, so that it beº desolate,º that no manºº may pass throughºº becauseºº of the beasts:º

 14:15 ¶ If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:

 14:16 [Though] theseº threeº menºº [were] inº it,º [as] Iº live,º saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º theyº shall deliverºº neitherº sonsº norº daughters;º they onlyº shall be delivered,ºº but the landº shall beº desolate.º

 14:16 [Though] these three men [were] in it, [as] I live, saith Adonay Yahweh, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.

 14:17 ¶ Orº [if] I bringºº a swordº uponº thatº land,º and say,ºº Sword,º goº throughºº the land;º so that I cut offºº manº and beastº fromº it:

 14:17 ¶ Or [if] I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:

 14:18 Though theseº threeº menºº [were] inº it,º [as] Iº live,º saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º they shall deliverºº neitherº sonsº nor daughters,º butº theyº onlyº shall be deliveredºº themselves.º

 14:18 Though these three men [were] in it, [as] I live, saith Adonay Yahweh, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.

 14:19 ¶ Orº [if] I sendºº a pestilenceº intoº thatº land,º and pour outºº my furyº uponº it in blood,º to cut offºº fromº it manº and beast:º

 14:19 ¶ Or [if] I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:

 14:20 Though Nöåç נֹחַ,º Däniyyë´l דָּנִיֵּאל,º and ´Iyyôv אִיּוֹב,º [were] inº it,º [as] Iº live,º saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º theyº shall deliverºº neitherº sonº norº daughter;º they shall [but] deliverºº their own soulsº by their righteousness.º

 14:20 Though Noach, Daniyyel, and Iyyov, [were] in it, [as] I live, saith Adonay Yahweh, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall [but] deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

 14:21 Forº thusº saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה;º How much moreº whenº I sendºº my fourº soreº judgmentsº uponº Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם,º the sword,º and the famine,º and the noisomeº beast,º and the pestilence,º to cut offºº fromº it manº and beast?º

 14:21 For thus saith Adonay Yahweh; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Yerushalaim, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

 14:22 ¶ Yet, behold,º therein shall be leftºº a remnantº that shall be brought forth,ºº [both] sonsº and daughters:º behold,º they shall come forthºº untoº you, and ye shall seeººº their wayº and their doings:º and ye shall be comfortedºº concerningº the evilº thatº I have broughtºº uponº Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם,º [even] concerningº allº thatº I have broughtºº uponº it.

 14:22 ¶ Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, [both] sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Yerushalaim, [even] concerning all that I have brought upon it.

 14:23 And they shall comfortºº you, whenº ye seeººº their waysº and their doings:º and ye shall knowºº thatº I have notº doneºº without causeºº allº thatº I have doneºº in it, saithºº ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה.º

 14:23 And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith Adonay Yahweh.
