Again the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying, |

33:2
Sonº
of man,º
speakºº
toº
the childrenº
of thy people,º
and sayºº
untoº
them, Whenº
I bringºº
the swordº
uponº
a land,º
if the peopleº
of the landº
takeºº
aº
manº
of their coasts,ºº
and setºº
him for their watchman:ºº |

33:2
Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: |

33:3
If when he seethººº
the swordº
comeºº
uponº
the land,º
he blowºº
the trumpet,º
and warnººº
the people;º |
|
33:3
If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; |
|
33:4
Then whosoeverºº
hearethººº
the soundº
of the trumpet,º
and taketh not warning;ººº
if the swordº
come,ºº
and take him away,ºº
his bloodº
shall beº
upon his own head.º |
|
33:4
Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. |
|
33:5
He heardººº
the soundº
of the trumpet,º
and took not warning;ººº
his bloodº
shall beº
upon him. But heº
that taketh warningºº
shall deliverºº
his soul.º |
|
33:5
He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. |
|
33:6
But ifº
the watchmanºº
seeººº
the swordº
come,ºº
and blowºº
notº
the trumpet,º
and the peopleº
be notº
warned;ºº
if the swordº
come,ºº
and takeºº
[any] personº
from amongº
them, heº
is taken awayºº
in his iniquity;º
but his bloodº
will I requireºº
at the watchman'sºº
hand.ºº |

But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take [any] person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand. |
|
33:7 ¶
So thou,º
O sonº
of man,º
I have setºº
thee a watchmanºº
unto the houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;º
therefore thou shalt hearºº
the wordº
at my mouth,ºº
and warnºº
them fromº
me. |
|
33:7 ¶
So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Yisrael; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. |
|
33:8
When I sayºº
unto the wicked,º
O wickedº
[man], thou shalt surelyºº
die;ºº
if thou dost notº
speakºº
to warnºº
the wickedº
from his way,ºº
thatº
wickedº
[man] shall dieºº
in his iniquity;º
but his bloodº
will I requireºº
at thine hand.ºº |

When I say unto the wicked, O wicked [man], thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. |
|
33:9
Nevertheless, ifº
thouº
warnºº
the wickedº
of his wayºº
to turnºº
fromº
it; if he do notº
turnºº
from his way,ºº
heº
shall dieºº
in his iniquity;º
but thouº
hast deliveredºº
thy soul.º |

33:9
Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. |
|
33:10
Therefore, O thouº
sonº
of man,º
speakºº
untoº
the houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;º
Thusº
ye speak,ºº
saying,ºº
Ifº
our transgressionsº
and our sinsº
[be] uponº
us, and weº
pine awayºº
in them, howº
should we then live?ºº |

Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Yisrael; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins [be] upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live? |

them, [As] Iº
live,º
saithºº
´Áðönäy
אֲדֹנָיº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
I have no pleasureººº
in the deathº
of the wicked;º
butºº
that the wickedº
turnºº
from his wayºº
and live:ºº
turnºº
ye, turnºº
ye from your evilº
ways;ºº
for whyº
will ye die,ºº
O houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל?º |

33:11
Say unto them, [As] I live, saith Adonay Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Yisrael? |
|
33:12
Therefore, thouº
sonº
of man,º
sayºº
untoº
the childrenº
of thy people,º
The righteousnessº
of the righteousº
shall notº
deliverºº
him in the dayº
of his transgression:º
as for the wickednessº
of the wicked,º
he shall notº
fallºº
thereby in the dayº
that he turnethºº
from his wickedness;ºº
neitherº
shall the righteousº
be ableºº
to liveºº
for his [righteousness] in the dayº
that he sinneth.ºº |

33:12
Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his [righteousness] in the day that he sinneth. |

When I shall sayºº
to the righteous,º
[that] he shall surelyºº
live;ºº
if heº
trustºº
toº
his own righteousness,º
and commitºº
iniquity,º
allº
his righteousnessesº
shall notº
be remembered;ºº
but for his iniquityº
thatº
he hath committed,ºº
he shall dieºº
for it. |

33:13
When I shall say to the righteous, [that] he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it. |
|
33:14
Again, when I sayºº
unto the wicked,º
Thou shalt surelyºº
die;ºº
if he turnºº
from his sin,ºº
and doºº
that which is lawfulº
and right;º |
|
33:14
Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; |
|
33:15
[If] the wickedº
restoreºº
the pledge,º
give againºº
that he had robbed,º
walkºº
in the statutesº
of life,º
withoutº
committingºº
iniquity;º
he shall surelyºº
live,ºº
he shall notº
die.ºº |

33:15
[If] the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. |
|
33:16
Noneºº
of his sinsº
thatº
he hath committedºº
shall be mentionedºº
unto him: he hath doneºº
that which is lawfulº
and right;º
he shall surelyºº
live.ºº |

33:16
None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live. |
|
33:17 ¶
Yet the childrenº
of thy peopleº
say,ºº
The wayº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
is not equal:ººº
but as for them,º
their wayº
is not equal.ººº |
|
33:17 ¶
Yet the children of thy people say, The way of Yahweh is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal. |
|
33:18
When the righteousº
turnethºº
from his righteousness,ºº
and committethºº
iniquity,º
he shall even dieºº
thereby. |
|
33:18
When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby. |
|
33:19
But if the wickedº
turnºº
from his wickedness,ºº
and doºº
that which is lawfulº
and right,º
heº
shall liveºº
thereby.º |
|
33:19
But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby. |
|
33:20 ¶
Yet ye say,ºº
The wayº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
is not equal.ººº
O ye houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
I will judgeºº
you every oneº
after his ways.º |
|
33:20 ¶
Yet ye say, The way of Yahweh is not equal. O ye house of Yisrael, I will judge you every one after his ways. |
|
33:21 ¶
And it came to passº
in the twelfthºº
yearº
of our captivity,º
in the tenthº
[month], in the fifthº
[day] of the month,º
[that] one that had escapedº
out of
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַםºº
cameºº
untoº
me, saying,ºº
The cityº
is smitten.ºº |

33:21 ¶
And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth [month], in the fifth [day] of the month, [that] one that had escaped out of Yerushalaim came unto me, saying, The city is smitten. |
|
33:22
Now the handº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
wasº
uponº
me in the evening,º
aforeº
he that was escapedº
came;ºº
and had openedººº
my mouth,º
untilº
he cameºº
toº
me in the morning;º
and my mouthº
was opened,ºº
and I was no more dumb.ºººº |

33:22
Now the hand of Yahweh was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb. |
|
33:23
Then the wordº

Yähwè
יָהוֶהº

untoº
me, saying,ºº |

33:23
Then the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying, |

33:24
Sonº
of man,º
they that inhabitºº
thoseº
wastesº
ofº
the landº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
speak,ºº
saying,ºº
´Avrähäm
אַברָהָםº
wasº
one,º
and he inheritedººº
the land:º
but weº
[are] many;º
the landº
is givenºº
us for inheritance.º |

33:24
Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Yisrael speak, saying, Avraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we [are] many; the land is given us for inheritance. |
|
33:25
Whereforeº
sayºº
untoº
them, Thusº
saithºº
´Áðönäy
אֲדֹנָיº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה;º
Ye eatºº
withº
the blood,º
and lift upºº
your eyesº
towardº
your idols,º
and shedºº
blood:º
and shall ye possessºº
the land?º |

Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith Adonay Yahweh; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land? |
|
33:26
Ye standºº
uponº
your sword,º
ye workºº
abomination,º
and ye defileºº
every oneºº
his neighbour'sº
wife:º
and shall ye possessºº
the land?º |

Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbour's wife: and shall ye possess the land? |
|
33:27
Sayºº
thou thusº
untoº
them, Thusº
saithºº
´Áðönäy
אֲדֹנָיº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה;º
[As] Iº
live,º
surelyºº
they thatº
[are] in the wastesº
shall fallºº
by the sword,º
and him thatº
[is] inº
the openº
fieldº
will I giveºº
to the beastsº
to be devoured,ºº
and they thatº
[be] in the fortsº
and in the cavesº
shall dieºº
of the pestilence.º |

33:27
Say thou thus unto them, Thus saith Adonay Yahweh; [As] I live, surely they that [are] in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that [is] in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that [be] in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence. |
|
33:28
For I will layººº
the landº
mostº
desolate,ºº
and the pompº
of her strengthº
shall cease;ºº
and the mountainsº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
shall be desolate,ºº
that noneºº
shall pass through.ºº |
|
33:28
For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Yisrael shall be desolate, that none shall pass through. |
|
33:29
Then shall they knowºº
thatº
Iº
[am]
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
when I have laidººº
the landº
mostº
desolateºº
because ofº
allº
their abominationsº
whichº
they have committed.ºº |
|
33:29
Then shall they know that I [am] Yahweh, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed. |
|
33:30 ¶
Also, thouº
sonº
of man,º
the childrenº
of thy peopleº
still are talkingºº
againstº
thee byº
the wallsº
and in the doorsº
of the houses,º
and speakºº
oneº
toº
another,º
every oneº
toº
his brother,º
saying,ºº
Come,ºº
I pray you,º
and hearºº
whatº
is the wordº
that cometh forthºº
fromºº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.º |

33:30 ¶
Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from Yahweh. |
|
33:31
And they comeºº
untoº
thee as the peopleº
cometh,º
and they sitºº
beforeº
thee [as] my people,º
and they hearººº
thy words,º
but they will notº
doºº
them: forº
with their mouthº
theyº
shewºº
much love,º
[but] their heartº
goethºº
afterº
their covetousness.º |

33:31
And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee [as] my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, [but] their heart goeth after their covetousness. |
|
33:32
And, lo,º
thou [art] unto them as a very lovelyº
songº
of one that hath a pleasantº
voice,º
and can play wellºº
on an instrument:ººº
for they hearººº
thy words,º
but they doºº
them not.º |
|
33:32
And, lo, thou [art] unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. |
|
33:33
And when this cometh to pass,ºº
(lo,º
it will come,)ºº
then shall they knowºº
thatº
a prophetº
hath beenº
amongº
them. |
|
33:33
And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them. |
