 27:1 ¶ Then cameºº the daughtersº of Xælofçäð צְלָפחָד,º the sonº of Çëfer חֵפֶר,º the sonº of Gil`äð גִּלעָד,º the sonº of Mä¢îr מָכִיר,º the sonº of Mænaššè מְנַשֶּׁה,º of the familiesº of Mænaššè מְנַשֶּׁהº the sonº of Yôsëf יוֹסֵף:º and theseº [are] the namesº of his daughters;º Maçlà מַחלָה,º Nöåç נֹחַ,º and Çoqlà חָגלָה,º and Milcà מִלכָּה,º and Tirxà תִּרצָה.º

 27:1 ¶ Then came the daughters of Tzelofchad, the son of Chefer, the son of Gilad, the son of Makhir, the son of Menashsheh, of the families of Menashsheh the son of Yosef: and these [are] the names of his daughters; Machlah, Noach, and Choglah, and Milkah, and Tirtzah.

 27:2 And they stoodºº beforeº Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º and beforeº ´El`äzär אֶלעָזָרº the priest,º and beforeº the princesº and allº the congregation,º [by] the doorº of the tabernacleº of the congregation,º saying,ºº

 27:2 And they stood before Mosheh, and before Elazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, [by] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

 27:3 Our fatherº diedºº in the wilderness,º and heº wasº notº inº the companyº of them that gathered themselves togetherºº againstº Yähwè יָהוֶהº in the companyº of Köraç קֹרַח;º butº diedºº in his own sin,º and hadº noº sons.º

 27:3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against Yahweh in the company of Qorach; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

 27:4 Whyº should the nameº of our fatherº be done awayºº from amongºº his family,º becauseº he hath noº son?º Giveºº unto us [therefore] a possessionº amongº the brethrenº of our father.º

 27:4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us [therefore] a possession among the brethren of our father.

 27:5 And Möšè מֹשֶׁהº broughtººº their causeº beforeº Yähwè יָהוֶה.º

 27:5 And Mosheh brought their cause before Yahweh.

 27:6 ¶ And Yähwè יָהוֶהº spakeºº untoº Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º saying,ºº

 27:6 ¶ And Yahweh spake unto Mosheh, saying,

 27:7 The daughtersº of Xælofçäð צְלָפחָדº speakºº right:º thou shalt surelyºº giveºº them a possessionº of an inheritanceº amongº their father'sº brethren;º and thou shalt causeº the inheritanceº of their fatherº to passºº unto them.

 27:7 The daughters of Tzelofchad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

 27:8 And thou shalt speakºº untoº the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º saying,ºº Ifº a manº die,ºº and have noº son,º then ye shall causeº his inheritanceº to passºº unto his daughter.º

 27:8 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Yisrael, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

 27:9 And ifº he have noº daughter,º then ye shall giveººº his inheritanceº unto his brethren.º

 27:9 And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

 27:10 And ifº he have noº brethren,º then ye shall giveººº his inheritanceº unto his father'sº brethren.º

 27:10 And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren.

 27:11 And ifº his fatherº have noº brethren,º then ye shall giveººº his inheritanceº unto his kinsmanº that is nextº toº him of his family,ºº and he shall possessºº it: and it shall beº unto the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº a statuteº of judgment,º asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedººº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 27:11 And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Yisrael a statute of judgment, as Yahweh commanded Mosheh.

 27:12 ¶ And Yähwè יָהוֶהº saidºº untoº Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º Get thee upºº intoº thisº mountº `Ávärîm עֲבָרִים,º and seeººº the landº whichº I have givenºº unto the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.º

 27:12 ¶ And Yahweh said unto Mosheh, Get thee up into this mount Avarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Yisrael.

 27:13 And when thou hast seenºº it, thouº alsoº shalt be gatheredºº untoº thy people,º asº ´Ahárön אַהֲרֹןº thy brotherº was gathered.ºº

 27:13 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aharon thy brother was gathered.

 27:14 Forº ye rebelledºº againstº my commandmentº in the desertº of Xin צִן,º in the strifeº of the congregation,º to sanctifyºº me at the waterº before their eyes:º thatº [is] the waterº of Mærîvà מְרִיבָהº in Käðëš קָדֵשׁº in the wildernessº of Xin צִן.º

 27:14 For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Tzin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that [is] the water of Merivah in Qadesh in the wilderness of Tzin.

 27:15 ¶ And Möšè מֹשֶׁהº spakeºº untoº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º saying,ºº

 27:15 ¶ And Mosheh spake unto Yahweh, saying,

 27:16 Let Yähwè יָהוֶה,º the ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº of the spiritsº of allº flesh,º setºº a manº overº the congregation,º

 27:16 Let Yahweh, the Elohim of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

 27:17 Whichº may go outºº beforeº them, and whichº may go inºº beforeº them, and whichº may lead them out,ºº and whichº may bring them in;ºº that the congregationº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº beº notº as sheepº whichº have noº shepherd.ºº

 27:17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of Yahweh be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

 27:18 ¶ And Yähwè יָהוֶהº saidºº untoº Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º Takeºº theeº Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº the sonº of Nûn נוּן,º a manº in whomº [is] the spirit,º and layººº thine handº uponº him;

 27:18 ¶ And Yahweh said unto Mosheh, Take thee Yehoshua the son of Nun, a man in whom [is] the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

 27:19 And setºº him beforeº ´El`äzär אֶלעָזָרº the priest,º and beforeº allº the congregation;º and give him a chargeººº in their sight.º

 27:19 And set him before Elazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

 27:20 And thou shalt putºº [some] of thine honourºº uponº him, thatº allº the congregationº of the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº may be obedient.ºº

 27:20 And thou shalt put [some] of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Yisrael may be obedient.

 27:21 And he shall standºº beforeº ´El`äzär אֶלעָזָרº the priest,º who shall askºº [counsel] for him after the judgmentº of ´Ûrîm אוּרִיםº beforeº Yähwè יָהוֶה:º atº his wordº shall they go out,ºº and atº his wordº they shall come in,ºº [both] he,º and allº the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº withº him, even allº the congregation.º

 27:21 And he shall stand before Elazar the priest, who shall ask [counsel] for him after the judgment of Urim before Yahweh: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, [both] he, and all the children of Yisrael with him, even all the congregation.

 27:22 And Möšè מֹשֶׁהº didºº asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedºº him: and he tookººº Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַ,º and setºº him beforeº ´El`äzär אֶלעָזָרº the priest,º and beforeº allº the congregation:º

 27:22 And Mosheh did as Yahweh commanded him: and he took Yehoshua, and set him before Elazar the priest, and before all the congregation:

 27:23 And he laidººº his handsº uponº him, and gave him a charge,ºº asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedºº by the handº of Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 27:23 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as Yahweh commanded by the hand of Mosheh.
