Isaiah 16

1 Moab is exhorted to yield obedience to Christ's Kingdom. 6 Moab is threatened for her pride. 9 The prophet bewaileth her. 12 The judgment of Moab.

 16:1 Send 7971 the [tribute] lamb 3733c to the ruler 4910 of the land 776, From Sela 5554 by way of the wilderness 4057b to the mountain 2022 of the daughter 1323 of Zion 6726.

 16:2 Then, like fleeing 5074 birds 5775 [or] scattered 7971 nestlings 7064, The daughters 1323 of Moab 4124 will be at the fords 4569b of the Arnon 769.

 16:3 “Give 935 [us] advice 6098, make 6213a a decision 6415; Cast 7896 your shadow 6738 like night 3915 at high 8432 noon 6672a; Hide 5641 the outcasts 5080, do not betray 1540 the fugitive 5074.

 16:4 “Let the outcasts 5080 of Moab 4124 stay 1481a with you; Be a hiding 5643 place 5643a to them from the destroyer 7703.” For the extortioner 4671a has come 656 to an end 656, destruction 7701 has ceased 3615, Oppressors 7429 have completely 8552 [disappeared] from the land 776.

 16:5 A throne 3678 will even be established 3559 in lovingkindness 2617a, And a judge 8199 will sit 3427 on it in faithfulness 571 in the tent 168 of David 1732; Moreover, he will seek 1875 justice 4941 And be prompt 4106 in righteousness 6664.

 16:6 ¶ We have heard 8085 of the pride 1347b of Moab 4124, an excessive 3966 pride 1343; [Even] of his arrogance 1346, pride 1347b, and fury 5678; His idle 907 boasts 907 are false 3808 3653.

 16:7 Therefore 3651 Moab 4124 will wail 3213; everyone 3605 of Moab 4124 will wail 3213. You will moan 1897 for the raisin 809 cakes 809 of Kir-hareseth 7025 As those who 5218a are utterly 389 stricken 5218a.

 16:8 For the fields 7709 of Heshbon 2809 have withered 535, the vines 1612 of Sibmah 7643 [as well]; The lords 1167 of the nations 1471 have trampled 1986 down 1986 its choice 8291 clusters 8291 Which reached 5060 as far 5704 as Jazer 3270 [and] wandered 8582 to the deserts 4057b; Its tendrils 7976 spread 5203 themselves out [and] passed 5674a over 5674a the sea 3220.

 16:9 Therefore 5921 3651 I will weep 1058 bitterly 1065 for Jazer 3270, for the vine 1612 of Sibmah 7643; I will drench 7301 you with my tears 1832, O Heshbon 2809 and Elealeh 500; For the shouting 1959 over 5921 your summer 7019c fruits 7019c and your harvest 7105a has fallen 5307 away 5307.

 16:13 ¶ This 2088 is the word 1697 which 834 the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 earlier 3975b concerning 413 Moab 4124.

 16:14 But now 6258 the LORD 3068 speaks 1696, saying 559, “Within three 7969 years 8141, as a hired 7916 man 7916 would count 8141 them, the glory 3519b of Moab 4124 will be degraded 7034 along with all 3605 [his] great 7227a population 1995, and [his] remnant 7605 will be very 4213 small 4592 [and] impotent 3808 3524.”
