Isaiah 59

1 The damnable nature of sin. 3 The sins of the Jews. 9 Calamity is for sin. 16 Salvation is only of God. 20 The Covenant of the Redeemer.

 59:1 Behold 2005, the LORD’S 3068 hand 3027 is not so 4480 short 7114a That it cannot 4480 save 3467; Nor 3808 is His ear 241 so 4480 dull 3513 That it cannot 4480 hear 8085.

 59:2 But your iniquities 5771 have made 914 a separation 914 between 996 you and your God 430, And your sins 2403b have hidden 5641 [His] face 6440 from you so 4480 that He does not hear 8085.

 59:3 For your hands 3709 are defiled 1351 with blood 1818 And your fingers 676 with iniquity 5771; Your lips 8193 have spoken 1696 falsehood 8267, Your tongue 3956 mutters 1897 wickedness 5767b.

 59:4 No 369 one 369 sues 7121 righteously 6664 and no 369 one 369 pleads 8199 honestly 530. They trust 982 in confusion 8414 and speak 1696 lies 7723; They conceive 2029 mischief 5999 and bring 3205 forth 3205 iniquity 205.

 59:5 They hatch 1234 adders’ 6848b eggs 1000 and weave 707 the spider’s 5908 web 6980; He who eats 398 of their eggs 1000 dies 4191, And [from] that which is crushed 2115 a snake 660 breaks 1234 forth 1234.

 59:6 Their webs 6980 will not become 1961 clothing 899b, Nor 3808 will they cover 3680 themselves with their works 4639; Their works 4639 are works 4639 of iniquity 205, And an act 6467 of violence 2555 is in their hands 3709.

 59:7 Their feet 7272 run 7323 to evil 7451b, And they hasten 4116 to shed 8210 innocent 5355a blood 1818; Their thoughts 4284 are thoughts 4284 of iniquity 205, Devastation 7701 and destruction 7667 are in their highways 4546.

 59:8 They do not know 3045 the way 1870 of peace 7965, And there 369 is no 369 justice 4941 in their tracks 4570; They have made 6140 their paths 5410b crooked 6140, Whoever 3605 treads 1869 on them does not know 3045 peace 7965.

 59:9 ¶ Therefore 5921 3651 justice 4941 is far 7368 from us, And righteousness 6666 does not overtake 5381 us; We hope 6960a for light 216, but behold 2009, darkness 2822, For brightness 5054, but we walk 1980 in gloom 653.

 59:10 We grope 1659 along the wall 7023 like blind 5787 men 5787, We grope 1659 like those who have 369 no 369 eyes 5869; We stumble 3782 at midday 6672a as in the twilight 5399, Among those who 820 are vigorous 820 [we are] like dead 4191 men.

 59:11 All 3605 of us growl 1993 like bears 1677, And moan 1897 sadly 1897 like doves 3123; We hope 6960a for justice 4941, but there 369 is none 369, For salvation 3444, [but] it is far 7368 from us.

 59:12 For our transgressions 6588 are multiplied 7231 before 5048 You, And our sins 2403b testify 6030a against us; For our transgressions 6588 are with us, And we know 3045 our iniquities 5771:

 59:13 Transgressing 6586 and denying 3584 the LORD 3068, And turning 5472 away 5472 from our God 430, Speaking 1696 oppression 6233 and revolt 5627, Conceiving 2029 [in] and uttering 1897 from the heart 3820 lying 8267 words 1697.

 59:14 Justice 4941 is turned 5472 back 268, And righteousness 6666 stands 5975 far 7350 away 4480; For truth 571 has stumbled 3782 in the street 7339, And uprightness 5228 cannot 3201 3808 enter 935.

 59:15 Yes, truth 571 is lacking 5737c; And he who turns 5493 aside 5493 from evil 7451b makes 7997b himself a prey 7997b. Now the LORD 3068 saw 7200, And it was displeasing 7489a in His sight 5869 that there 369 was no 369 justice 4941.

 59:16 And He saw 7200 that there 369 was no 369 man 376, And was astonished 8074 that there 369 was no 369 one 369 to intercede 6293; Then His own arm 2220 brought 3467 salvation 3467 to Him, And His righteousness 6666 upheld 5564 Him.

 59:17 He put 3847 on righteousness 6666 like a breastplate 8302, And a helmet 3553 of salvation 3444 on His head 7218; And He put 3847 on garments 899b of vengeance 5359 for clothing 8516 And wrapped 5844a Himself with zeal 7068 as a mantle 4598.

 59:18 According 5921 to [their] deeds 1578, so 5921 He will repay 7999a, Wrath 2534 to His adversaries 6862c, recompense 1576 to His enemies 340; To the coastlands 339 He will make 7999a recompense 1576.

 59:19 So they will fear 3372a the name 8034 of the LORD 3068 from the west 4628 And His glory 3519b from the rising 4217 of the sun 8121, For He will come 935 like a rushing 6862a stream 5104 Which the wind 7307 of the LORD 3068 drives 5127.

 59:20 “A Redeemer 1350 will come 935 to Zion 6726, And to those who turn 7725 from transgression 6588 in Jacob 3290,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068.

 59:21 ¶ “As for Me, this 384 is My covenant 1285 with them,” says 559 the LORD 3068: “My Spirit 7307 which 834 is upon you, and My words 1697 which 834 I have put 7760 in your mouth 6310 shall not depart 4185 from your mouth 6310, nor 3808 from the mouth 6310 of your offspring 2233, nor 3808 from the mouth 6310 of your offspring’s 2233 offspring 2233,” says 559 the LORD 3068, “from now 6258 and forever 5704 5769.”
