 20:1 ¶ Now on the first [day] of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, while it was yet dark, unto the tomb, and seeth the stone taken away from the tomb.

 20:1 ¶ º Theº firstº [day] of theº weekº comethºº Maryº Magdaleneº early,º when it wasºº yetº dark,º untoº theº sepulchre,º andº seethºº theº stoneº taken awayºº fromº theº sepulchre.º

 20:2 She runneth therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.

 20:2 Thenº she runneth,ºº andº comethºº toº Simonº Peter,º andº toº theº otherº disciple,º whomº Jesusº loved,ºº andº saithºº unto them,º They have taken awayºº theº Lordº outº ofº theº sepulchre,º andº we knowºº notº whereº they have laidºº him.º

 20:3 Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb.

 20:3 Peterº thereforeº went forth,ºº andº that otherº disciple,º andº cameºº toº theº sepulchre.º

 20:4 And they ran both together: and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb;

 20:4 Soº they ranºº bothº together:º andº theº otherº discipleº did outrunººº Peter,º andº cameºº firstº toº theº sepulchre.º

 20:5 and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths lying; yet entered he not in.

 20:5 Andº he stooping down,ºº [and looking in], sawºº theº linen clothesº lying;ºº yetº went heºº notº in.ººº

 20:6 Simon Peter therefore also cometh, following him, and entered into the tomb; and he beholdeth the linen cloths lying,

 20:6 Thenº comethºº Simonº Peterº followingºº him,º andº wentºº intoº theº sepulchre,º andº seethºº theº linen clothesº lie,ºº

 20:7 and the napkin, that was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.

 20:7 Andº theº napkin,º thatº wasºº aboutº hisº head,º notº lyingºº withº theº linen clothes,º butº wrapped togetherºº inº aº placeº by itself.ºº

 20:8 Then entered in therefore the other disciple also, who came first to the tomb, and he saw, and believed.

 20:8 Thenºº went inºº alsoº thatº otherº disciple,º whichº cameºº firstº toº theº sepulchre,º andº he saw,ººº andº believed.ºº

 20:9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.

 20:9 Forº as yetºº they knewºº notºº theº scripture,º thatº heº mustºº rise againºº fromº the dead.º

 20:10 So the disciples went away again unto their own home.

 20:10 Thenº theº disciplesº went awayºº againº untoº their own home.º

 20:11 ¶ But Mary was standing without at the tomb weeping: so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb;

 20:11 ¶ Butº Maryº stoodºº withoutº atº theº sepulchreº weeping:ºº andº asº she wept,ºº she stooped down,ºº [and looked] intoº theº sepulchre,º

 20:12 and she beholdeth two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

 20:12 Andº seethºº twoº angelsº inº whiteº sitting,ºº the oneº atº theº head,º andº the otherº atº theº feet,º whereº theº bodyº of Jesusº had lain.ºº

 20:13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

 20:13 Andº theyº sayºº unto her,º Woman,º whyº weepestº thou?ºº She saithºº unto them,º Becauseº they have taken awayºº myº Lord,º andº I knowºº notº whereº they have laidºº him.º

 20:14 When she had thus said, she turned herself back, and beholdeth Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

 20:14 Andº when she hadºº thusº said,ºº she turnedºº herselfº back,ºº andº sawºº Jesusº standing,ºº andº knewºº notº thatº it wasºº Jesus.º

 20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

 20:15 Jesusº saithºº unto her,º Woman,º whyº weepestº thou?ºº whomº seekestº thou?ºº She,º supposingººº himº to beºº theº gardener,º saithºº unto him,º Sir,º ifº thouº have borneºº himº hence,ºº tellºº meº whereº thou hast laidºº him,º and Iº will takeºº himº away.ººº

 20:16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turneth herself, and saith unto him in Hebrew, Rabboni; which is to say, Teacher.

 20:16 Jesusº saithºº unto her,º Mary.º Sheº turnedºº herself, and saithºº unto him,º Rabboni;º whichº is to say,ººº Master.º

 20:17 Jesus saith to her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended unto the Father: but go unto my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.

 20:17 Jesusº saithºº unto her,º Touchºº meº not;º forº I amºº not yetº ascendedºº toº myº Father:º butº goºº toº myº brethren,º andº sayºº unto them,º I ascendºº untoº myº Father,º andº yourº Father;º andº [to] myº God,º andº yourº God.º

 20:18 Mary Magdalene cometh and telleth the disciples, I have seen the Lord; and [that] he had said these things unto her.

 20:18 Maryº Magdaleneº cameºº and toldºº theº disciplesº thatº she had seenºº theº Lord,º andº [that] he had spokenºº these thingsº unto her.º

 20:19 ¶ When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first [day] of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you.

 20:19 ¶ Thenº theº sameº dayº at evening,º beingºº theº firstº [day] of theº week,º whenº theº doorsº were shutºº whereº theº disciplesº wereºº assembledºº forº fearº of theº Jews,º cameºº Jesusº andº stoodºº inº theº midst,º andº saithºº unto them,º Peaceº [be] unto you.º

 20:20 And when he had said this, he showed unto them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord.

 20:20 Andº when he hadºº soº said,ºº he shewedºº unto themº [his] handsº andº hisºº side.º Thenº wereºº the disciplesº glad,ºººº when they sawºº theº Lord.º

 20:21 Jesus therefore said to them again, Peace [be] unto you: as the Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

 20:21 Thenº saidºº Jesusº to themº again,º Peaceº [be] unto you:º asº [my] Fatherº hath sentºº me,º even soºº sendºº Iºº you.º

 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit:

 20:22 Andº when he had saidºº this,º he breathed onºº [them], andº saithºº unto them,º Receiveº yeºº the Holyº Ghost:º

 20:23 whose soever sins ye forgive, they are forgiven unto them; whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained.

 20:23 Whoseº soeverºº sinsº ye remit,ºº they are remittedºº unto them;º [and] whoseº soeverºº [sins] ye retain,ºº they are retained.ºº

 20:24 ¶ But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

 20:24 ¶ Butº Thomas,º oneº ofº theº twelve,º calledºº Didymus,º wasººº notº withº themº whenº Jesusº came.ºº

 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.

 20:25 Theº otherº disciplesº thereforeº saidºº unto him,º We have seenºº theº Lord.º Butº heº saidºº unto them,º Exceptº I shall seeºº inº hisº handsº theº printº of theº nails,º andº putºº myº fingerº intoº theº printº of theº nails,º andº thrustºº myº handº intoº hisºº side,º I willºº notº believe.ººº

 20:26 ¶ And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace [be] unto you.

 20:26 ¶ Andº afterº eightº daysº againº hisº disciplesº wereºº within,º andº Thomasº withº them:º [then] cameºº Jesus,º theº doorsº being shut,ºº andº stoodºº inº theº midst,º andº said,ºº Peaceº [be] unto you.º

 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and see my hands; and reach [hither] thy hand, and put it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

 20:27 Thenº saithº heºº to Thomas,º Reachºº hitherº thyº finger,ºº andº beholdºº myº hands;º andº reachº hitherºº thyº hand,º andº thrustºº [it] intoº myº side:º andº beºº notº faithless,º butº believing.º

 20:28 Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

 20:28 Andº Thomasº answeredºº andº saidºº unto him,º Myº Lordº andº myº God.º

 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed.

 20:29 Jesusº saithºº unto him,º Thomas,º becauseº thou hast seenºº me,º thou hast believed:ºº blessedº [are] they that have notº seen,ººº andº [yet] have believed.ºº

 20:30 ¶ Many other signs therefore did Jesus in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book:

 20:30 ¶ Andº manyº otherº signsº trulyºº didºº Jesusº in the presenceº of hisºº disciples,º whichº areºº notº writtenºº inº thisº book:º

 20:31 but these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye may have life in his name.

 20:31 Butº theseº are written,ºº thatº ye might believeºº thatº Jesusº isºº theº Christ,º theº Sonº of God;º andº thatº believingºº ye might haveºº lifeº throughº hisºº name.º
