And it came to pass after this, that Avshalom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him. |

a controversy°

to°
the king°
for judgment,°

him, and said,°°

what°
city°
[art] thou?°
And he said,°°
Thy servant°
[is] of one°°
of the tribes°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.° |

And Avshalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was [so], that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Avshalom called unto him, and said, Of what city [art] thou? And he said, Thy servant [is] of one of the tribes of Yisrael. |

Avshalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice! |

And it was°
[so], that when any man°
came nigh°°
[to him] to do him obeisance,°°
he put forth°°°
his hand,°
and took°°
him, and kissed°°
him. |

And on this manner did Avshalom to all Yisrael that came to the king for judgment: so Avshalom stole the hearts of the men of Yisrael. |

15:7 ¶
And it came to pass°
after°°
forty°
years,°
that
´Avšälôm
אַבשָׁלוֹם°
said°°
unto°
the king,°
I pray thee,°
let me go°°°
and pay°°°
my vow,°
which°
I have vowed°°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
in
Çevrôn
חֶברוֹן.° |

15:7 ¶
And it came to pass after forty years, that Avshalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto Yahweh, in Chevron. |

thy servant°
vowed°°
a vow°
while I abode°°
at
Gæšûr
גְּשׁוּר°
in
´Áräm
אֲרָם,°
saying,°°
If°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
shall bring me again°°°°
indeed to
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
then I will serve°°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.° |

15:8
For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Aram, saying, If Yahweh shall bring me again indeed to Yerushalaim, then I will serve Yahweh. |

15:9
And the king°
said°°
unto him, Go°°°
in peace.°
So he arose,°°
and went°°°
to
Çevrôn
חֶברוֹן.° |

And the king said unto him, Go in peace. So he arose, and went to Chevron. |

15:10 ¶
But

אַבשָׁלוֹם°
sent°°
spies°°
throughout all°
the tribes°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
saying,°°
As soon as ye hear°°°
the sound°
of the trumpet,°
then ye shall say,°°
´Avšälôm
אַבשָׁלוֹם°
reigneth°°
in
Çevrôn
חֶברוֹן.° |

15:10 ¶
But Avshalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Yisrael, saying, As soon as ye hear the sound of the trumpet, then ye shall say, Avshalom reigneth in Chevron. |

went°°
two hundred°
men°
out of
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°°
[that were] called;°°
and they went°°
in their simplicity,°
and they knew°°
not°
any°
thing.° |

And with Avshalom went two hundred men out of Yerushalaim, [that were] called; and they went in their simplicity, and they knew not any thing. |

And

the

גִּילֹנִי,°

counsellor,°°
from his city,°

while he offered°°°
sacrifices.°
And the conspiracy°
was°
strong;°
for the people°
increased°
continually°°
with°
´Avšälôm
אַבשָׁלוֹם.° |

And Avshalom sent for Achithofel the Giloni, Dawid's counsellor, from his city, [even] from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Avshalom. |
|
15:13 ¶
And there came°°
a messenger°°
to°

saying,°°
The hearts°
of the men°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
are°
after°
´Avšälôm
אַבשָׁלוֹם.° |

15:13 ¶
And there came a messenger to Dawid, saying, The hearts of the men of Yisrael are after Avshalom. |

And

his servants°

[were] with°
him at
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
Arise,°°
and let us flee;°°°
for°
we shall°

[else] escape°

make speed°°
to depart,°°°
lest°
he overtake°°
us suddenly,°°
and bring°°°
evil°
upon°
us, and smite°°
the city°
with the edge°
of the sword.° |

And Dawid said unto all his servants that [were] with him at Yerushalaim, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not [else] escape from Avshalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword. |

And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Kerethim, and all the Pelethim, and all the Gittim, six hundred men which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king. |

´Ittay
אִתַּי°
the
Gittî
גִּתִּי,°
Wherefore°
goest°°°
thou°
also°
with°
us? return°°
to thy place,°
and abide°°
with°
the king:°
for°
thou°
[art] a stranger,°
and also°
an exile.°° |

Then said the king to Ittay the Gitti, Wherefore goest thou also with us? return to thy place, and abide with the king: for thou [art] a stranger, and also an exile. |

Whereas thou camest°°
[but] yesterday,°
should I this day°
make thee go°°
up°
and down°°°°
with°
us? seeing I°
go°°
whither°°
I°
may,°
return°°
thou, and take back°°°
thy brethren:°
mercy°
and truth°
[be] with°
thee. |

Whereas thou camest [but] yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go whither I may, return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth [be] with thee. |

liveth,°

liveth,°

And Ittay answered the king, and said, [As] Yahweh liveth, and [as] my adon the king liveth, surely in what place my adon the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be. |

And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Qidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness. |

[were] with°
him, bearing°°°
the ark°
of the covenant°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:°
and they set down°°°
the ark°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים;°
and
´Evyäŧär
אֶביָתָר°
went up,°°
until°
all°
the people°
had done°°
passing°°
out of°
the city.° |

15:24 ¶
And lo Tzadoq also, and all the Lewiyyim [were] with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of Elohim: and they set down the ark of Elohim; and Evyathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city. |
|
15:25
And the king°
said°°
unto

צָדוֹק,°
Carry back°°°
the ark°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
into the city:°
if°
I shall find°°
favour°
in the eyes°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
he will bring me again,°°
and shew°°
me [both] it, and his habitation:° |

And the king said unto Tzadoq, Carry back the ark of Elohim into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of Yahweh, he will bring me again, and shew me [both] it, and his habitation: |

But if°
he thus°
say,°°
I have no°
delight°°
in thee; behold,°
[here am] I, let him do°°
to me as°
seemeth°
good°
unto him. |
|
15:26
But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, [here am] I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him. |

The king said also unto Tzadoq the priest, [Art not] thou a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Achimaatz thy son, and Yehonathan the son of Evyathar. |

will tarry°°
in the plain°°°
of the wilderness,°
until°
there come°°
word°
from°°
you to certify°°
me. |

See, I will tarry in the plain of the wilderness, until there come word from you to certify me. |

Tzadoq therefore and Evyathar carried the ark of Elohim again to Yerushalaim: and they tarried there. |

15:30 ¶
And

by the ascent°
of [mount]

and wept°°
as he went up,°°
and had his head°
covered,°°
and he°
went°°
barefoot:°
and all°
the people°
that°
[was] with°
him covered°°
every man°
his head,°
and they went up,°°
weeping°°
as they went up.°° |

And Dawid went up by the ascent of [mount] Zethim, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that [was] with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up. |

And [one] told°°

[is] among the conspirators°°

יָהוֶה,°
I pray thee,°
turn°
the counsel°
of
´Áçîŧöfel
אֲחִיתֹפֶל°
into foolishness.°° |

15:31 ¶
And [one] told Dawid, saying, Achithofel [is] among the conspirators with Avshalom. And Dawid said, O Yahweh, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Achithofel into foolishness. |
|
15:32 ¶
And it came to pass,°
that [when]

the top°
[of the mount], where°
he worshipped°°

אֱלֹהִים,°
behold,°
Çûšay
חוּשַׁי°
the
´Arcî
אַרכִּי°
came to meet°°

upon°
his head:° |

And it came to pass, that [when] Dawid was come to the top [of the mount], where he worshipped Elohim, behold, Chushay the Arki came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head: |

Unto whom

If°
thou passest on°°
with°
me, then thou shalt be°
a burden°
unto°
me: |

Unto whom Dawid said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me: |

thou return°°
to the city,°

אַבשָׁלוֹם,°
I°
will be°
thy servant,°
O king;°
[as] I°
[have been] thy father's°
servant°
hitherto,°°
so [will] I°

also [be] thy servant:°

And [hast thou] not there with thee Tzadoq and Evyathar the priests? therefore it shall be, [that] what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the king's house, thou shalt tell [it] to Tzadoq and Evyathar the priests. |

Behold, [they have] there with them their two sons, Achimaatz Tzadoq's [son], and Yehonathan Evyathar's [son]; and by them ye shall send unto me every thing that ye can hear. |

So Chushay Dawid's friend came into the city, and Avshalom came into Yerushalaim. |
