 7:1 ¶ And it came to pass,º whenº the kingº satºº in his house,º and Yähwè יָהוֶהº had given him restºº round aboutºº from allºº his enemies;ºº

 7:1 ¶ And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and Yahweh had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

 7:2 That the kingº saidºº untoº Nä±än נָתָןº the prophet,º Seeºº now,º Iº dwellºº in an houseº of cedar,º but the arkº of ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº dwellethºº withinº curtains.º

 7:2 That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of Elohim dwelleth within curtains.

 7:3 And Nä±än נָתָןº saidºº toº the king,º Go,ººº doºº allº thatº [is] in thine heart;º forº Yähwè יָהוֶהº [is] withº thee.

 7:3 And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that [is] in thine heart; for Yahweh [is] with thee.

 7:4 ¶ And it came to passº thatº night,º that the wordº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº cameº untoº Nä±än נָתָן,º saying,ºº

 7:4 ¶ And it came to pass that night, that the word of Yahweh came unto Nathan, saying,

 7:5 Goººº and tellººº my servantº Däwið דָּוִד,º Thusº saithºº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º Shalt thouº buildºº me an houseº for me to dwellº in?ºº

 7:5 Go and tell my servant Dawid, Thus saith Yahweh, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

 7:6 Whereasº I have notº dweltºº in [any] houseº since the timeºº that I brought upººº the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº out of Mixrayim מִצרַיִם,ºº even toº thisº day,º but haveº walkedºº in a tentº and in a tabernacle.º

 7:6 Whereas I have not dwelt in [any] house since the time that I brought up the children of Yisrael out of Mitzrayim, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

 7:7 In allº [the places] whereinº I have walkedºº with allº the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº spakeºº I a wordº withº anyº of the tribesº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º whomº I commandedºº to feedººº my peopleºº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º saying,ºº Whyº buildºº ye notº me an houseº of cedar?º

 7:7 In all [the places] wherein I have walked with all the children of Yisrael spake I a word with any of the tribes of Yisrael, whom I commanded to feed my people Yisrael, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

 7:8 Nowº thereforeº so shalt thou sayºº unto my servantº Däwið דָּוִד,º Thusº saithºº Yähwè יָהוֶהº Xævä´ô± צְבָאוֹת,º Iº tookºº thee fromº the sheepcote,º from followingºº the sheep,º to beº rulerº overº my people,º overº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל:º

 7:8 Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant Dawid, Thus saith Yahweh Tzevaoth, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Yisrael:

 7:9 And I wasº withº thee whithersoeverºº thou wentest,ºº and have cut offººº allº thine enemiesºº out of thy sight,ºº and have madeºº thee a greatº name,º like unto the nameº of the greatº [men] thatº [are] in the earth.º

 7:9 And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great [men] that [are] in the earth.

 7:10 Moreover I will appointºº a placeº for my peopleº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º and will plantºº them, that they may dwellºº in a placeº of their own, and moveºº noº more;º neitherº shall the childrenº of wickednessº afflictºº them any more,ºº asº beforetime,º

 7:10 Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Yisrael, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,

 7:11 And as sinceº the timeº thatº I commandedºº judgesºº [to be] overº my peopleº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º and have caused thee to restºº from allºº thine enemies.ºº Also Yähwè יָהוֶהº tellethºº thee thatº he will makeºº thee an house.º

 7:11 And as since the time that I commanded judges [to be] over my people Yisrael, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also Yahweh telleth thee that he will make thee an house.

 7:12 ¶ And whenº thy daysº be fulfilled,ºº and thou shalt sleepºº withº thy fathers,º I will set upººº thy seedº afterº thee, whichº shall proceedºº out of thy bowels,ºº and I will establishººº his kingdom.º

 7:12 ¶ And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

 7:13 Heº shall buildºº an houseº for my name,º and I will stablishººº the throneº of his kingdomº forº ever.ºº

 7:13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

 7:14 Iº will beº his father,º and heº shall beº my son.º Ifº he commit iniquity,ºº I will chastenºº him with the rodº of men,ºº and with the stripesº of the childrenº of men:º

 7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

 7:15 But my mercyº shall notº depart awayºº fromº him, asº I tookºº [it] fromºº Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל,º whomº I put awayºº beforeºº thee.

 7:15 But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took [it] from Shaul, whom I put away before thee.

 7:16 And thine houseº and thy kingdomº shall be establishedºº forºº everºº beforeº thee: thy throneº shall beº establishedºº forº ever.ºº

 7:16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

 7:17 According to allº theseº words,º and according to allº thisº vision,º soº did Nä±än נָתָןº speakºº untoº Däwið דָּוִד.º

 7:17 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto Dawid.

 7:18 ¶ Then wentºº kingº Däwið דָּוִדº in, and satºº beforeº Yähwè יָהוֶה,ºº and he said,ºº Whoº [am] I,º O ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה?º and whatº [is] my house,º thatº thou hast broughtºº me hitherto?ºº

 7:18 ¶ Then went king Dawid in, and sat before Yahweh, and he said, Who [am] I, O Adonay Yahweh? and what [is] my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

 7:19 And thisº was yetº a smallº thingºº in thy sight,º O ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה;º but thou hast spokenºº alsoº ofº thy servant'sº houseº for a great while to come.ºº And [is] thisº the mannerº of man,º O ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה?º

 7:19 And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Adonay Yahweh; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And [is] this the manner of man, O Adonay Yahweh?

 7:20 And whatº canºº Däwið דָּוִדº sayººº moreººº untoº thee? for thou,º ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º knowestººº thy servant.º

 7:20 And what can Dawid say more unto thee? for thou, Adonay Yahweh, knowest thy servant.

 7:21 For thy word'sº sake,ºº and according to thine own heart,º hast thou doneººº allº theseº great things,º to makeº thy servantº knowºº [them].

 7:21 For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know [them].

 7:22 Whereforeºº thou art great,ºº O Yähwè יָהוֶהº ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים:ºº forº [there is] noneº like thee,º neitherº [is there any] ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº besideº thee, according to allº thatº we have heardºº with our ears.º

 7:22 Wherefore thou art great, O Yahweh Elohim: for [there is] none like thee, neither [is there any] Elohim beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

 7:23 And whatº oneº nationº in the earthº [is] like thy people,º [even] like Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º whomº ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº wentºº to redeemºº for a peopleº to himself, and to makeºº him a name,º and to doºº for you greatº thingsº and terrible,ºº for thy land,º beforeºº thy people,º whichº thou redeemedstºº to thee from Mixrayim מִצרַיִם,ºº [from] the nationsº and their ´élöhîm אֱלֹהִים?º

 7:23 And what one nation in the earth [is] like thy people, [even] like Yisrael, whom Elohim went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Mitzrayim, [from] the nations and their elohim?

 7:24 For thou hast confirmedºº to thyselfº thy peopleº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº [to be] a peopleº unto thee forº ever:ºº and thou,º Yähwè יָהוֶה,º art becomeºº their ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים.º

 7:24 For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Yisrael [to be] a people unto thee for ever: and thou, Yahweh, art become their Elohim.

 7:25 And now,º O Yähwè יָהוֶהº ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,º the wordº thatº thou hast spokenºº concerningº thy servant,º and concerningº his house,º establishºº [it] forº ever,ºº and doºº asº thou hast said.ºº

 7:25 And now, O Yahweh Elohim, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish [it] for ever, and do as thou hast said.

 7:26 And let thy nameº be magnifiedºº forº ever,ºº saying,ºº Yähwè יָהוֶהº Xævä´ô± צְבָאוֹתº [is] the ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº overº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל:º and let the houseº of thy servantº Däwið דָּוִדº beº establishedºº beforeº thee.

 7:26 And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, Yahweh Tzevaoth [is] the Elohim over Yisrael: and let the house of thy servant Dawid be established before thee.

 7:27 Forº thou,º O Yähwè יָהוֶהº Xævä´ô± צְבָאוֹת,º ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º hast revealedººº to thy servant,º saying,ºº I will buildºº thee an house:º thereforeºº hath thy servantº foundºº inº his heartº to prayººº thisº prayerº untoº thee.

 7:27 For thou, O Yahweh Tzevaoth, Elohim of Yisrael, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

 7:28 And now,º O ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º thouº [art] thatº ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,º and thy wordsº beº true,º and thou hast promisedººº thisº goodnessº untoº thy servant:º

 7:28 And now, O Adonay Yahweh, thou [art] that Elohim, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

 7:29 Therefore nowº let it pleaseººº thee to blessººº the houseº of thy servant,º that it may continueº for everº beforeº thee: forº thou,º O ´Áðönäy אֲדֹנָיº Yähwè יָהוֶה,º hast spokenºº [it]: and with thy blessingºº let the houseº of thy servantº be blessedºº for ever.º

 7:29 Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Adonay Yahweh, hast spoken [it]: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
