 4:1 ¶ And when Šä´ûl's שָׁאוּל° son° heard°° that° ´Avnër אַבנֵר° was dead°° in Çevrôn חֶברוֹן,° his hands° were feeble,°° and all° the Yiŝræ´ëlîm יִשׂרְאֵלִים° were troubled.°°

 4:1 ¶ And when Shaul's son heard that Avner was dead in Chevron, his hands were feeble, and all the Yisreelim were troubled.

 4:2 And Šä´ûl's שָׁאוּל° son° had°° two° men°° [that were] captains° of bands:° the name° of the one° [was] Ba`ánà בַּעֲנָה,° and the name° of the other° Rëȼäv רֵכָב,° the sons° of Rimmôn רִמּוֹן° a Bæ´ëröŧî בְּאֵרֹתִי,° of the children°° of Binyämîn בִּניָמִין:° (for° Bæ´ëröŧ בְּאֵרֹת° also° was reckoned°° to° Binyämîn בִּניָמִין:°

 4:2 And Shaul's son had two men [that were] captains of bands: the name of the one [was] Baanah, and the name of the other Rekhav, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothi, of the children of Binyamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Binyamin:

 4:3 And the Bæ´ëröŧîm בְּאֵרֹתִים° fled°° to Gittäyim גִּתָּיִם,° and were° sojourners°° there° until° this° day.)°

 4:3 And the Beerothim fled to Gittayim, and were sojourners there until this day.)

 4:4 And Yæhônäŧän יְהוֹנָתָן,° Šä´ûl's שָׁאוּל° son,° had a son° [that was] lame° of [his] feet.° He was° five° years° old° when the tidings° came°° of Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל° and Yæhônäŧän יְהוֹנָתָן° out of Yizræ`e´l יִזרְעֶאל,°° and his nurse°° took him up,°° and fled:°° and it came to pass,° as she made haste°° to flee,°° that he fell,°° and became lame.°° And his name° [was] Mæfîvöšeŧ מְפִיבֹשֶׁת.°

 4:4 And Yehonathan, Shaul's son, had a son [that was] lame of [his] feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Shaul and Yehonathan out of Yizreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name [was] Mefivosheth.

 4:5 And the sons° of Rimmôn רִמּוֹן° the Bæ´ëröŧî בְּאֵרֹתִי,° Rëȼäv רֵכָב° and Ba`ánà בַּעֲנָה,°° went,°°° and came°° about the heat° of the day° to° the house° of ´Îš Böšeŧ אִישׁ־בֹּשֶׁת,° who° lay°° on° a bed° at noon.°

 4:5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothi, Rekhav and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ish-Bosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.

 4:6 And they came° thither°°° into° the midst° of the house,° [as though] they would have fetched°° wheat;° and they smote°° him under° the fifth° [rib]: and Rëȼäv רֵכָב° and Ba`ánà בַּעֲנָה° his brother° escaped.°°

 4:6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, [as though] they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth [rib]: and Rekhav and Baanah his brother escaped.

 4:7 For when they came°° into the house,° he° lay°° on° his bed° in his bedchamber,°° and they smote°° him, and slew°° him, and beheaded°°°° him, and took°°° his head,° and gat them away°°° through° the plain° all° night.°

 4:7 For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.

 4:8 And they brought°°° the head° of ´Îš Böšeŧ אִישׁ־בֹּשֶׁת° unto° Däwiđ דָּוִד° to Çevrôn חֶברוֹן,° and said°° to° the king,° Behold° the head° of ´Îš Böšeŧ אִישׁ־בֹּשֶׁת° the son° of Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל° thine enemy,°° which° sought°°° thy life;° and Yähwè יָהוֶה° hath°° avenged°° my ´áđôn אֲדוֹן° the king° this° day° of Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל,°° and of his seed.°°

 4:8 And they brought the head of Ish-Bosheth unto Dawid to Chevron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ish-Bosheth the son of Shaul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and Yahweh hath avenged my adon the king this day of Shaul, and of his seed.

 4:9 ¶ And Däwiđ דָּוִד° answered°°° Rëȼäv רֵכָב° and Ba`ánà בַּעֲנָה° his brother,° the sons° of Rimmôn רִמּוֹן° the Bæ´ëröŧî בְּאֵרֹתִי,° and said°° unto them, [As] Yähwè יָהוֶה° liveth,° who° hath redeemed°°° my soul° out of all°° adversity,°

 4:9 ¶ And Dawid answered Rekhav and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothi, and said unto them, [As] Yahweh liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

 4:10 When° one told°° me, saying,°° Behold,° Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל° is dead,°° thinking° to have° brought° good tidings,°° I took hold°° of him, and slew°° him in Xîklaq צִיקלַג,° who° [thought] that I would have given°° him a reward for his tidings:°

 4:10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Shaul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Tziqlag, who [thought] that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:

 4:11 How much more,° when° wicked° men°° have slain°°° a righteous° person° in his own house° upon° his bed?° shall I not° therefore now° require°°° his blood° of your hand,°° and take you away°°° from° the earth?°

 4:11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

 4:12 And Däwiđ דָּוִד° commanded°°° his young men,° and they slew°° them, and cut off°°° their hands° and their feet,° and hanged [them] up°° over° the pool° in Çevrôn חֶברוֹן.° But they took°° the head° of ´Îš Böšeŧ אִישׁ־בֹּשֶׁת,° and buried°° [it] in the sepulchre° of ´Avnër אַבנֵר° in Çevrôn חֶברוֹן.°

 4:12 And Dawid commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged [them] up over the pool in Chevron. But they took the head of Ish-Bosheth, and buried [it] in the sepulchre of Avner in Chevron.
