Jeremiah 10
1 The unequal comparison of God and idols. 17 The prophet exhorteth to flee from the calamity to come. 19 He lamenteth the spoil of the Tabernacle by foolish pastors. 23 He maketh an humble supplication.
10:1
Hear 8085 the word 1697 which 834 the LORD 3068 speaks 1696 to you, O house 1004 of Israel 3478.
10:2
Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Do not learn 3925 the way 1870 of the nations 1471, And do not be terrified 2865 by the signs 226 of the heavens 8064 Although 3588 the nations 1471 are terrified 2865 by them;
10:3
For the customs 2708 of the peoples 5971a are delusion 1892; Because 3588 it is wood 6086 cut 3772 from the forest 3293a, The work 4639 of the hands 3027 of a craftsman 2796 with a cutting 4621 tool 4621.
10:4
“They decorate 3302 [it] with silver 3701 and with gold 2091; They fasten 2388 it with nails 4548 and with hammers 4717 So that it will not totter 6328.
10:5
“Like a scarecrow 8560 in a cucumber 4750 field 4750 are they, And they cannot 3808 speak 1696; They must 5375 be carried 5375, Because 3588 they cannot 3808 walk 6805! Do not fear 3372a them, For they can do 7489a no 3808 harm 7489a, Nor 1571 369 can they do 3190 any 1571 good 3190.”

¶ There 369 is none 369 like 3644 You, O LORD 3068; You are great 1419, and great 1419 is Your name 8034 in might 1369.
10:7
Who 4310 would not fear 3372a You, O King 4428 of the nations 1471? Indeed 3588 it is Your due 2969! For among all 3605 the wise 2450 men 2450 of the nations 1471 And in all 3605 their kingdoms 4438, There 369 is none 369 like 3644 You.
10:8
But they are altogether 259 stupid 1197b and foolish 3688 [In their] discipline 4148 of delusion 1892—their idol is wood 6086!
10:9
Beaten 7554 silver 3701 is brought 935 from Tarshish 8659, And gold 2091 from Uphaz 210, The work 4639 of a craftsman 2796 and of the hands 3027 of a goldsmith 6884; Violet 8504 and purple 713 are their clothing 3830; They are all 3605 the work 4639 of skilled 2450 men 2450.
10:10
But the LORD 3068 is the true 571 God 430; He is the living 2416a God 430 and the everlasting 5769 King 4428. At His wrath 7110a the earth 776 quakes 7493, And the nations 1471 cannot 3808 endure 3557 His indignation 2195.
10:11
¶ Thus 1836 you shall say 560 to them, “The gods 426 that did not make 5648 the heavens 8065 and the earth 778 will perish 7 from the earth 778 and from under 8460 the heavens 8065.”
10:12
¶ [It is] He who made 6213a the earth 776 by His power 3581b, Who established 3559 the world 8398 by His wisdom 2451; And by His understanding 8394 He has stretched 5186 out the heavens 8064.
10:13
When He utters 5414 His voice 6963, [there is] a tumult 1995 of waters 4325 in the heavens 8064, And He causes the clouds 5387b to ascend 5927 from the end 7097a of the earth 776; He makes 6213a lightning 1300 for the rain 4306, And brings 3318 out the wind 7307 from His storehouses 214.
10:14
Every 3605 man 120 is stupid 1197b, devoid 4480 of knowledge 1847; Every 3605 goldsmith 6884 is put 954 to shame 954 by his idols 6459; For his molten 5262b images 5262b are deceitful 8267, And there is no 3808 breath 7307 in them.
10:15
They are worthless 1892, a work 4639 of mockery 8595; In the time 6256 of their punishment 6486 they will perish 6.
10:16
The portion 2506 of Jacob 3290 is not like these 428; For the Maker 3335 of all 3605 is He, And Israel 3478 is the tribe 7626 of His inheritance 5159; The LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 is His name 8034.
10:17
¶ Pick 622 up your bundle 3666 from the ground 776, You who dwell 3427 under siege 4692!
10:18
For thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Behold 2009, I am slinging 7049a out the inhabitants 3427 of the land 776 At this 384 time 6471, And will cause 6887a them distress 6887a, That they may be found 4672.”
10:19
¶ Woe 188 is me, because 5921 of my injury 7667! My wound 4347 is incurable 2470a. But I said 559, “Truly 389 this 2088 is a sickness 2483, And I must bear 5375 it.”
10:20
My tent 168 is destroyed 7703, And all 3605 my ropes 4340 are broken 5423; My sons 1121 have gone 3318 from me and are no 369 more 369. There 369 is no 369 one 369 to stretch 5186 out my tent 168 again 5750 Or to set 6965 up my curtains 3407.
10:21
For the shepherds 7462a have become 1197b stupid 1197b And have not sought 1875 the LORD 3068; Therefore 5921 3651 they have not prospered 7919a, And all 3605 their flock 4830 is scattered 6327a.
10:22
The sound 6963 of a report 8052! Behold 2009, it comes 935— A great 1419 commotion 7494 out of the land 776 of the north 6828— To make 7760 the cities 5892b of Judah 3063 A desolation 8077, a haunt 4583 of jackals 8565.
10:23
¶ I know 3045, O LORD 3068, that a man’s 120 way 1870 is not in himself 376, Nor 3808 is it in a man 376 who walks 1980 to direct 3559 his steps 6806.
10:24
Correct 3256 me, O LORD 3068, but with justice 4941; Not with Your anger 639, or 6435 You will bring 4591 me to nothing 4591.
10:25
Pour 8210 out Your wrath 2534 on the nations 1471 that do not know 3045 You And on the families 4940 that do not call 7121 Your name 8034; For they have devoured 398 Jacob 3290; They have devoured 398 him and consumed 3615 him And have laid 8074 waste 8074 his habitation 5116a.
