Jeremiah 17

1 The captivity of Judah for her sin. 5 Trust in man is cursed, 7 in God is blessed. 9 The deceitful heart cannot deceive God. 12 The salvation of God. 15 The prophet complaineth of the mockers of his prophecy. 19 He is sent to renew the Covenant in hallowing the Sabbath.

 17:1 The sin 2403b of Judah 3063 is written 3789 down 3789 with an iron 1270 stylus 5842; With a diamond 8068 point 6856 it is engraved 2790a upon the tablet 3871 of their heart 3820 And on the horns 7161 of their altars 4196,

 17:2 As they remember 2142 their children 1121, So they [remember] their altars 4196 and their Asherim 842 By green 7488 trees 6086 on the high 1364 hills 1389.

 17:3 O mountain 2022 of Mine in the countryside 7704, I will give 5414 over your wealth 2428 and all 3605 your treasures 214 for booty 957, Your high 1116 places 1116 for sin 2403b throughout 3605 your borders 1366.

 17:4 And you will, even of yourself, let 8058 go 8058 of your inheritance 5159 That I gave 5414 you; And I will make you serve 5647 your enemies 340 In the land 776 which 834 you do not know 3045; For you have kindled 6919 a fire 784 in My anger 639 Which will burn 3344 forever 5704 5769.

 17:5 ¶ Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Cursed 779 is the man 1397 who 834 trusts 982 in mankind 120 And makes 7760 flesh 1320 his strength 2220, And whose heart 3820 turns 5493 away 5493 from the LORD 3068.

 17:6 “For he will be like a bush 6176 in the desert 6160 And will not see 7200 when 3588 prosperity 2896b comes 935, But will live 7931 in stony 2788 wastes 2788 in the wilderness 4057b, A land 776 of salt 4420 without 3808 inhabitant 3427.

 17:7 “Blessed 1288 is the man 1397 who 834 trusts 982 in the LORD 3068 And whose trust 4009 is the LORD 3068.

 17:8 “For he will be like a tree 6086 planted 8362 by the water 4325, That extends 7971 its roots 8328 by a stream 3105 And will not fear 3372a when 3588 the heat 2527 comes 935; But its leaves 5929 will be green 7488, And it will not be anxious 1672 in a year 8141 of drought 1226 Nor 3808 cease 4185 to yield 6213a fruit 6529.

 17:9 ¶ “The heart 3820 is more 4480 deceitful 6121a than 4480 all 3605 else And is desperately 605 sick 605; Who 4310 can understand 3045 it?

 17:10 “I, the LORD 3068, search 2713 the heart 3820, I test 974 the mind 3629, Even to give 5414 to each 376 man 376 according to his ways 1870, According to the results 6529 of his deeds 4611.

 17:11 “As a partridge 7124 that hatches 1716 eggs 1716 which it has not laid 3205, [So] is he who makes 6213a a fortune 6239, but unjustly 4941 3808; In the midst 2677 of his days 3117 it will forsake 5800a him, And in the end 319 he will be a fool 5036.”

 17:12 ¶ A glorious 3519b throne 3678 on high 4791 from the beginning 7223 Is the place 4725 of our sanctuary 4720.

 17:13 O LORD 3068, the hope 4723a of Israel 3478, All 3605 who forsake 5800a You will be put 954 to shame 954. Those who turn 5493 away 5493 on earth 776 will be written 3789 down 3789, Because 3588 they have forsaken 5800a the fountain 4726 of living 2416a water 4325, even the LORD 3068.

 17:14 Heal 7495 me, O LORD 3068, and I will be healed 7495; Save 3467 me and I will be saved 3467, For You are my praise 8416.

 17:15 Look 2009, they keep saying 559 to me, “Where 346 is the word 1697 of the LORD 3068? Let it come 935 now 4994!”

 17:16 But as for me, I have not hurried 213 away from [being] a shepherd 7462a after 310 You, Nor 3808 have I longed 183 for the woeful 605 day 3117; You Yourself 859 know 3045 that the utterance 4161 of my lips 8193 Was in Your presence 6440.

 17:17 Do not be a terror 4288 to me; You are my refuge 4268 in the day 3117 of disaster 7463a.

 17:18 Let those who persecute 7291 me be put 954 to shame 954, but as for me, let me not be put 954 to shame 954; Let them be dismayed 2865, but let me not be dismayed 2865. Bring 935 on them a day 3117 of disaster 7463a, And crush 7665 them with twofold 4932 destruction 7670!

 17:19 ¶ Thus 3541 the LORD 3068 said 559 to me, “Go 1980 and stand 5975 in the public 1121 5971a gate 8179, through which 834 the kings 4428 of Judah 3063 come 935 in and go 3318 out, as well as in all 3605 the gates 8179 of Jerusalem 3389;

 17:20 and say 559 to them, ‘Listen 8085 to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068, kings 4428 of Judah 3063, and all 3605 Judah 3063 and all 3605 inhabitants 3427 of Jerusalem 3389 who come 935 in through these 428 gates 8179:

 17:21 ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Take 8104 heed 8104 for yourselves 5315, and do not carry 5375 any load 4853a on the sabbath 7676 day 3117 or bring 935 anything in through the gates 8179 of Jerusalem 3389.

 17:22 “You shall not bring 3318 a load 4853a out of your houses 1004 on the sabbath 7676 day 3117 nor 3808 do 6213a any 3605 work 4399, but keep 6942 the sabbath 7676 day 3117 holy 6942, as I commanded 6680 your forefathers 1.

 17:23 “Yet they did not listen 8085 or incline 5186 their ears 241, but stiffened 7185 their necks 6203 in order not to listen 8085 or take 3947 correction 4148.

 17:24 ¶ “But it will come 1961 about, if 518 you listen 8085 attentively 8085 to Me,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068, “to bring 935 no 1115 load 4853a in through the gates 8179 of this 384 city 5892b on the sabbath 7676 day 3117, but to keep 6942 the sabbath 7676 day 3117 holy 6942 by doing 6213a no 1115 3605 work 4399 on it,

 17:25 then there will come 935 in through the gates 8179 of this 384 city 5892b kings 4428 and princes 8269 sitting 3427 on the throne 3678 of David 1732, riding 7392 in chariots 7393 and on horses 5483b, they and their princes 8269, the men 376 of Judah 3063 and the inhabitants 3427 of Jerusalem 3389, and this 384 city 5892b will be inhabited 3427 forever 5769.

 17:26 “They will come 935 in from the cities 5892b of Judah 3063 and from the environs 5439 of Jerusalem 3389, from the land 776 of Benjamin 1144, from the lowland 8219, from the hill 2022 country 2022 and from the Negev 5045, bringing 935 burnt 5930a offerings 5930a, sacrifices 2077, grain offerings 4503 and incense 3828, and bringing 935 sacrifices 8426 of thanksgiving 8426 to the house 1004 of the LORD 3068.

 17:27 “But if 518 you do not listen 8085 to Me to keep 6942 the sabbath 7676 day 3117 holy 6942 by not carrying 5375 a load 4853a and coming 935 in through the gates 8179 of Jerusalem 3389 on the sabbath 7676 day 3117, then I will kindle 3341 a fire 784 in its gates 8179 and it will devour 398 the palaces 759 of Jerusalem 3389 and not be quenched 3518.”’”
