Jeremiah 6

1 The enemies, sent against Judah, 4 encourage themselves. 6 God setteth them on work because of their sins. 9 The prophet lamenteth the judgments of God because of their sins. 18 He proclaimeth God's wrath. 26 He calleth the people to mourn for the judgment on their sins.

 6:1 “Flee 5756 for safety 5756, O sons 1121 of Benjamin 1144, From the midst 7130 of Jerusalem 3389! Now blow 8628 a trumpet 7782 in Tekoa 8620 And raise 5375 a signal 4864 over 5921 Beth-haccerem 1021; For evil 7463a looks 8259 down 8259 from the north 6828, And a great 1419 destruction 7667.

 6:2 “The comely 5000 and dainty 6026 one, the daughter 1323 of Zion 6726, I will cut 1820 off 1820.

 6:3 “Shepherds 7462a and their flocks 5739 will come 935 to her, They will pitch 8628 [their] tents 168 around 5439 her, They will pasture 7462a each 376 in his place 3027.

 6:4 “Prepare 6942 war 4421 against 5921 her; Arise 6965, and let us attack 5927 at noon 6672a. Woe 188 to us, for the day 3117 declines 6437, For the shadows 6738 of the evening 6153 lengthen 5186!

 6:5 “Arise 6965, and let us attack 5927 by night 3915 And destroy 7843 her palaces 759!”

 6:6 For thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, “Cut 3772 down 3772 her trees 6097 And cast 8210 up a siege 8210 against 5921 Jerusalem 3389. This 1931 is the city 5892b to be punished 6485, In whose midst 7130 there is only 3605 oppression 6233.

 6:7 “As a well 953a keeps 7174b its waters 4325 fresh 7174b, So 3651 she keeps 7174b fresh 7174b her wickedness 7463a. Violence 2555 and destruction 7701 are heard 8085 in her; Sickness 2483 and wounds 4347 are ever 8548 before 5921 6440 Me.

 6:8 “Be warned 3256, O Jerusalem 3389, Or 6435 I shall be alienated 3363 from you, And make 7760 you a desolation 8077, A land 776 not inhabited 3427.”

 6:9 ¶ Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, “They will thoroughly 5953b glean 5953b as the vine 1612 the remnant 7611 of Israel 3478; Pass 7725 your hand 3027 again 7725 like a grape gatherer 1219 Over 5921 the branches 5552.”

 6:10 To whom 4310 shall I speak 1696 and give 5749b warning 5749b That they may hear 8085? Behold 2009, their ears 241 are closed 6189 And they cannot 3201 3808 listen 7181. Behold 2009, the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 has become 1961 a reproach 2781 to them; They have 2654a no 3808 delight 2654a in it.

 6:11 But I am full 4390 of the wrath 2534 of the LORD 3068; I am weary 3811 with holding 3557 [it] in. “Pour 8210 [it] out on the children 5768 in the street 2351 And on the gathering 5475 of young 970 men 970 together 3164a; For both 1571 husband 376 and wife 802 shall be taken 3920, The aged 2205 and the very 4392 3117 old 4392 3117.

 6:12 “Their houses 1004 shall be turned 5437 over 5437 to others 312, Their fields 7704 and their wives 802 together 3164a; For I will stretch 5186 out My hand 3027 Against 5921 the inhabitants 3427 of the land 776,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068.

 6:13 “For from the least 6996a of them even to the greatest 1419 of them, Everyone 3605 is greedy 1214 for gain 1215, And from the prophet 5030 even to the priest 3548 Everyone 3605 deals 6213a falsely 8267.

 6:14 “They have healed 7495 the brokenness 7667 of My people 5971a superficially 7043, Saying 559, ‘Peace 7965, peace 7965,’ But there 369 is no 369 peace 7965.

 6:15 “Were they ashamed 954 because 3588 of the abomination 8441 they have done 6213a? They were not even 1571 ashamed 954 at all 954; They did not even 1571 know 3045 how to blush 3637. Therefore 3651 they shall fall 5307 among those who fall 5307; At the time 6256 that I punish 6485 them, They shall be cast 3782 down 3782,” says 559 the LORD 3068.

 6:16 ¶ Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Stand 5975 by the ways 1870 and see 7200 and ask 7592 for the ancient 5769 paths 5410b, Where 335 the good 2896a way 1870 is, and walk 1980 in it; And you will find 4672 rest 4771 for your souls 5315. But they said 559, ‘We will not walk 1980 [in it].’

 6:17 “And I set 6965 watchmen 6822 over 5921 you, [saying], ‘Listen 7181 to the sound 6963 of the trumpet 7782!’ But they said 559, ‘We will not listen 7181.’

 6:18 “Therefore 3651 hear 8085, O nations 1471, And know 3045, O congregation 5712, what 834 is among them.

 6:19 “Hear 8085, O earth 776: behold 2009, I am bringing 935 disaster 7463a on this 2088 people 5971a, The fruit 6529 of their plans 4284, Because 3588 5921 they have not listened 7181 to My words 1697, And as for My law 8451, they have rejected 3988a it also.

 6:20 “For what 4100 purpose 2088 does frankincense 3828 come 935 to Me from Sheba 7614 And the sweet 2896a cane 7070 from a distant 4801 land 776? Your burnt 5930a offerings 5930a are not acceptable 7522 And your sacrifices 2077 are not pleasing 6149 to Me.”

 6:21 Therefore 3651, thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Behold 2009, I am laying 5414 stumbling 4383 blocks 4383 before 413 this 2088 people 5971a. And they will stumble 3782 against them, Fathers 1 and sons 1121 together 3164a; Neighbor 7934 and friend 7453 will perish 6.”

 6:22 ¶ Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Behold 2009, a people 5971a is coming 935 from the north 6828 land 776, And a great 1419 nation 1471 will be aroused 5782 from the remote 3411 parts 3411 of the earth 776.

 6:23 “They seize 2388 bow 7198 and spear 3591; They are cruel 394 and have 7355 no 3808 mercy 7355; Their voice 6963 roars 1993 like the sea 3220, And they ride 7392 on horses 5483b, Arrayed 6186a as a man 376 for the battle 4421 Against 5921 you, O daughter 1323 of Zion 6726!”

 6:24 We have heard 8085 the report 8089 of it; Our hands 3027 are limp 7503. Anguish 6869a has seized 2388 us, Pain 2427 as of a woman in childbirth 3205.

 6:25 Do not go 3318 out into the field 7704 And do not walk 1980 on the road 1870, For the enemy 340 has a sword 2719, Terror 4032 is on every 5439 side 5439.

 6:26 O daughter 1323 of my people 5971a, put 2296 on sackcloth 8242 And roll 6428 in ashes 665; Mourn 60 as for an only 3173 son 3173, A lamentation 4553 most 8563 bitter 8563. For suddenly 6597 the destroyer 7703 Will come 935 upon us.

 6:27 ¶ “I have made 5414 you an assayer 969b [and] a tester 4013 among My people 5971a, That you may know 3045 and assay 974 their way 1870.”

 6:28 All 3605 of them are stubbornly 5637 rebellious 5637, Going 1980 about as a talebearer 7400. [They are] bronze 5178 and iron 1270; They, all 3605 of them, are corrupt 7843.

 6:29 The bellows 4647 blow 2787 fiercely 2787, The lead 5777 is consumed 8552 by the fire 800; In vain 7723 the refining 6884 goes 6884 on, But the wicked 7451a are not separated 5423.

 6:30 They call 7121 them rejected 3988a silver 3701, Because 3588 the LORD 3068 has rejected 3988a them.
