Jeremiah 32

1 Jeremiah, being imprisoned by Zedekiah for his prophecy, 6 buyeth Hanameel's field. 12 Baruch must preserve the evidences, as tokens of the people's return. 16 Jeremiah in his prayer complaineth to God. 26 God confirmeth the captivity for their sins, 36 and promiseth a gracious return.

 32:1 The word 1697 that came 1961 to Jeremiah 3414 from the LORD 3068 in the tenth 6224 year 8141 of Zedekiah 6667 king 4428 of Judah 3063, which 1931 was the eighteenth 8083 6240 year 8141 of Nebuchadnezzar 5019.

 32:2 Now at that time 227 the army 2428 of the king 4428 of Babylon 894 was besieging 6696a 5921 Jerusalem 3389, and Jeremiah 3414 the prophet 5030 was shut 3607 up in the court 2691a of the guard 4307, which 834 [was in] the house 1004 of the king 4428 of Judah 3063,

 32:3 because 834 Zedekiah 6667 king 4428 of Judah 3063 had shut 3607 him up, saying 559, “Why 4069 do you prophesy 5012, saying 559, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Behold 2009, I am about to give 5414 this 384 city 5892b into the hand 3027 of the king 4428 of Babylon 894, and he will take 3920 it;

 32:4 and Zedekiah 6667 king 4428 of Judah 3063 will not escape 4422 out of the hand 3027 of the Chaldeans 3778, but he will surely 5414 be given 5414 into the hand 3027 of the king 4428 of Babylon 894, and he will speak 1696 with him face 6310 to face 6310 and see 7200 him eye 5869 to eye 5869;

 32:5 and he will take 1980 Zedekiah 6667 to Babylon 894, and he will be there 8033 until 5704 I visit 6485 him,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068. “If 3588 you fight 3898a against 854 the Chaldeans 3778, you will not succeed 6743b”’?”

 32:6 ¶ And Jeremiah 3414 said 559, “The word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to me, saying 559,

 32:7 ‘Behold 2009, Hanamel 2601 the son 1121 of Shallum 7967 your uncle 1730 is coming 935 to you, saying 559, “Buy 7069 for yourself my field 7704 which 834 is at Anathoth 6068, for you have the right 4941 of redemption 1353 to buy 7069 [it].”’

 32:8 “Then Hanamel 2601 my uncle’s 1730 son 1121 came 935 to me in the court 2691a of the guard 4307 according to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 and said 559 to me, ‘Buy 7069 my field 7704, please 4994, that is at Anathoth 6068, which 834 is in the land 776 of Benjamin 1144; for you have the right 4941 of possession 3425 and the redemption 1353 is yours; buy 7069 [it] for yourself.’ Then I knew 3045 that this 1931 was the word 1697 of the LORD 3068.

 32:9 ¶ “I bought 7069 the field 7704 which 834 was at Anathoth 6068 from Hanamel 2601 my uncle’s 1730 son 1121, and I weighed 8254 out the silver 3701 for him, seventeen 7651 6235 shekels 8255 of silver 3701.

 32:10 “I signed 3789 and sealed 2856 the deed 5612, and called 5749b in witnesses 5707, and weighed 8254 out the silver 3701 on the scales 3976.

 32:11 “Then I took 3947 the deeds 5612 of purchase 4736, both the sealed 2856 [copy containing] the terms 4687 and conditions 2706 and the open 1540 [copy];

 32:12 and I gave 5414 the deed 5612 of purchase 4736 to Baruch 1263 the son 1121 of Neriah 5374, the son 1121 of Mahseiah 4271, in the sight 5869 of Hanamel 2601 my uncle’s 1730 [son] and in the sight 5869 of the witnesses 5707 who signed 3789 the deed 5612 of purchase 4736, before 5869 all 3605 the Jews 3064 who were sitting 3427 in the court 2691a of the guard 4307.

 32:13 “And I commanded 6680 Baruch 1263 in their presence 5869, saying 559,

 32:14 ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, the God 430 of Israel 3478, “Take 3947 these 428 deeds 5612, this 2088 sealed 2856 deed 5612 of purchase 4736 and this 2088 open 1540 deed 5612, and put 5414 them in an earthenware 2789 jar 3627, that they may last 5975 a long 7227a time 3117.”

 32:15 ‘For thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, the God 430 of Israel 3478, “Houses 1004 and fields 7704 and vineyards 3754 will again 5750 be bought 7069 in this 384 land 776.”’

 32:16 ¶ “After 310 I had given 5414 the deed 5612 of purchase 4736 to Baruch 1263 the son 1121 of Neriah 5374, then I prayed 6419 to the LORD 3068, saying 559,

 32:17 ‘Ah 162 Lord 136 GOD 3068! Behold 2009, You have made 6213a the heavens 8064 and the earth 776 by Your great 1419 power 3581b and by Your outstretched 5186 arm 2220! Nothing 3808 3605 1697 is too 4480 difficult 6381 for You,

 32:18 who shows 6213a lovingkindness 2617a to thousands 505, but repays 7999a the iniquity 5771 of fathers 1 into the bosom 2436 of their children 1121 after 310 them, O great 1419 and mighty 1368 God 410. The LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 is His name 8034;

 32:19 great 1419 in counsel 6098 and mighty 7227a in deed 5950, whose 834 eyes 5869 are open 6491b to all 3605 the ways 1870 of the sons 1121 of men 120, giving 5414 to everyone 376 according to his ways 1870 and according to the fruit 6529 of his deeds 4611;

 32:20 who 834 has set 7760 signs 226 and wonders 4159 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714, [and] even to this 2088 day 3117 both in Israel 3478 and among mankind 120; and You have made 6213a a name 8034 for Yourself, as at this 2088 day 3117.

 32:21 ‘You brought 3318 Your people 5971a Israel 3478 out of the land 776 of Egypt 4714 with signs 226 and with wonders 4159, and with a strong 2389 hand 3027 and with an outstretched 5186 arm 2220 and with great 1419 terror 4172;

 32:22 and gave 5414 them this 384 land 776, which 834 You swore 7650 to their forefathers 1 to give 5414 them, a land 776 flowing 2100 with milk 2461 and honey 1706.

 32:23 ‘They came 935 in and took 3423 possession 3423 of it, but they did not obey 8085 Your voice 6963 or walk 1980 in Your law 8451; they have done 6213a nothing 3808 of all 3605 that You commanded 6680 them to do 6213a; therefore You have made all 3605 this 384 calamity 7463a come 7122 upon them.

 32:24 ‘Behold 2009, the siege 5550 ramps 5550 have reached 935 the city 5892b to take 3920 it; and the city 5892b is given 5414 into the hand 3027 of the Chaldeans 3778 who fight 3898a against 5921 it, because 4480 6440 of the sword 2719, the famine 7458 and the pestilence 1698; and what 834 You have spoken 1696 has come 1961 to pass 1961; and behold 2009, You see 7200 [it].

 32:25 ‘You have said 559 to me, O Lord 136 GOD 3068, “Buy 7069 for yourself the field 7704 with money 3701 and call 5749b in witnesses 5707”—although the city 5892b is given 5414 into the hand 3027 of the Chaldeans 3778.’”

 32:26 ¶ Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Jeremiah 3414, saying 559,

 32:27 “Behold 2009, I am the LORD 3068, the God 430 of all 3605 flesh 1320; is anything 3605 1697 too 4480 difficult 6381 for Me?”

 32:28 Therefore 3651 thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Behold 2009, I am about to give 5414 this 384 city 5892b into the hand 3027 of the Chaldeans 3778 and into the hand 3027 of Nebuchadnezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon 894, and he will take 3920 it.

 32:29 “The Chaldeans 3778 who are fighting 3898a against 5921 this 384 city 5892b will enter 935 and set 3341 this 384 city 5892b on fire 784 and burn 8313 it, with the houses 1004 where 834 [people] have offered 6999 incense 6999 to Baal 1168a on their roofs 1406 and poured 5258a out drink 5262a offerings 5262a to other 312 gods 430 to provoke 3707 Me to anger 3707.

 32:30 “Indeed 3588 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 and the sons 1121 of Judah 3063 have been doing 6213a only 389 evil 7451a in My sight 5869 from their youth 5272a; for the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 have been only 389 provoking 3707 Me to anger 3707 by the work 4639 of their hands 3027,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068.

 32:31 “Indeed 3588 this 384 city 5892b has been 1961 to Me [a] [provocation of] My anger 639 and My wrath 2534 from the day 3117 that they built 1129 it, even to this 2088 day 3117, so that it should be removed 5493 from before 5921 My face 6440,

 32:32 because 5921 of all 3605 the evil 7463a of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 and the sons 1121 of Judah 3063 which 834 they have done 6213a to provoke 3707 Me to anger 3707—they, their kings 4428, their leaders 8269, their priests 3548, their prophets 5030, the men 376 of Judah 3063 and the inhabitants 3427 of Jerusalem 3389.

 32:33 “They have turned 6437 [their] back 6203 to Me and not [their] face 6440; though [I] taught 3925 them, teaching 3925 again 7925 and again 3925, they would not listen 8085 and receive 3947 instruction 4148.

 32:34 “But they put 7760 their detestable 8251 things 8251 in the house 1004 which 834 is called 7121 by My name 8034, to defile 2930 it.

 32:35 “They built 1129 the high 1116 places 1116 of Baal 1168a that are in the valley 1516 of Ben-hinnom 1121 2011 to cause their sons 1121 and their daughters 1323 to pass 5674a through 5674a [the fire] to Molech 4432, which 834 I had not commanded 6680 them nor 3808 had it entered 5927 My mind 3820 that they should do 6213a this 384 abomination 8441, to cause Judah 3063 to sin 2398.

 32:36 ¶ “Now 6258 therefore 3651 thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel 3478 concerning 413 this 384 city 5892b of which 834 you say 559, ‘It is given 5414 into the hand 3027 of the king 4428 of Babylon 894 by sword 2719, by famine 7458 and by pestilence 1698.’

 32:37 “Behold 2009, I will gather 6908 them out of all 3605 the lands 776 to which 834 I have driven 5080 them in My anger 639, in My wrath 2534 and in great 1419 indignation 7110a; and I will bring 7725 them back 7725 to this 2088 place 4725 and make them dwell 3427 in safety 983.

 32:38 “They shall be My people 5971a, and I will be their God 430;

 32:39 and I will give 5414 them one 259 heart 3820 and one 259 way 1870, that they may fear 3372a Me always 3605 3117, for their own good 2896b and for [the good of] their children 1121 after 310 them.

 32:40 “I will make 3772 an everlasting 5769 covenant 1285 with them that I will not turn 7725 away 7725 from them, to do 3190 them good 3190; and I will put 5414 the fear 3374 of Me in their hearts 3824 so that they will not turn 5493 away 5493 from Me.

 32:41 “I will rejoice 7797 over 5921 them to do 3190 them good 3190 and will faithfully 571 plant 5193 them in this 384 land 776 with all 3605 My heart 3820 and with all 3605 My soul 5315.

 32:42 “For thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, ‘Just 3512c as I brought 935 all 3605 this 384 great 1419 disaster 7463a on this 2088 people 5971a, so 3651 I am going to bring 935 on them all 3605 the good 2899b that I am promising 1696 them.

 32:43 ‘Fields 7704 will be bought 7069 in this 384 land 776 of which 834 you say 559, “It is a desolation 8077, without 369 man 120 or beast 929; it is given 5414 into the hand 3027 of the Chaldeans 3778.”

 32:44 ‘Men will buy 7069 fields 7704 for money 3701, sign 3789 and seal 2856 deeds 5612, and call 5749b in witnesses 5707 in the land 776 of Benjamin 1144, in the environs 5439 of Jerusalem 3389, in the cities 5892b of Judah 3063, in the cities 5892b of the hill 2022 country 2022, in the cities 5892b of the lowland 8219 and in the cities 5892b of the Negev 5045; for I will restore 7725 their fortunes 7622,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068.”
