 14:1 ¶ And it came to pass in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed.

 14:1 ¶ Andº it came to passºº inº Iconium,º that theyº wentºº bothº togetherºº intoº theº synagogueº of theº Jews,º andº soº spake,ºº thatº a greatº multitudeº bothº of the Jewsº andº alsoº of the Greeksº believed.ºº

 14:2 But the Jews that were disobedient stirred up the souls of the Gentiles, and made them evil affected against the brethren.

 14:2 Butº theº unbelievingºº Jewsº stirred upºº theº Gentiles,º andº madeºº their mindsº evil affectedººº againstº theº brethren.º

 14:3 Long time therefore they tarried [there] speaking boldly in the Lord, who bare witness unto the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

 14:3 Longº timeºº thereforeºº abodeº theyºº speaking boldlyºº inº theº Lord,º whichº gave testimonyºº unto theº wordº of hisºº grace,º andº grantedºº signsº andº wondersº to be doneºº byº theirº hands.º

 14:4 But the multitude of the city was divided; and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

 14:4 Butº theº multitudeº of theº cityº was divided:ºº andº partºº heldºº withº theº Jews,º andº partº withº theº apostles.º

 14:5 And when there was made an onset both of the Gentiles and of the Jews with their rulers, to treat them shamefully and to stone them,

 14:5 Andº whenº there wasºº an assaultº madeºº bothº of theº Gentiles,º andº alsoº of the Jewsº withº theirº rulers,º to use [them] despitefully,ºº andº to stoneºº them,º

 14:6 they became aware of it, and fled unto the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the region round about:

 14:6 They were wareºº ofº [it], and fledºº untoº Lystraº andº Derbe,º citiesº of Lycaonia,º andº unto theº region that lieth round about:º

 14:7 and there they preached the gospel.

 14:7 And thereº they preached the gospel.ºººº

 14:8 ¶ And at Lystra there sat a certain man, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked.

 14:8 ¶ Andº there satºº a certainº manº atº Lystra,º impotentº in his feet,º beingºº a crippleº fromº hisºº mother'sº womb,º whoº neverº had walked:ºº

 14:9 The same heard Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes upon him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,

 14:9 The sameº heardºº Paulº speak:ºº whoº stedfastly beholdingºº him,º andº perceivingºº thatº he hadºº faithº to be healed,ºº

 14:10 said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped up and walked.

 14:10 Saidºº with a loudº voice,º Standºº uprightº onº thyº feet.º Andº he leapedºº andº walked.ºº

 14:11 And when the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

 14:11 Andº when theº peopleº sawºº whatº Paulº had done,ºº they lifted upºº theirºº voices,º sayingºº in the speech of Lycaonia,º Theº godsº are come downºº toº usº in the likenessºº of men.º

 14:12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercury, because he was the chief speaker.

 14:12 Andº they calledºº Barnabas,ºº Jupiter;º andº Paul,º Mercurius,º becauseº heº wasºº theº chiefºº speaker.ºº

 14:13 And the priest of Jupiter whose [temple] was before the city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the multitudes.

 14:13 Thenº theº priestº of Jupiter,º whichº wasºº beforeº theirº city,º broughtºº oxenº andº garlandsº untoº theº gates,º and wouldºº have done sacrificeºº withº theº people.º

 14:14 But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they rent their garments, and sprang forth among the multitude, crying out

 14:14 [Which] whenº theº apostles,º Barnabasº andº Paul,º heardºº [of], they rentºº theirºº clothes,º and ranºº inº amongº theº people,º crying out,ºº

 14:15 and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good tidings, that ye should turn from these vain things unto a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is:

 14:15 Andº saying,ºº Sirs,º whyº doº yeºº these things?ºº Weº alsoº areºº menº of like passionsº with you,º and preachºº unto youº that ye should turnºº fromº theseºº vanitiesº untoº theº livingºº God,º whichº madeºº heaven,º andº earth,º andº theº sea,º andº all thingsº thatº are therein:ºº

 14:16 who in the generations gone by suffered all the nations to walk in their own ways.

 14:16 Whoº inº timesº pastºº sufferedºº allº nationsº to walkºº in their ownºº ways.º

 14:17 And yet He left not himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.

 14:17 Neverthelessºº he leftºº notº himselfº without witness,º in that he did good,ºº and gaveºº usº rainº from heaven,º andº fruitfulº seasons,º fillingºº ourº heartsº with foodº andºº gladness.º

 14:18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the multitudes from doing sacrifice unto them.

 14:18 Andº with theseº sayingsºº scarceº restrainedº theyºº theº people,º that they hadºº notº done sacrificeºº unto them.º

 14:19 ¶ But there came Jews thither from Antioch and Iconium: and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

 14:19 ¶ Andº there came thitherºº [certain] Jewsº fromº Antiochº andº Iconium,º whoº persuadedºº theº people,º and,º having stonedºº Paul,º drewºº [him] outº ofº theº city,º supposingºº heº had been dead.ºº

 14:20 But as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and entered into the city: and on the morrow he went forth with Barnabas to Derbe.

 14:20 Howbeit,º as theº disciplesº stood round aboutºº him,º he rose up,ºº and cameºº intoº theº city:º andº theº next dayº he departedºº withº Barnabasº toº Derbe.º

 14:21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,

 14:21 Andº when they had preached the gospelºº to thatº city,º andº had taughtºº many,º they returned againºº toº Lystra,º andº [to] Iconium,º andº Antioch,º

 14:22 confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

 14:22 Confirmingºº theº soulsº of theº disciples,º [and] exhortingº themºº to continueºº in theº faith,º andº thatº weº mustºº throughº muchº tribulationº enterºº intoº theº kingdomº of God.º

 14:23 And when they had appointed for them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.

 14:23 Andº when they had ordainedºº themº eldersº in everyº church,ºº and had prayedºº withº fasting,º they commendedºº themº to theº Lord,º onº whomº they believed.ºº

 14:24 And they passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.

 14:24 Andº after they had passed throughoutºº Pisidia,º they cameºº toº Pamphylia.º

 14:25 And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia;

 14:25 Andº when they had preachedºº theº wordº inº Perga,º they went downºº intoº Attalia:º

 14:26 and thence they sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.

 14:26 And thenceº sailedºº toº Antioch,º from whenceº they had beenºº recommendedºº to theº graceº of Godº forº theº workº whichº they fulfilled.ººº

 14:27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith unto the Gentiles.

 14:27 Andº when they were come,ºº andº had gatheredºº the churchº together,ºººº they rehearsedºº allº thatº Godº had doneºº withº them,º andº howº he had openedºº the doorº of faithº unto theº Gentiles.º

 14:28 And they tarried no little time with the disciples.

 14:28 Andº thereº they abodeºº longºº timeº withº theº disciples.º
