 6:1 ¶ Now in these days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Grecian Jews against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

 6:1 ¶ Andº inº thoseº days,º when the numberºº of theº disciplesº was multiplied,ºº there aroseºº a murmuringº of theº Greciansº againstº theº Hebrews,º becauseº theirº widowsº were neglectedºº inº theº dailyº ministration.º

 6:2 And the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not fit that we should forsake the word of God, and serve tables.

 6:2 Thenº theº twelveº calledºº theº multitudeº of theº disciplesº [unto them], and said,ºº It isºº notº reasonº that weº should leaveºº theº wordº of God,º and serveºº tables.º

 6:3 Look ye out therefore, brethren, from among you seven men of good report, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

 6:3 Wherefore,º brethren,º look ye outºº amongº youº sevenº menº of honest report,ºº fullº of the Holyº Ghostº andº wisdom,º whomº we may appointºº overº thisº business.º

 6:4 But we will continue stedfastly in prayer, and in the ministry of the word.

 6:4 Butº weº will give ourselves continuallyºº to prayer,º andº to theº ministryº of theº word.º

 6:5 ¶ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus a proselyte of Antioch;

 6:5 ¶ Andº theº sayingº pleasedººº theº wholeº multitude:º andº they choseºº Stephen,º a manº fullº of faithº andº of the Holyº Ghost,º andº Philip,º andº Prochorus,º andº Nicanor,º andº Timon,º andº Parmenas,º andº Nicolasº a proselyteº of Antioch:º

 6:6 whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands upon them.

 6:6 Whomº they setºº beforeº theº apostles:º andº when they had prayed,ºº they laidºº [their] handsº onººº them.º

 6:7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

 6:7 Andº theº wordº of Godº increased;ºº andº theº numberº of theº disciplesº multipliedºº inº Jerusalemº greatly;º andº a greatº companyº of theº priestsº were obedientºº to theº faith.º

 6:8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, wrought great wonders and signs among the people.

 6:8 Andº Stephen,º fullº of faithº andº power,º didºº greatº wondersº andº miraclesº amongº theº people.º

 6:9 ¶ But there arose certain of them that were of the synagogue called [the synagogue] of the Libertines, and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and Asia, disputing with Stephen.

 6:9 ¶ Thenº there aroseºº certainº ofº theº synagogue,º whichº is calledºº [the synagogue] of the Libertines,º andº Cyrenians,º andº Alexandrians,º andº of themº ofº Ciliciaº andº of Asia,º disputingºº withº Stephen.º

 6:10 And they were not able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spake.

 6:10 Andº they wereºº notº ableººº to resistºº theº wisdomº andº theº spiritº by whichº he spake.ºº

 6:11 Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and [against] God.

 6:11 Thenº they subornedºº men,º which said,ººº We have heardºº himº speakºº blasphemousº wordsº againstº Moses,º andº [against] God.º

 6:12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and seized him, and brought him into the council,

 6:12 Andº they stirred upºº theº people,º andº theº elders,º andº theº scribes,º andº came uponºº [him], and caughtºº him,º andº broughtºº [him] toº theº council,º

 6:13 and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law:

 6:13 Andº set upºº falseº witnesses,º which said,ºº Thisºº manº ceasethºº notº to speakºº blasphemousº wordsº againstº thisºº holyº place,º andº theº law:º

 6:14 for we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered unto us.

 6:14 Forº we have heardºº himº say,ºº thatº thisºº Jesusº of Nazarethº shall destroyºº thisºº place,º andº shall changeºº theº customsº whichº Mosesº deliveredºº us.º

 6:15 And all that sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

 6:15 Andº allº that satºº inº theº council,º looking stedfastlyºº onº him,º sawºº hisº faceº as it had beenº the faceº of an angel.º
