 23:1 ¶
He that is fractured or mutilated in his private parts shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord. |
|
 23:1 ¶
He that is wounded in the stones,ººº
or hath his privy memberº
cut off,ºº
shall notº
enterºº
into the congregationº
of Yahweh.º |
 23:2
[One born] of a harlot shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord. |
|
 23:2
A bastardº
shall notº
enterºº
into the congregationº
of Yahweh;º
evenº
to his tenthº
generationº
shall he notº
enterºº
into the congregationº
of Yahweh.º |
 23:3
The Ammonite{gr.Ammanite} and Moabite shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord, even until the tenth generation he shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord, even for ever: |
|
 23:3
An Ammoniteº
or Moabiteº
shall notº
enterºº
into the congregationº
of Yahweh;º
evenº
to their tenthº
generationº
shall they notº
enterºº
into the congregationº
of Yahwehº
forº
ever:ºº |
 23:4
because they met you not with bread and water by the way, when ye went out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Padanaram{gr.Mesopotamia} to curse thee. |
|
 23:4
Becauseºº
theyº
metºº
you notº
with breadº
and with waterº
in the way,º
when ye came forthºº
out of Egypt;ºº
and becauseº
they hiredºº
againstº
theeº
Balaamº
the sonº
of Beorº
of Pethorºº
of Mesopotamia,º
to curseºº
thee. |
 23:5
But the Lord thy God would not hearken to Balaam; and the Lord thy God changed the curses into blessings, because the Lord thy God loved thee. |
|
 23:5
Nevertheless Yahwehº
thy Elohimº
wouldºº
notº
hearkenºº
untoº
Balaam;º
but Yahwehº
thy Elohimº
turnedººº
the curseº
into a blessingº
unto thee, becauseº
Yahwehº
thy Elohimº
lovedºº
thee. |
 23:6
Thou shalt not speak peaceably or profitably to them all thy days for ever. |
|
 23:6
Thou shalt notº
seekºº
their peaceº
nor their prosperityº
allº
thy daysº
for ever.º |
 23:7 ¶
Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite, because he is thy brother; thou shalt not abhor a Mizraimite{gr.Egyptian}, because thou wast a stranger in his land. |
|
 23:7 ¶
Thou shalt notº
abhorºº
an Edomite;º
forº
heº
[is] thy brother:º
thou shalt notº
abhorºº
an Egyptian;º
becauseº
thou wastº
a strangerº
in his land.º |
 23:8
If sons be born to them, in the third generation they shall enter into the assembly of the Lord. |
|
 23:8
The childrenº
thatº
are begottenºº
of them shall enterºº
into the congregationº
of Yahwehº
in their thirdº
generation.º |
 23:9 ¶
And if thou shouldest go forth to engage with thine enemies, then thou shalt keep thee from every wicked thing. |
|
 23:9 ¶
Whenº
the hostº
goeth forthºº
againstº
thine enemies,ºº
then keepºº
theeº
from everyºº
wickedº
thing.º |
 23:10 ¶
If there should be in thee a man who is not clean by reason of his issue by night, then he shall go forth out of the camp, and he shall not enter into the camp. |
|
 23:10 ¶
Ifº
there beº
among you any man,º
thatº
isº
notº
cleanº
by reason of uncleanness that chancethºº
him by night,º
then shall he goºº
abroadºº
out ofººº
the camp,º
he shall notº
comeºº
withinºº
the camp:º |
 23:11
And it shall come to pass toward evening he shall wash his body with water, and when the sun has gone down, he shall go into the camp. |
|
 23:11
But it shall be,º
when eveningº
cometh on,ºº
he shall washºº
[himself] with water:º
and when the sunº
is down,ºº
he shall comeºº
intoºº
the campº
[again]. |
 23:12 ¶
And thou shalt have a place outside of the camp, and thou shalt go out thither, |
|
 23:12 ¶
Thou shalt haveº
a placeº
alsoº
withoutºº
the camp,º
whitherº
thou shalt go forthºº
abroad:º |
 23:13
and thou shalt have a trowel on thy girdle; and it shall come to pass when thou wouldest relieve thyself abroad, that thou shalt dig with it, and shalt bring back the earth and cover thy nuisance. |
|
 23:13
And thou shalt haveº
a paddleº
uponº
thy weapon;º
and it shall be,º
when thou wilt easeºº
thyself abroad,º
thou shalt digºº
therewith, and shalt turn backºº
and coverººº
that which comethº
from thee: |
 23:14
Because the Lord thy God walks in thy camp to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemy before thy face; and thy camp shall be holy, and there shall not appear in thee a disgraceful thing, and [so] he shall turn away from thee. |
|
 23:14
Forº
Yahwehº
thy Elohimº
walkethºº
in the midstº
of thy camp,º
to deliverºº
thee, and to give upºº
thine enemiesºº
beforeº
thee; therefore shall thy campº
beº
holy:º
that he seeºº
noº
uncleanº
thingº
in thee, and turn awayºº
fromºº
thee.º |
 23:15 ¶
Thou shalt not deliver a servant to his master, who [coming] from his master attaches himself to thee. |
|
 23:15 ¶
Thou shalt notº
deliverºº
untoº
his adonº
the servantº
whichº
is escapedºº
fromºº
his adonº
untoº
thee: |
 23:16
He shall dwell with thee, he shall dwell among you where he shall please; thou shalt not afflict him. |
|
 23:16
He shall dwellºº
withº
thee, [even] amongº
you, in that placeº
whichº
he shall chooseºº
in oneº
of thy gates,º
where it liketh him best:º
thou shalt notº
oppressºº
him. |
 23:17 ¶
There shall not be a harlot of the daughters of Israel, and there shall not be a fornicator of the sons of Israel; there shall not be an idolatress of the daughters of Israel, and there shall not be an initiated person of the sons of Israel. |
|
 23:17 ¶
There shall beº
noº
whoreº
of the daughtersºº
of Israel,º
norº
a sodomiteº
of the sonsºº
of Israel.º |
 23:18
Thou shalt not bring the hire of a harlot, nor the price of a dog into the house of the Lord thy God, for any vow; because even both are an abomination to the Lord thy God. |
|
 23:18
Thou shalt notº
bringºº
the hireº
of a whore,ºº
or the priceº
of a dog,º
into the houseº
of Yahwehº
thy Elohimº
for anyº
vow:º
forº
evenº
bothº
these [are] abominationº
unto Yahwehº
thy Elohim.º |
 23:19 ¶
Thou shalt not lend to thy brother on usury of silver, or usury of meat, or usury of any thing which thou mayest lend out. |
|
 23:19 ¶
Thou shalt notº
lend upon usuryºº
to thy brother;º
usuryº
of money,º
usuryº
of victuals,º
usuryº
of anyº
thingº
thatº
is lent upon usury:ºº |
 23:20
Thou mayest lend on usury to a stranger, but to thy brother thou shalt not lend on usury; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all thy works upon the land, into which thou art entering to inherit it. |
|
 23:20
Unto a strangerº
thou mayest lend upon usury;ºº
but unto thy brotherº
thou shalt notº
lend upon usury:ºº
thatº
Yahwehº
thy Elohimº
may blessºº
thee in allº
that thou settestº
thine handº
to inº
the landº
whitherºº
thouº
goestºº
to possessºº
it. |
 23:21 ¶
And if thou wilt vow a vow to the Lord thy God, thou shalt not delay to pay it; for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee, and [otherwise] it shall be sin in thee. |
|
 23:21 ¶
Whenº
thou shalt vowºº
a vowº
unto Yahwehº
thy Elohim,º
thou shalt notº
slackºº
to payºº
it: forº
Yahwehº
thy Elohimº
will surelyºº
requireºº
it ofºº
thee; and it would beº
sinº
in thee. |
 23:22
But if thou shouldest be unwilling to vow, it is not sin in thee. |
|
 23:22
But ifº
thou shalt forbearºº
to vow,ºº
it shall beº
noº
sinº
in thee. |
 23:23
Thou shalt observe the words that proceed from between thy lips; and as thou hast vowed a gift to the Lord God, [so] shalt thou do that which thou hast spoken with thy mouth. |
|
 23:23
That which is gone outº
of thy lipsº
thou shalt keepºº
and perform;ºº
[even] a freewill offering,º
according asº
thou hast vowedºº
unto Yahwehº
thy Elohim,º
whichº
thou hast promisedºº
with thy mouth.º |
 23:24 ¶
And if thou shouldest go into the vineyard of thy neighbour, thou shalt eat grapes sufficient to satisfy thy desire; but thou mayest not put them into a vessel. |
|
 23:24 ¶
Whenº
thou comestºº
into thy neighbour'sº
vineyard,º
then thou mayest eatºº
grapesº
thy fillº
at thine own pleasure;º
but thou shalt notº
putºº
[any] inº
thy vessel.º |
 23:25
And if thou shouldest go into the corn field of thy neighbour, then thou mayest gather the ears with thy hands; but thou shalt not put the sickle to thy neighbour's corn. |
|
 23:25
Whenº
thou comestºº
into the standing cornº
of thy neighbour,º
then thou mayest pluckºº
the earsº
with thine hand;º
but thou shalt notº
moveºº
a sickleº
untoº
thy neighbour'sº
standing corn.º |
