 8:1 ¶ Ye shall observe to do all the commands which I charge you to-day, that ye may live and be multiplied, and enter in and inherit the land, which the Lord your God sware [to give] to your fathers.

 8:1 ¶ Allº the commandmentsº whichº Iº commandºº thee this dayº shall ye observeºº to do,ºº thatº ye may live,ºº and multiply,ºº and go inºº and possessººº the landº whichº Yahwehº swareºº unto your fathers.º

 8:2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee in the wilderness, that he might afflict thee, and try thee, and that the things in thine heart might be made manifest, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments or no.

 8:2 And thou shalt rememberººº allº the wayº whichº Yahwehº thy Elohimº ledººº thee theseº fortyº yearsº in the wilderness,º toº humbleºº thee, [and] to proveºº thee, to knowººº whatº [was] in thine heart,º whether thou wouldest keepºº his commandments,º orº no.º

 8:3 And he afflicted thee and straitened thee with hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thy fathers knew not; that he might teach thee that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God shall man live.

 8:3 And he humbledºº thee, and suffered thee to hunger,ºº and fedºº thee withº manna,º whichº thou knewestºº not,º neitherº did thy fathersº know;ºº thatº he might make thee knowºº thatº manº doth notº liveºº byº breadº only,º butº byº everyº [word] that proceedethº outº of the mouthº of Yahwehº doth manº live.ºº

 8:4 Thy garments grew not old from off thee, thy shoes were not worn from off thee, thy feet were not [painfully] hardened, lo! these forty years.

 8:4 Thy raimentº waxed not oldººº uponºº thee, neitherº did thy footº swell,ºº theseº fortyº years.º

 8:5 And thou shalt know in thine heart, that as if any man should chasten his son, so the Lord thy God will chasten thee.

 8:5 Thou shalt also considerºº inº thine heart,º that,º asº a manº chastenethººº his son,º [so] Yahwehº thy Elohimº chastenethºº thee.

 8:6 And thou shalt keep the commands of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

 8:6 Therefore thou shalt keepººº the commandmentsº of Yahwehº thy Elohim,º to walkººº in his ways,º and to fearºº him.

 8:7 For the Lord thy God will bring thee into a good and extensive land, where there are torrents of waters, and fountains of deep places issuing through the plains and through the mountains:

 8:7 Forº Yahwehº thy Elohimº bringethºº thee intoº a goodº land,º a landº of brooksº of water,º of fountainsº and depthsº that spring outºº of valleysº and hills;º

 8:8 a land of wheat and barley, [wherein are] vines, figs, pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey;

 8:8 A landº of wheat,º and barley,º and vines,º and fig trees,º and pomegranates;º a landº of oilº olive,º and honey;º

 8:9 a land on which thou shalt not eat thy bread with poverty, and thou shalt not want any thing upon it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of its mountains thou shalt dig brass.

 8:9 A landº whereinº thou shalt eatºº breadº withoutº scarceness,º thou shalt notº lackºº anyº [thing] in it; a landº whoseº stonesº [are] iron,º and out of whose hillsºº thou mayest digºº brass.º

 8:10 And thou shalt eat and be filled, and shalt bless the Lord thy God on the good land, which he has given thee.

 8:10 When thou hast eatenºº and art full,ºº then thou shalt blessººº Yahwehº thy Elohimº forº the goodº landº whichº he hath givenºº thee.

 8:11 Take heed to thyself that thou forget not the Lord thy God, so as not to keep his commands, and his judgments, and ordinances, which I command thee this day:

 8:11 Bewareºº that thou forgetºº notººº Yahwehº thy Elohim,º in notº keepingºº his commandments,º and his judgments,º and his statutes,º whichº Iº commandºº thee this day:º

 8:12 lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt in them;

 8:12 Lestº [when] thou hast eatenºº and art full,ºº and hast builtºº goodlyº houses,º and dweltºº [therein];

 8:13 and thy oxen and thy sheep are multiplied to thee, and thy silver and thy gold are multiplied to thee, and all thy possessions are multiplied to thee,

 8:13 And [when] thy herdsº and thy flocksº multiply,ºº and thy silverº and thy goldº is multiplied,ºº and allº thatº thou hast is multiplied;ºº

 8:14 thou shouldest be exalted in heart, and forget the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, out of the house of bondage:

 8:14 Then thine heartº be lifted up,ºº and thou forgetººº Yahwehº thy Elohim,º which brought thee forthºº out of the landºº of Egypt,º from the houseºº of bondage;º

 8:15 who brought thee through that great and terrible wilderness, where [is] the biting serpent, and scorpion, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee a fountain of water out of the flinty rock:

 8:15 Who ledººº thee through that greatº and terribleºº wilderness,º [wherein were] fieryº serpents,º and scorpions,º and drought,º whereº [there was] noº water;º who brought thee forthºº waterº out of the rockºº of flint;º

 8:16 who fed thee with manna in the wilderness, which thou knewest not, and thy fathers knew not; that he might afflict thee, and thoroughly try thee, and do thee good in thy latter days.

 8:16 Who fedºº thee in the wildernessº with manna,º whichº thy fathersº knewºº not,º thatº he might humbleºº thee, and thatº he might proveºº thee, to do thee goodºº at thy latter end;º

 8:17 Lest thou shouldest say in thine heart, My strength, and the power of mine hand have wrought for me this great wealth.

 8:17 And thou sayºº in thine heart,º My powerº and the mightº of [mine] handº hath gottenºº meº thisº wealth.º

 8:18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God, that he gives thee strength to get wealth; even that he may establish his covenant, which the Lord sware to thy fathers, as at this day.

 8:18 But thou shalt rememberººº Yahwehº thy Elohim:º forº [it is] heº that givethºº thee powerº to getºº wealth,º thatº he may establishººº his covenantº whichº he swareºº unto thy fathers,º as [it is] thisº day.º

 8:19 And it shall come to pass if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and shouldest go after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall surely perish.

 8:19 And it shall be,º ifº thou do at allºº forgetººº Yahwehº thy Elohim,º and walkºº afterº otherº elohim,º and serveºº them, and worshipºº them, I testifyºº against you this dayº thatº ye shall surelyºº perish.ºº

 8:20 As also the other nations which the Lord God destroys before your face, so shall ye perish, because ye hearkened not to the voice of the Lord your God.

 8:20 As the nationsº whichº Yahwehº destroyethºº before your face,ºº soº shall ye perish;ºº becauseº ye would notº be obedientºº unto the voiceº of Yahwehº your Elohim.º
