 5:1 ¶ And Mosheh{gr.Moses} called all Israel, and said to them, Hear, Israel, the ordinances and judgments, all that I speak in your ears this day, and ye shall learn them, and observe to do them.

 5:1 ¶ And Mosesº calledººº allº Israel,º and saidºº untoº them, Hear,ºº O Israel,ºº the statutesº and judgmentsº whichº Iº speakºº in your earsº this day,º that ye may learnºº them, and keep,ºº and doºº them.

 5:2 The Lord your God made a covenant with you in Horeb{gr.Choreb}.

 5:2 Yahwehº our Elohimº madeºº a covenantº withº us in Horeb.º

 5:3 The Lord did not make this covenant with your fathers, but with you: ye are all here alive this day.

 5:3 Yahwehº madeºº notºº thisº covenantº withº our fathers,º butº withº us,º [even] us,º whoº [are] allº of usº hereº aliveº this day.º

 5:4 The Lord spoke to you face to face in the mountain out of the midst of the fire.

 5:4 Yahwehº talkedºº withº you faceº to faceº in the mountº out of the midstºº of the fire,º

 5:5 And I stood between the Lord and you at that time to report to you the words of the Lord, (because ye were afraid before the fire, and ye went not up to the mountain,) saying,

 5:5 (Iº stoodºº betweenº Yahwehº and you at thatº time,º to shewºº youº the wordº of Yahweh:º forº ye were afraidºº by reasonº ofºº the fire,º and went not upººº into the mount;)º saying,ºº

 5:6 ¶ I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, out of the house of bondage.

 5:6 ¶ Iº [am] Yahwehº thy Elohim,º whichº broughtº thee outºº of the landºº of Egypt,º from the houseºº of bondage.º

 5:7 Thou shalt have no other gods before my face.

 5:7 Thou shalt haveº noneº otherº elohimº beforeºº me.

 5:8 Thou shalt not make to thyself an image, nor likeness of any thing, whatever things [are] in the heaven above, and whatever [are] in the earth beneath, and whatever [are] in the waters under the earth.

 5:8 Thou shalt notº makeºº thee [any] graven image,º [or] anyº likenessº [of any thing] thatº [is] in heavenº above,ºº or thatº [is] in the earthº beneath,ºº or thatº [is] in the watersº beneathºº the earth:º

 5:9 Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor shalt thou serve them; for I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, visiting the sins of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation to them that hate me,

 5:9 Thou shalt notº bow downºº thyselfº unto them, norº serveºº them: forº Iº Yahwehº thy Elohimº [am] a jealousº El,º visitingºº the iniquityº of the fathersº uponº the childrenº untoº the thirdº and fourthº [generation] of them that hateºº me,

 5:10 and doing mercifully to thousands of them that love me, and that keep my commandments.

 5:10 And shewingºº mercyº unto thousandsº of them that loveºº me and keepºº my commandments.º

 5:11 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord thy God will certainly not acquit him that takes his name in vain.

 5:11 Thou shalt notº takeººº the nameº of Yahwehº thy Elohimº in vain:º forº Yahwehº will notº hold [him] guiltlessººº thatº takethººº his nameº in vain.º

 5:12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God commanded thee.

 5:12 Keepººº the sabbathº dayº to sanctifyºº it, asº Yahwehº thy Elohimº hath commandedºº thee.

 5:13 Six days thou shalt work, and thou shalt do all thy works;

 5:13 Sixº daysº thou shalt labour,ºº and doºº allº thy work:º

 5:14 but on the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the Lord thy God: thou shalt do in it no work, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, thine ox, and thine ass, and all thy cattle, and the stranger that sojourns in the midst of thee; that thy man-servant may rest, and thy maid, and thine ox, as well as thou.

 5:14 But the seventhº dayº [is] the sabbathº of Yahwehº thy Elohim:º [in it] thou shalt notº doºº anyº work,º thou,º nor thy son,º nor thy daughter,º nor thy manservant,º nor thy maidservant,º nor thine ox,º nor thine ass,º nor anyº of thy cattle,º nor thy strangerº thatº [is] within thy gates;º thatº thy manservantº and thy maidservantº may restºº as well as thou.

 5:15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a slave in the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, and the Lord thy God brought thee out thence with a mighty hand, and a high arm: therefore the Lord appointed thee to keep the sabbath day and to sanctify it.

 5:15 And rememberºº thatº thou wastº a servantº in the landº of Egypt,º and [that] Yahwehº thy Elohimº broughtºº thee outº thenceºº through a mightyº handº and by a stretched outºº arm:º thereforeºº Yahwehº thy Elohimº commandedºº thee to keepººº the sabbathº day.º

 5:16 ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God commanded thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long upon the land, which the Lord thy God gives thee.

 5:16 ¶ Honourººº thy fatherº and thy mother,º asº Yahwehº thy Elohimº hath commandedºº thee; thatº thy daysº may be prolonged,ºº and thatº it may go wellºº with thee, inº the landº whichº Yahwehº thy Elohimº givethºº thee.

 5:17 Thou shalt not commit murder.

 5:17 Thou shalt notº kill.ºº

 5:18 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

 5:18 Neitherº shalt thou commit adultery.ºº

 5:19 Thou shalt not steal.

 5:19 Neitherº shalt thou steal.ºº

 5:20 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

 5:20 Neitherº shalt thou bearºº falseº witnessº against thy neighbour.º

 5:21 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, nor his field, nor his man-servant, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any beast of his, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

 5:21 Neitherº shalt thou desireºº thy neighbour'sº wife,º neitherº shalt thou covetºº thy neighbour'sº house,º his field,º or his manservant,º or his maidservant,º his ox,º or his ass,º or anyº [thing] thatº [is] thy neighbour's.º

 5:22 ¶ These words the Lord spoke to all the assembly of you in the mountain out of the midst of the fire-- [there was] darkness, blackness, storm, a loud voice-- and he added no more, and he wrote them on two tables of stone, and he gave them to me.

 5:22 ¶ º Theseº wordsº Yahwehº spakeºº untoº allº your assemblyº in the mountº out of the midstºº of the fire,º of the cloud,º and of the thick darkness,º with a greatº voice:º and he added no more.ººº And he wroteºº them inº twoº tablesº of stone,º and deliveredºº them untoº me.

 5:23 And it came to pass when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the fire, for the mountain burned with fire, that ye came to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders:

 5:23 And it came to pass,º when ye heardººº the voiceº out of the midstºº of the darkness,º (for the mountainº did burnºº with fire,)º that ye came nearºº untoº me, [even] allº the headsº of your tribes,º and your elders;º

 5:24 and ye said, Behold, the Lord our God has shewn us his glory, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: this day we have seen that God shall speak to man, and he shall live.

 5:24 And ye said,ºº Behold,º Yahwehº our Elohimº hath shewedºº usº his gloryº and his greatness,º and we have heardºº his voiceº out of the midstºº of the fire:º we have seenºº thisº dayº thatº Elohimº doth talkºº withº man,º and he liveth.ºº

 5:25 And now let us not die, for this great fire will consume us, if we shall hear the voice of the Lord our God any more, and we shall die.

 5:25 Nowº therefore whyº should we die?ºº forº thisº greatº fireº will consumeºº us: ifº weº hearººº the voiceº of Yahwehº our Elohimº any more,ººº then we shall die.ºº

 5:26 For what flesh [is there] which has heard the voice of the living God, speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we [have heard], and shall live?

 5:26 Forº whoº [is there of] allº flesh,º thatº hath heardºº the voiceº of the livingº Elohimº speakingºº out of the midstºº of the fire,º as weº [have], and lived?ºº

 5:27 Do thou draw near, and hear all that the Lord our God shall say, and thou shalt speak to us all things whatsoever the Lord our God shall speak to thee, and we will hear, and do.

 5:27 Go thou near,ººº and hearººº allº thatº Yahwehº our Elohimº shall say:ºº and speakºº thouº untoº usº allº thatº Yahwehº our Elohimº shall speakºº untoº thee; and we will hearºº [it], and doºº [it].

 5:28 And the Lord heard the voice of your words as ye spoke to me; and the Lord said to me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, even all things that they have said to thee. [They have] well [said] all that they have spoken.

 5:28 And Yahwehº heardººº the voiceº of your words,º when ye spakeºº untoº me; and Yahwehº saidºº untoº me, I have heardººº the voiceº of the wordsº of thisº people,º whichº they have spokenºº untoº thee: they have wellºº saidº allº thatº they have spoken.ºº

 5:29 O that there were such a heart in them, that they should fear me and keep my commands always, that it might be well with them and with their sons for ever.

 5:29 O thatºº there wereº suchº anº heartº in them,ºº that they would fearºº me, and keepººº allº my commandmentsº always,ºº thatº it might be wellºº with them, and with their childrenº for ever!º

 5:30 Go, say to them, Return ye to your houses;

 5:30 Goººº sayºº to them, Getºº you into your tentsº again.ºº

 5:31 but stand thou here with me, and I will tell thee all the commands, and the ordinances, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, and let them do so in the land which I give them for an inheritance.

 5:31 But as for thee,º standºº thou hereº byº me,º and I will speakºº untoº theeº allº the commandments,º and the statutes,º and the judgments,º whichº thou shalt teachºº them, that they may doºº [them] in the landº whichº Iº giveºº them to possessºº it.

 5:32 And ye shall take heed to do as the Lord thy God commanded thee; ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left,

 5:32 Ye shall observeºº to doºº therefore asº Yahwehº your Elohimº hath commandedºº you: ye shall notº turn asideºº to the right handº or to the left.º

 5:33 according to all the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in it, that he may give thee rest; and that it may be well with thee, and ye may prolong your days on the land which ye shall inherit.

 5:33 Ye shall walkººº in allº the waysº whichº Yahwehº your Elohimº hath commandedºº you, thatº ye may live,ºº and [that it may be] wellºº with you, and [that] ye may prolongºº [your] daysº in the landº whichº ye shall possess.ºº
