 3:1 ¶ And we turned and went by the way leading to Bashan{gr.Basan}; and Og the king of Bashan{gr.Basan} came out to meet us, he and all his people, to battle at Edraim.

 3:1 ¶ Then we turned,ºº and went upºº the wayº to Bashan:º and Ogº the kingº of Bashanº came outºº againstºº us, heº and allº his people,º to battleº at Edrei.º

 3:2 And the Lord said to me, Fear him not, for I have delivered him, and all his people, and all his land, into thy hands; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst to Sihon{gr.Seon} king of the Amorites who dwelt in Heshbon{gr.Esebon}.

 3:2 And Yahwehº saidºº untoº me, Fearºº him not:º forº I will deliverºº him, and allº his people,º and his land,º into thy hand;º and thou shalt doºº unto him asº thou didstºº unto Sihonº kingº of the Amorites,º whichº dweltºº at Heshbon.º

 3:3 And the Lord our God delivered him into our hands, even Og the king of Bashan{gr.Basan}, and all his people; and we smote him until we left none of his seed.

 3:3 So Yahwehº our Elohimº deliveredºº into our handsºº Ogº also,º the kingº of Bashan,º and allº his people:º and we smoteºº him untilº noneº was leftºº to him remaining.º

 3:4 And we mastered all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we took not from them; sixty cities, all the country round about Argob, belonging to king Og in Bashan{gr.Basan}:

 3:4 And we tookººº allº his citiesº at thatº time,º there wasº notº a cityº whichº we tookºº notº fromºº them, threescoreº cities,º allº the regionº of Argob,º the kingdomº of Ogº in Bashan.º

 3:5 all strong cities, lofty walls, gates and bars; besides the very many cities of the Perizzites{gr.Pherezites}.

 3:5 Allº theseº citiesº [were] fencedºº with highº walls,º gates,º and bars;º besideº unwalledº townsºº a greatº many.ºº

 3:6 We utterly destroyed [them] as we dealt with Sihon{gr.Seon} the king of Heshbon{gr.Esebon}, so we utterly destroyed every city in order, and the women and the children,

 3:6 And we utterly destroyedºº them, asº we didºº unto Sihonº kingº of Heshbon,º utterly destroyingºº the men,º women,º and children,º of everyº city.º

 3:7 and all the cattle; and we took for a prey to ourselves the spoil of the cities.

 3:7 But allº the cattle,º and the spoilº of the cities,º we took for a preyºº to ourselves.

 3:8 And we took at that time the land out of the hands of the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond Jordan, [extending] from the brook of Arnon even unto Hermon{gr.Aermon}.

 3:8 And we tookºº at thatº timeº outºº of the handºº of the twoº kingsº of the Amoritesºº the landº thatº [was] on this sideº Jordan,º from the riverºº of Arnonº untoº mountº Hermon;º

 3:9 The Zidonians{gr.Phoenicians} call Hermon{gr.Aermon} Sanior, but the Amorite has called it Sanir.

 3:9 ([Which] Hermonº the Sidoniansº callºº Sirion;º and the Amoritesº callºº it Shenir;)º

 3:10 All the cities of Misor, and all Gilead{gr.Galaad}, and all Bashan{gr.Basan} as far as Elcha and Edraim, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan{gr.Basan}.

 3:10 Allº the citiesº of the plain,º and allº Gilead,º and allº Bashan,º untoº Salchahº and Edrei,º citiesº of the kingdomº of Ogº in Bashan.º

 3:11 For only Og the king of Bashan{gr.Basan} was left of the giants{gr.Raphain}: behold, his bed [was] a bed of iron; behold, [it is] in the chief city of the children of Ammon; the length of it [is] nine cubits, and the breadth of it four cubits, according to the cubit of a man.

 3:11 Forº onlyº Ogº kingº of Bashanº remainedºº of the remnantºº of giants;º behold,º his bedsteadº [was] a bedsteadº of iron;º [is] itº notº in Rabbathº of the childrenº of Ammon?º nineº cubitsº [was] the lengthº thereof, and fourº cubitsº the breadthº of it, after the cubitº of a man.º

 3:12 And we inherited that land at that time from Aroer, which is by the border of the torrent Arnon, and half the mount of Gilead{gr.Galaad}; and I gave his cities to Reuben{gr.Ruben} and to Gad.

 3:12 And thisº land,º [which] we possessedºº at thatº time,º from Aroer,ºº whichº [is] byº the riverº Arnon,º and halfº mountº Gilead,º and the citiesº thereof, gaveºº I unto the Reubenitesº and to the Gadites.º

 3:13 And the rest of Gilead{gr.Galaad}, and all Bashan{gr.Basan} the kingdom of Og I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh{gr.Manasse}, and all the country round about Argob, all that Bashan{gr.Basan}; it shall be accounted the land of giants{gr.Raphain}.

 3:13 And the restº of Gilead,º and allº Bashan,º [being] the kingdomº of Og,º gaveºº I unto the halfº tribeº of Manasseh;º allº the regionº of Argob,º with allº Bashan,º whichº was calledºº the landº of giants.º

 3:14 And Jair the son of Manasseh{gr.Manasse} took all the country round about Argob as far as the borders of Gargasi and Machathi: he called them by his name Bashan{gr.Basan} Thavoth Jair until this day.

 3:14 Jairº the sonº of Manassehº tookººº allº the countryº of Argobº untoº the coastsº of Geshuriº and Maachathi;º and calledºº them afterº his own name,ºº Bashanhavothjair,ºº untoº thisº day.º

 3:15 And to Machir I gave Gilead{gr.Galaad}.

 3:15 And I gaveººº Gileadº unto Machir.º

 3:16 And to Reuben{gr.Ruben} and to Gad I gave [the land] under Gilead{gr.Galaad} as far as the brook of Arnon, the border between the brook and as far as Jaboc; the brook [is] the border to the children Ammon{gr.Amman}.

 3:16 And unto the Reubenitesº and unto the Gaditesº I gaveºº fromº Gileadº even untoº the riverº Arnonº halfº the valley,º and the borderº even untoº the riverº Jabbok,º [which is] the borderº of the childrenº of Ammon;º

 3:17 And Araba and Jordan [are] the boundary of Machanareth, even to the sea of Araba, the salt sea under Ashdod{gr.Asedoth} Phasga eastward.

 3:17 The plainº also, and Jordan,º and the coastº [thereof], from Chinnerethºº even untoº the seaº of the plain,º [even] the saltº sea,º underº Ashdothpisgahºººº eastward.º

 3:18 ¶ And I charged you at that time, saying, The Lord your God has given you this land by lot; arm yourselves, every one [that is] powerful, and go before your brethren the children of Israel.

 3:18 ¶ And I commandedºº you at thatº time,º saying,ºº Yahwehº your Elohimº hath givenºº youº thisº landº to possessºº it: ye shall pass overºº armedºº beforeº your brethrenº the childrenº of Israel,º allº [that are] meetº for the war.ººº

 3:19 Only your wives and your children and your cattle (I know that ye have much cattle), let them dwell in your cities which I have given you;

 3:19 Butº your wives,º and your little ones,º and your cattle,º ([for] I knowºº thatº ye have muchº cattle,)º shall abideºº in your citiesº whichº I have givenºº you;

 3:20 until the Lord your God give your brethren rest, as also he has given to you, and they also shall inherit the land, which the Lord our God gives them on the other side of Jordan; then ye shall return, each one to his inheritance which I have given you.

 3:20 Untilºº Yahwehº have given restºº unto your brethren,º as well as unto you, and [until] theyº alsoº possessººº the landº whichº Yahwehº your Elohimº hath givenºº them beyondº Jordan:º and [then] shall ye returnºº every manº unto his possession,º whichº I have givenºº you.

 3:21 ¶ And I commanded Joshua{gr.Jesus} at that time, saying, Your eyes have seen all things, which the Lord our God did to these two kings: so shall the Lord our God do to all the kingdoms against which thou crossest over thither.

 3:21 ¶ And I commandedºº Joshuaº at thatº time,º saying,ºº Thine eyesº have seenººº allº thatº Yahwehº your Elohimº hath doneºº unto theseº twoº kings:º soº shall Yahwehº doºº unto allº the kingdomsº whitherºº thouº passest.ºº

 3:22 Ye shall not be afraid of them, because the Lord our God himself shall fight for you.

 3:22 Ye shall notº fearºº them: forº Yahwehº your Elohimº heº shall fightºº for you.

 3:23 And I besought the Lord at that time, saying,

 3:23 And I besoughtººº Yahwehº at thatº time,º saying,ºº

 3:24 Lord God, thou hast begun to shew to thy servant thy strength, and thy power, and thy mighty hand, and thy high arm: for what God is there in heaven or on the earth, who will do as thou hast done, and according to thy might?

 3:24 O Adonaiº Yahweh,º thouº hast begunºº to shewººº thy servantºº thy greatness,º and thy mightyº hand:º forº whatº Elº [is there] in heavenº or in earth,º thatº can doºº according to thy works,º and according to thy might?º

 3:25 I will therefore go over and see this good land that is beyond Jordan, this good mountain and Antilibanus.

 3:25 I pray thee,º let me go over,ºº and seeººº the goodº landº thatº [is] beyondº Jordan,º thatº goodlyº mountain,º and Lebanon.º

 3:26 And the Lord because of you did not regard me, and hearkened not to me; and the Lord said to me, Let it suffice thee, speak not of this matter to me any more.

 3:26 But Yahwehº was wrothºº with me for your sakes,º and would notº hearººº me: and Yahwehº saidºº untoº me, Let it sufficeº thee; speakºº noº moreººº untoº me of thisº matter.º

 3:27 Go up to the top of the quarried rock, and look with thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold [it] with thine eyes, for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

 3:27 Get thee upºº into the topº of Pisgah,º and lift upºº thine eyesº westward,º and northward,º and southward,º and eastward,º and beholdºº [it] with thine eyes:º forº thou shalt notº go overººº thisº Jordan.º

 3:28 And charge Joshua{gr.Jesus}, and strengthen him, and encourage him; for he shall go before the face of this people, and he shall give them the inheritance of all the land which thou hast seen.

 3:28 But chargeººº Joshua,º and encourageºº him, and strengthenºº him: forº heº shall go overºº beforeº thisº people,º and heº shall cause them to inheritººº the landº whichº thou shalt see.ºº

 3:29 And we abode in the valley near the house of Peor{gr.Phogor}.

 3:29 So we abodeºº in the valleyº over againstº Bethpeor.º
