 29:1 ¶ These [are] the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Mosheh{gr.Moses} to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb{gr.Choreb}.

 29:1 ¶ Theseº [are] the wordsº of the covenant,º whichº Yahwehº commandedººº Mosesº to makeºº withº the childrenº of Israelº in the landº of Moab,º besideºº the covenantº whichº he madeºº withº them in Horeb.º

 29:2 ¶ And Mosheh{gr.Moses} called all the sons of Israel and said to them, Ye have seen all things that the Lord did in the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt} before you to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} and his servants, and all his land;

 29:2 ¶ And Mosesº calledºº untoº allº Israel,º and saidºº untoº them, Yeº have seenººº allº thatº Yahwehº didºº before your eyesº in the landº of Egyptº unto Pharaoh,º and unto allº his servants,º and unto allº his land;º

 29:3 the great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders.

 29:3 The greatº temptationsº whichº thine eyesº have seen,ºº the signs,º and thoseº greatº miracles:º

 29:4 Yet the Lord God has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, until this day.

 29:4 Yet Yahwehº hath notº givenºº you an heartº to perceive,ºº and eyesº to see,ºº and earsº to hear,ºº untoº thisº day.º

 29:5 And he led you forty years in the wilderness; your garments did not grow old, and your sandals were not worn away off your feet.

 29:5 And I have ledººº you fortyº yearsº in the wilderness:º your clothesº are notº waxen oldºº uponºº you, and thy shoeº is notº waxen oldºº uponºº thy foot.º

 29:6 Ye did not eat bread, ye did not drink wine or strong drink, that ye might know that I [am] the Lord your God.

 29:6 Ye have notº eatenºº bread,º neitherº have ye drunkºº wineº or strong drink:º thatº ye might knowºº thatº Iº [am] Yahwehº your Elohim.º

 29:7 And ye came as far as this place; and there came forth Sihon{gr.Seon} king of Heshbon{gr.Esebon}, and Og king of Bashan{gr.Basan}, to meet us in war.

 29:7 And when ye cameºº untoº thisº place,º Sihonº the kingº of Heshbon,º and Ogº the kingº of Bashan,º came outºº againstºº us unto battle,º and we smoteºº them:

 29:8 And we smote them and took their land, and I gave it for an inheritance to Reuben{gr.Ruben} and Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh{gr.Manasse}.

 29:8 And we tookººº their land,º and gaveºº it for an inheritanceº unto the Reubenites,º and to the Gadites,º and to the halfº tribeº of Manasseh.º

 29:9 And ye shall take heed to do all the words of this covenant, that ye may understand all things that ye shall do.

 29:9 Keepºº thereforeº the wordsº of thisº covenant,º and doºº them, thatº ye may prosperººº in allº thatº ye do.ºº

 29:10 ¶ Ye all stand to-day before the Lord your God, the heads of your tribes, and your elders, and your judges, and your officers, every man of Israel,

 29:10 ¶ Yeº standºº this dayº allº of you beforeº Yahwehº your Elohim;º your captainsº of your tribes,º your elders,º and your officers,ºº [with] allº the menº of Israel,º

 29:11 your wives, and your children, and the stranger who is in the midst of your camp, from your hewer of wood even to your drawer of water,

 29:11 Your little ones,º your wives,º and thy strangerº thatº [is] inº thy camp,º from the hewerººº of thy woodº untoº the drawerºº of thy water:º

 29:12 that thou shouldest enter into the covenant of the Lord thy God and into his oaths, as many as the Lord thy God appoints thee this day;

 29:12 That thou shouldest enterºº into covenantº with Yahwehº thy Elohim,º and into his oath,º whichº Yahwehº thy Elohimº makethºº withº thee this day:º

 29:13 that he may appoint thee to himself for a people, and he shall be thy God, as he said to thee, and as he sware to thy fathers, Abraham{gr.Abraam}, and Isaac, and Jacob.

 29:13 Thatº he may establishºº thee to dayº for a peopleº unto himself, and [that] heº may beº unto thee an Elohim,º asº he hath saidºº unto thee, and asº he hath swornºº unto thy fathers,º to Abraham,º to Isaac,º and to Jacob.º

 29:14 And I do not appoint to you alone this covenant and this oath;

 29:14 Neitherº withº you onlyº do Iº makeººº thisº covenantº and thisº oath;º

 29:15 but to those also who are here with you to-day before the Lord your God, and to those who are not here with you to-day.

 29:15 Butº withº [him] thatº standethºº hereº withº us thisº dayº beforeº Yahwehº our Elohim,º and also withº [him] thatº [is] notº hereº withº us this day:º

 29:16 For ye know how we dwelt in the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, how we came through the midst of the nations through whom ye came.

 29:16 (Forº yeº knowººº howº we have dweltºº in the landº of Egypt;º and howº we cameºº throughº the nationsº whichº ye passed by;ºº

 29:17 And ye beheld their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which are among them.

 29:17 And ye have seenººº their abominations,º and their idols,º woodº and stone,º silverº and gold,º whichº [were] amongº them:)

 29:18 Lest there be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart has turned aside from the Lord your God, having gone to serve the gods of these nations; lest there be in you a root springing up with gall and bitterness.

 29:18 Lestº there should beº among you man,º orº woman,º orº family,º orº tribe,º whoseº heartº turneth awayºº this dayº fromºº Yahwehº our Elohim,º to goººº [and] serveººº the elohimº of theseº nations;º lestº there should beº among you a rootº that bearethºº gallº and wormwood;º

 29:19 And it shall be if one shall hear the words of this curse, and shall flatter himself in his heart, saying, Let good happen to me, for I will walk in the error of my heart, lest the sinner destroy the guiltless with [him]:

 29:19 And it come to pass,º when he hearethººº the wordsº of thisº curse,º that he blessºº himselfº in his heart,º saying,ºº I shall haveº peace,º thoughº I walkººº in the imaginationº of mine heart,º toº addºº drunkennessº toº thirst:º

 29:20 God shall by no means be willing to pardon him, but then the wrath of the Lord and his jealousy shall flame out against that man; and all the curses of this covenant shall attach themselves to him, which are written in this book, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.

 29:20 Yahwehº willºº notº spareºº him, butº thenº the angerº of Yahwehº and his jealousyº shall smokeºº against thatº man,º and allº the cursesº that are writtenºº in thisº bookº shall lieºº upon him, and Yahwehº shall blot outººº his nameº from underºº heaven.º

 29:21 And the Lord shall separate that man for evil of all the children of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in the book of this law.

 29:21 And Yahwehº shall separateºº him unto evilº out of allºº the tribesº of Israel,º according to allº the cursesº of the covenantº that are writtenºº in thisº bookº of the law:º

 29:22 And another generation shall say-- even your sons who shall rise up after you, and the stranger who shall come from a land afar off, and shall see the plagues of that land and their diseases, which the Lord has sent upon it,

 29:22 So that the generationº to comeº of your childrenº thatº shall rise upºº afterºº you, and the strangerº thatº shall comeºº from a farº land,ºº shall say,ºº when they seeººº the plaguesº of thatº land,º and the sicknessesº whichº Yahwehº hath laidºº upon it;

 29:23 brimstone and burning salt, (the whole land shall not be sown, neither shall any green thing spring, nor rise upon it, as Sodom and Gomorrah{gr.Gomorrha} were overthrown, Adama and Seboim, which the Lord overthrew in his wrath and anger:)--

 29:23 [And that] the wholeº landº thereof [is] brimstone,º and salt,º [and] burning,º [that] it is notº sown,ºº norº beareth,ºº norº anyº grassº growethºº therein, like the overthrowº of Sodom,º and Gomorrah,º Admah,º and Zeboim,º whichº Yahwehº overthrewºº in his anger,º and in his wrath:º

 29:24 and all the nations shall say, Why has the Lord done thus to this land? what [is] this great fierceness of anger?

 29:24 Even allº nationsº shall say,ºº Whereforeºº hath Yahwehº doneºº thusº unto thisº land?º whatº [meaneth] the heatº of thisº greatº anger?º

 29:25 And [men] shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, the things which he appointed to their fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}:

 29:25 Then men shall say,ºº Becauseºº they have forsakenººº the covenantº of Yahwehº Elohimº of their fathers,º whichº he madeºº withº them when he brought them forthººº out of the landºº of Egypt:º

 29:26 and they went and served other gods, which they knew not, neither did he assign [them] to them.

 29:26 For they wentººº and servedºº otherº elohim,º and worshippedºº them, elohimº whomº they knewºº not,º and [whom] he had notº givenºº unto them:

 29:27 And the Lord was exceedingly angry with that land to bring upon it according to all the curses which are written in the book of this law.

 29:27 And the angerº of Yahwehº was kindledºº against thisº land,º to bringºº uponº itº allº the cursesº that are writtenºº in thisº book:º

 29:28 And the Lord removed them from their land in anger, and wrath, and very great indignation, and cast them out into another land as at present.

 29:28 And Yahwehº rootedºº them outº ofºº their landº in anger,º and in wrath,º and in greatº indignation,º and castºº them intoº anotherº land,º as [it is] thisº day.º

 29:29 The secret things [belong] to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed [belong] to us and to our children for ever, to do all the words of this law.

 29:29 The secretºº [things belong] unto Yahwehº our Elohim:º but those [things which are] revealedºº [belong] unto us and to our childrenº forº ever,ºº that [we] may doººº allº the wordsº of thisº law.º
