 32:1 ¶ And the children of Reuben{gr.Ruben} and the children of Gad had a multitude of cattle, very great; and they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead{gr.Galaad}; and the place was a place for cattle:

 32:1 ¶ Now the childrenº of Reubenº and the childrenº of Gadº hadº a veryº greatº multitudeº of cattle:º and when they sawººº the landº of Jazer,º and the landº of Gilead,º that, behold,º the placeº [was] a placeº for cattle;º

 32:2 and the children of Reuben{gr.Ruben} and the children of Gad came, and spoke to Mosheh{gr.Moses}, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,

 32:2 The childrenº of Gadº and the childrenº of Reubenº cameºº and spakeºº untoº Moses,º and toº Eleazarº the priest,º and untoº the princesº of the congregation,º saying,ºº

 32:3 Ataroth, and Dibon{gr.Daebon}, and Jazer, and Namra, and Heshbon{gr.Esebon}, and Eleale, and Sebama, and Nebo{gr.Nabau}, and Baean,

 32:3 Ataroth,º and Dibon,º and Jazer,º and Nimrah,º and Heshbon,º and Elealeh,º and Shebam,º and Nebo,º and Beon,º

 32:4 the land which the Lord has delivered up before the children of Israel, is pasture land, and thy servants have cattle.

 32:4 [Even] the countryº whichº Yahwehº smoteºº beforeº the congregationº of Israel,º [is] a landº for cattle,º and thy servantsº have cattle:º

 32:5 And they said, If we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given to thy servants for a possession, and do not cause us to pass over Jordan.

 32:5 Wherefore, saidºº they, ifº we have foundºº graceº in thy sight,º letº thisº landº be givenºº unto thy servantsº for a possession,º [and] bring us not overºººº Jordan.º

 32:6 ¶ And Mosheh{gr.Moses} said to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben{gr.Ruben}, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?

 32:6 ¶ And Mosesº saidºº unto the childrenº of Gadº and to the childrenº of Reuben,º Shall your brethrenº goºº to war,º and shall yeº sitºº here?º

 32:7 And why do ye pervert the minds of the children of Israel, that they should not cross over into the land, which the Lord gives them?

 32:7 And whereforeº discourageº yeººººº the heartº of the childrenº of Israelº from going overººº intoº the landº whichº Yahwehº hath givenºº them?

 32:8 Did not your fathers thus, when I sent them from Kadesh{gr.Cades} Barnea{gr.Barne} to spy out the land?

 32:8 Thusº didºº your fathers,º when I sentºº them from Kadeshbarneaºº to seeººº the land.º

 32:9 And they went up to the valley of the cluster, and spied the land, and turned aside the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land, which the Lord gave them.

 32:9 For when they went upºº untoº the valleyº of Eshcol,º and sawººº the land,º they discouragedººº the heartº of the childrenº of Israel,º that they should notº goºº intoº the landº whichº Yahwehº had givenºº them.

 32:10 And the Lord was very angry in that day, and sware, saying,

 32:10 And Yahweh'sº angerº was kindledºº the sameº time,º and he sware,ºº saying,ºº

 32:11 Surely these men who came up out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt} from twenty years old and upward, who know good and evil, shall not see the land which I sware [to give] to Abraham{gr.Abraam} and Isaac and Jacob, for they have not closely followed after me:

 32:11 Surelyº none of the menºº that came upºº out of Egypt,ºº from twentyº yearsº oldºº and upward,º shall seeººº the landº whichº I swareºº unto Abraham,º unto Isaac,º and unto Jacob;º becauseº they have notº whollyºº followedº me:

 32:12 save Caleb the son of Jephunneh{gr.Jephonne}, who was set apart, and Joshua{gr.Jesus} the son of Nun{gr.Naue}, for they closely followed after the Lord.

 32:12 Saveº Calebº the sonº of Jephunnehº the Kenezite,º and Joshuaº the sonº of Nun:º forº they have whollyºº followedº Yahweh.º

 32:13 And the Lord was very angry with Israel; and for forty years he caused them to wander in the wilderness, until all the generation which did evil in the sight of the Lord was extinct.

 32:13 And Yahweh'sº angerº was kindledºº against Israel,º and he made them wanderºº in the wildernessº fortyº years,º untilº allº the generation,º that had doneºº evilº in the sightº of Yahweh,º was consumed.ºº

 32:14 Behold, ye are risen up in the room of your fathers, a combination of sinful men, to increase yet farther the fierce wrath of the Lord against Israel.

 32:14 And, behold,º ye are risen upºº in your fathers'º stead,ºº an increaseº of sinfulº men,ºº to augmentººº yetº the fierceº angerº of Yahwehº towardº Israel.º

 32:15 For ye will turn away from him to desert him yet once more in the wilderness, and ye will sin against this whole congregation.

 32:15 Forº if ye turn awayºº from afterºº him, he will yetº againºº leaveººº them in the wilderness;º and ye shall destroyºº allº thisº people.º

 32:16 ¶ And they came to him, and said, We will build here folds for our cattle, and cities for our possessions;

 32:16 ¶ And they came nearºº untoº him, and said,ºº We will buildºº sheepfoldsººº hereº for our cattle,º and citiesº for our little ones:º

 32:17 and we will arm ourselves and go as an advanced guard before the children of Israel, until we shall have brought them into their place; and our possessions shall remain in walled cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

 32:17 But weº ourselvesº will go readyºº armedººº beforeº the childrenº of Israel,º untilººº we have broughtºº them untoº their place:º and our little onesº shall dwellºº in the fencedº citiesº becauseºº of the inhabitantsºº of the land.º

 32:18 We will not return to our houses till the children of Israel shall have been distributed, each to his own inheritance.

 32:18 We will notº returnºº untoº our houses,º untilº the childrenº of Israelº have inheritedºº every manº his inheritance.º

 32:19 And we will not any longer inherit with them from the other side of Jordan and onwards, because we have our full inheritance on the side beyond Jordan eastward.

 32:19 Forº we will notº inheritºº withº them on yonder sideºº Jordan,º or forward;º becauseº our inheritanceº is fallenºº toº us on this sideºº Jordanº eastward.º

 32:20 ¶ And Mosheh{gr.Moses} said to them, If ye will do according to these words, if ye will arm yourselves before the Lord for battle,

 32:20 ¶ And Mosesº saidºº untoº them, Ifº ye will doººº thisº thing,º ifº ye will go armedºº beforeº Yahwehº to war,º

 32:21 and every one of you will pass over Jordan fully armed before the Lord, until his enemy be destroyed from before his face,

 32:21 And will goºº allº of you armedºº overººº Jordanº beforeº Yahweh,º untilº he hath driven outººº his enemiesºº from beforeºº him,

 32:22 and the land shall be subdued before the Lord, then afterwards ye shall return, and be guiltless before the Lord, and as regards Israel; and this land shall be to you for a possession before the Lord.

 32:22 And the landº be subduedºº beforeº Yahweh:º then afterwardº ye shall return,ºº and beº guiltlessº before Yahweh,ºº and before Israel;ºº and thisº landº shall beº your possessionº beforeº Yahweh.º

 32:23 But if ye will not do so, ye will sin against the Lord; and ye shall know your sin, when afflictions shall come upon you.

 32:23 But ifº ye will notº doº so,ººº behold,º ye have sinnedºº against Yahweh:º and be sureºº your sinº will find you out.ººº

 32:24 And ye shall build for yourselves cities for your store, and folds for your cattle; and ye shall do that which proceeds out of your mouth.

 32:24 Buildºº you citiesº for your little ones,º and foldsº for your sheep;º and doºº that which hath proceededºº outº of your mouth.ºº

 32:25 And the sons of Reuben{gr.Ruben} and the sons of Gad spoke to Mosheh{gr.Moses}, saying, Thy servants will do as our lord commands.

 32:25 And the childrenº of Gadº and the childrenº of Reubenº spakeºº untoº Moses,º saying,ºº Thy servantsº will doºº asº my adonº commandeth.ºº

 32:26 Our store, and our wives, and all our cattle shall be in the cities of Gilead{gr.Galaad}.

 32:26 Our little ones,º our wives,º our flocks,º and allº our cattle,º shall beº thereº in the citiesº of Gilead:º

 32:27 But thy servants will go over all armed and set in order before the Lord to battle, as [our] lord says.

 32:27 But thy servantsº will pass over,ºº every manº armedºº for war,º beforeº Yahwehº to battle,º asº my adonº saith.ºº

 32:28 And Mosheh{gr.Moses} appointed to them [for judges] Eleazar the priest, and Joshua{gr.Jesus} the son of Nun{gr.Naue}, and the chiefs of the families of the tribes of Israel.

 32:28 So concerning them Mosesº commandedººº Eleazarº the priest,º and Joshuaº the sonº of Nun,º and the chiefº fathersº of the tribesº of the childrenº of Israel:º

 32:29 And Mosheh{gr.Moses} said to them, If the sons of Reuben{gr.Ruben} and the sons of Gad will pass over Jordan with you, every one armed for war before the Lord, and ye shall subdue the land before you, then ye shall give to them the land of Gilead{gr.Galaad} for a possession.

 32:29 And Mosesº saidºº untoº them, Ifº the childrenº of Gadº and the childrenº of Reubenº will pass with you overºººº Jordan,º every manº armedºº to battle,º beforeº Yahweh,º and the landº shall be subduedºº beforeº you; then ye shall giveºº themº the landº of Gileadº for a possession:º

 32:30 But if they will not pass over armed with you to war before the Lord, then shall ye cause to pass over their possessions and their wives and their cattle before you into the land of Canaan{gr.Chanaan}, and they shall inherit with you in the land of Canaan{gr.Chanaan}.

 32:30 But ifº they will notº pass overºº withº you armed,ºº they shall have possessionsºº amongº you in the landº of Canaan.º

 32:31 And the sons of Reuben{gr.Ruben} and the sons of Gad answered, saying, Whatsoever the Lord says to his servants, that will we do.

 32:31 And the childrenº of Gadº and the childrenº of Reubenº answered,ºº saying,ººº Asº Yahwehº hath saidºº untoº thy servants,º soº will we do.ºº

 32:32 We will go over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan{gr.Chanaan}, and ye shall give us our inheritance beyond Jordan.

 32:32 Weº willº pass overºº armedºº beforeº Yahwehº into the landº of Canaan,º that the possessionº of our inheritanceº on this sideºº Jordanº [may be] ours.

 32:33 And Mosheh{gr.Moses} gave to them, even to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben{gr.Ruben}, and to the half tribe of Manasseh{gr.Manasse} of the sons of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon{gr.Seon} king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan{gr.Basan}, the land and its cities with its coasts, the cities of the land round about.

 32:33 And Mosesº gaveºº unto them, [even] to the childrenº of Gad,º and to the childrenº of Reuben,º and unto halfº the tribeº of Manassehº the sonº of Joseph,ºº the kingdomº of Sihonº kingº of the Amorites,º and the kingdomº of Ogº kingº of Bashan,º the land,º with the citiesº thereof in the coasts,º [even] the citiesº of the countryº round about.º

 32:34 ¶ And the sons of Gad built Dibon{gr.Daebon}, and Ataroth, and Aroer,

 32:34 ¶ And the childrenº of Gadº builtººº Dibon,º and Ataroth,º and Aroer,º

 32:35 and Sophar, and Jazer, and they set them up,

 32:35 And Atroth,º Shophan,º and Jaazer,º and Jogbehah,º

 32:36 and Namram, and Baetharan, strong cities, and folds for sheep.

 32:36 And Bethnimrah,º and Bethharan,º fencedº cities:º and foldsº for sheep.º

 32:37 And the sons of Reuben{gr.Ruben} built Heshbon{gr.Esebon}, and Eleale, and Kariatham,

 32:37 And the childrenº of Reubenº builtººº Heshbon,º and Elealeh,º and Kirjathaim,º

 32:38 and Beelmeon, surrounded [with walls], and Sebama; and they called the names of the cities which they built, after their own names.

 32:38 And Nebo,º and Baalmeon,º (their namesº being changed,)ººº andº Shibmah:º and gaveºº other namesººº unto the citiesº whichº they builded.ºº

 32:39 And a son of Machir the son of Manasseh{gr.Manasse} went to Gilead{gr.Galaad}, and took it, and destroyed the Amorite who dwelt in it.

 32:39 And the childrenº of Machirº the sonº of Manassehº wentººº to Gilead,º and tookºº it, and dispossessedººº the Amoriteº whichº [was] in it.

 32:40 And Mosheh{gr.Moses} gave Gilead{gr.Galaad} to Machir the son of Manasseh{gr.Manasse}, and he dwelt there.

 32:40 And Mosesº gaveººº Gileadº unto Machirº the sonº of Manasseh;º and he dweltºº therein.

 32:41 And Jair the [son] of Manasseh{gr.Manasse} went and took their villages, and called them the villages of Jair.

 32:41 And Jairº the sonº of Manassehº wentºº and tookººº the small townsº thereof, and calledºº them Havothjair.º

 32:42 And Nebo{gr.Nabau} went and took Kohath{gr.Caath} and her villages, and called them Naboth after his name.

 32:42 And Nobahº wentºº and tookººº Kenath,º and the villagesº thereof, and calledºº it Nobah,º after his own name.º
