 37:1 ¶ And the hand of the Lord came upon me, and the Lord brought me forth by the Spirit, and set me in the midst of the plain, and it was full of human bones.

 37:1 ¶ The handº of Yahwehº wasº uponº me, and carried me outºº in the spiritº of Yahweh,º and set me downºº in the midstº of the valleyº whichº [was] fullº of bones,º

 37:2 And he led me round about them every way: and, behold, [there were] very many on the face of the plain, very dry.

 37:2 And caused me to passºº byº them round about:º and, behold,º [there were] veryº manyº inº the openº valley;º and, lo,º [they were] veryº dry.º

 37:3 And he said to me, Son of man, will these bones live? and I said, O Lord God, thou knowest this.

 37:3 And he saidºº untoº me, Sonº of man,º can theseº bonesº live?ºº And I answered,ºº O Adonaiº Yahweh,º thouº knowest.ºº

 37:4 And he said to me, Prophesy upon these bones, and thou shalt say to them, Ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

 37:4 Again he saidºº untoº me, Prophesyºº uponº theseº bones,º and sayºº untoº them, O ye dryº bones,º hearºº the wordº of Yahweh.º

 37:5 Thus saith the Lord to these bones; Behold, I [will] bring upon you the breath of life:

 37:5 Thusº saithºº Adonaiº Yahwehº unto theseº bones;º Behold,º Iº will cause breathº to enterºº into you, and ye shall live:ºº

 37:6 and I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and will spread skin upon you, and will put my Spirit into you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

 37:6 And I will layºº sinewsº uponº you, and will bring upºº fleshº uponº you, and coverººº you with skin,º and putºº breathº in you, and ye shall live;ºº and ye shall knowºº thatº Iº [am] Yahweh.º

 37:7 So I prophesied as [the Lord] commanded me: and it came to pass while I was prophesying, that, behold, [there was] a shaking, and the bones approached each one to his joint.

 37:7 So I prophesiedºº asº I was commanded:ºº and as I prophesied,ºº there wasº a noise,º and beholdº a shaking,º and the bonesº came together,ºº boneº toº his bone.º

 37:8 And I looked, and behold, sinews and flesh grew upon them, and skin came upon them above: but there was not breath in them.

 37:8 And when I beheld,ºº lo,º the sinewsº and the fleshº came upºº uponº them, and the skinº coveredººº them above:º but [there was] noº breathº in them.

 37:9 And he said to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord; Come from the four winds, and breathe upon these dead [men], and let them live.

 37:9 Then saidºº he untoº me, Prophesyºº untoº the wind,º prophesy,ºº sonº of man,º and sayºº toº the wind,º Thusº saithºº Adonaiº Yahweh;º Comeºº from the fourºº winds,º O breath,º and breatheºº upon theseº slain,ºº that they may live.ºº

 37:10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath entered into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, a very great congregation.

 37:10 So I prophesiedºº asº he commandedºº me, and the breathº cameºº into them, and they lived,ºº and stood upºº uponº their feet,º an exceedingº greatº army.º

 37:11 ¶ And the Lord spoke to me, saying, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: and they say, Our bones are become dry, our hope has perished, we are quite spent.

 37:11 ¶ Then he saidºº untoº me, Sonº of man,º theseº bonesº are the wholeº houseº of Israel:º behold,º they say,ºº Our bonesº are dried,ºº and our hopeº is lost:ºº we are cut offºº for our parts.

 37:12 Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I [will] open your tombs, and will bring you up out of your tombs, and will bring you into the land of Israel.

 37:12 Thereforeº prophesyºº and sayºº untoº them, Thusº saithºº Adonaiº Yahweh;º Behold,º O my people,º Iº will openººº your graves,º and cause you to come upºº out of your graves,ºº and bringºº you intoº the landº of Israel.º

 37:13 And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, that I may bring up my people from [their] graves.

 37:13 And ye shall knowºº thatº Iº [am] Yahweh,º when I have openedººº your graves,º O my people,º and brought you upººº out of your graves,ºº

 37:14 And I will put my Spirit within you, and ye shall live, and I will place you upon your own land: and ye shall know that I [am] the Lord; I have spoken, and will do [it], saith the Lord.

 37:14 And shall putºº my spiritº in you, and ye shall live,ºº and I shall placeººº you inº your own land:º then shall ye knowºº thatº Iº Yahwehº have spokenºº [it], and performedºº [it], saithºº Yahweh.º

 37:15 ¶ And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

 37:15 ¶ The wordº of Yahwehº cameº again untoº me, saying,ºº

 37:16 Son of man, take for thyself a rod, and write upon it, Judah{gr.Juda}, and the children of Israel his adherents; and thou shalt take for thyself another rod, and thou shalt inscribe it for Joseph, the rod of Ephraim, and all the children of Israel that belong to him.

 37:16 Moreover, thouº sonº of man,º takeºº thee oneº stick,º and writeºº uponº it, For Judah,º and for the childrenº of Israelº his companions:º then takeºº anotherº stick,º and writeºº uponº it, For Joseph,º the stickº of Ephraim,º and [for] allº the houseº of Israelº his companions:º

 37:17 And thou shalt joint them together for thyself, so as that they should bind themselves into one stick; and they shall be in thine hand.

 37:17 And joinºº them oneº toº anotherº into oneº stick;º and they shall becomeº oneº in thine hand.º

 37:18 ¶ And it shall come to pass, when the children of thy people shall say to thee, Wilt thou not tell us what thou meanest by these things?

 37:18 ¶ And whenº the childrenº of thy peopleº shall speakºº untoº thee, saying,ºº Wilt thou notº shewºº us whatº thou [meanest] by these?º

 37:19 Then shalt thou say to them, Thus saith the Lord; behold, I will take the tribe of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel that belong to him, and I will add them to the tribe of Judah{gr.Juda}, and they shall become one rod in the hand of Judah{gr.Juda}.

 37:19 Sayºº untoº them, Thusº saithºº Adonaiº Yahweh;º Behold,º Iº will takeººº the stickº of Joseph,º whichº [is] in the handº of Ephraim,º and the tribesº of Israelº his fellows,º and will putºº them withº him, [even] withº the stickº of Judah,º and makeºº them oneº stick,º and they shall beº oneº in mine hand.º

 37:20 ¶ And the rods on which thou didst write shall be in thine hand in their presence.

 37:20 ¶ And the sticksº whereonºº thou writestºº shall beº in thine handº before their eyes.º

 37:21 And thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I [will] take the whole house of Israel out of the midst of the nations, among whom they have gone, and I will gather them from all that are round about them, and I will bring them into the land of Israel.

 37:21 And sayºº untoº them, Thusº saithºº Adonaiº Yahweh;º Behold,º Iº will takeººº the childrenº of Israelº from amongºº the heathen,º whitherºº they be gone,ºº and will gatherºº them on every side,ºº and bringºº them intoº their own land:º

 37:22 And I will make them a nation in my land, even on the mountains of Israel; and they shall have one prince: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided any more at all into two kingdoms:

 37:22 And I will makeºº them oneº nationº in the landº upon the mountainsº of Israel;º and oneº kingº shall beº kingº to them all:º and they shall beºº noº moreº twoº nations,º neitherº shall they be dividedºº into twoº kingdomsº any more at all:º

 37:23 that they may no more defile themselves with their idols; and I will deliver them from all their transgressions whereby they have sinned, and will cleanse them; and they shall be to me a people, and I the Lord will be to them a God.

 37:23 Neitherº shall they defileºº themselves any moreº with their idols,º nor with their detestable things,º nor with anyº of their transgressions:º but I will saveºº them out of allºº their dwellingplaces,º whereinº they have sinned,ºº and will cleanseºº them: so shall they beº my people,º and Iº will beº their Elohim.º

 37:24 And my servant David [shall be] a prince in the midst of them: there shall be one shepherd of [them] all; for they shall walk in mine ordinances, and keep my judgments, and do them.

 37:24 And Davidº my servantº [shall be] kingº overº them; and they allº shall haveº oneº shepherd:ºº they shall also walkººº in my judgments,º and observeºº my statutes,º and doºº them.

 37:25 And they shall dwell in their land, which I have given to my servant Jacob, where their fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell upon it: and David my servant [shall be their] prince forever.

 37:25 And they shall dwellºº inº the landº thatº I have givenºº unto Jacobº my servant,º whereinº your fathersº have dwelt;ºº and they shall dwellºº therein,º [even] they,º and their children,º and their children'sº childrenº for ever:º and my servantº Davidº [shall be] their princeº forº ever.º

 37:26 And I will make with them a covenant of peace; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will establish my sanctuary in the midst of them for ever.

 37:26 Moreover I will makeºº a covenantº of peaceº with them; it shall beº an everlastingº covenantº withº them: and I will placeºº them, and multiplyºº them, and will setºº my sanctuaryº in the midstº of them for evermore.º

 37:27 And my tabernacle shall be among them; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be my people.

 37:27 My tabernacleº also shall beº withº them: yea, I will beº their Elohim,º and theyº shall beº my people.º

 37:28 And the nations shall know that I am the Lord that sanctifies them, when my sanctuary is in the midst of them for ever.

 37:28 And the heathenº shall knowºº thatº Iº Yahwehº do sanctifyººº Israel,º when my sanctuaryº shall beº in the midstº of them for evermore.º
