And Yahweh spake unto Mosheh, saying, |

the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
that they turnºº
and encampºº
beforeº
Pî Haçîrö±
פִּי־הַחִירֹת,º
betweenº
Miqdôl
מִגדּוֹלº
and the sea,º
over againstº
Ba`al Xæfön
בַּעַל־צְפֹן:º
beforeº
it shall ye encampºº
byº
the sea.º |

14:2
Speak unto the children of Yisrael, that they turn and encamp before Pi-Hachiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-Tzefon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. |
|
14:3
For
Par`ò
פַּרעֹהº
will sayºº
of the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
Theyº
[are] entangledºº
in the land,º
the wildernessº
hath shut them in.ººº |
|
14:3
For Paroh will say of the children of Yisrael, They [are] entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. |
|
14:4
And I will hardenººº
Par`ò's
פַּרעֹהº
heart,º
that he shall followºº
afterº
them; and I will be honouredºº
upon
Par`ò
פַּרעֹה,º
and upon allº
his host;º
that the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
may knowºº
thatº
Iº
[am]
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.º
And they didºº
so.º |

14:4
And I will harden Paroh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Paroh, and upon all his host; that the Mitzrim may know that I [am] Yahweh. And they did so. |
|
14:5 ¶
And it was toldºº
the kingº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִםº
thatº
the peopleº
fled:ºº
and the heartº
of
Par`ò
פַּרעֹהº
and of his servantsº
was turnedºº
againstº
the people,º
and they said,ºº
Whyº
have we doneºº
this,º
thatº
we have letº
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
goºº
from servingººº
us? |

14:5 ¶
And it was told the king of Mitzrayim that the people fled: and the heart of Paroh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Yisrael go from serving us? |
|
14:6
And he made readyººº
his chariot,º
and tookºº
his peopleº
withº
him: |
|
14:6
And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: |
|
14:7
And he tookºº
sixº
hundredº
chosenºº
chariots,º
and allº
the chariotsº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם,º
and captainsº
overº
every oneº
of them. |
|
14:7
And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Mitzrayim, and captains over every one of them. |
|
14:8
And

hardenedººº
the heartº

פַּרעֹהº
kingº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם,º
and he pursuedºº
afterº
the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל:º
and the childrenº

Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
went outºº
with an highºº
hand.º |

And Yahweh hardened the heart of Paroh king of Mitzrayim, and he pursued after the children of Yisrael: and the children of Yisrael went out with an high hand. |
|
14:9
But the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
pursuedºº
afterº
them, allº
the horsesº
[and] chariotsº
of
Par`ò
פַּרעֹה,º
and his horsemen,º
and his army,º
and overtookºº
them encampingºº
byº
the sea,º
besideº
Pî Haçîrö±
פִּי־הַחִירֹת,º
beforeº
Ba`al Xæfön
בַּעַל־צְפֹן.º |

14:9
But the Mitzrim pursued after them, all the horses [and] chariots of Paroh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-Hachiroth, before Baal-Tzefon. |
|
14:10 ¶
And when
Par`ò
פַּרעֹהº
drew nigh,ºº
the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
lifted upººº
their eyes,º
and, behold,º
the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
marchedºº
afterº
them; and they were soreº
afraid:ºº
and the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
cried outºº
untoº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.º |

14:10 ¶
And when Paroh drew nigh, the children of Yisrael lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Mitzrim marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Yisrael cried out unto Yahweh. |
|
14:11
And they saidºº
untoº

מֹשֶׁה,º
Becauseºº
[there were] noº
gravesº
in
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם,º
hast thou taken us awayºº
to dieºº
in the wilderness?º
whereforeºº
hast thou dealtºº
thusº
with us, to carry us forthºº
out of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם?ºº |

14:11
And they said unto Mosheh, Because [there were] no graves in Mitzrayim, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Mitzrayim? |
|
14:12
[Is] notº
thisº
the wordº
thatº
we did tellººº
thee in
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם,º
saying,ºº
Let us alone,ººº
that we may serveººº
the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים?º
Forº
[it had been] betterº
for us to serveººº
the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים,º
than that we should dieººº
in the wilderness.º |

14:12
[Is] not this the word that we did tell thee in Mitzrayim, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Mitzrim? For [it had been] better for us to serve the Mitzrim, than that we should die in the wilderness. |
|
14:13 ¶
And

14:13 ¶
And Mosheh said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will shew to you to day: for the Mitzrim whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. |

Yahweh shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. |

14:15 ¶

Whereforeº

thou untoº
me? speakºº

the childrenº

Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
that they go forward:ºº |

14:15 ¶
And Yahweh said unto Mosheh, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Yisrael, that they go forward: |

14:16
But lift thou upºººº
thy rod,º
and stretch outººº
thine handº
overº
the sea,º
and divideºº
it: and the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
shall goºº
on dryº
[ground] through the midstº
of the sea.º |
|
14:16
But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Yisrael shall go on dry [ground] through the midst of the sea. |
|
14:17
And I,º
behold,º
I will hardenººº
the heartsº
of the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים,º
and they shall followººº
them:º
and I will get me honourºº
upon
Par`ò
פַּרעֹה,º
and upon allº
his host,º
upon his chariots,º
and upon his horsemen.º |

And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Mitzrim, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Paroh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. |
|
14:18
And the
Mixrîm

shall knowºº
thatº
Iº
[am]
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
when I have gotten me honourºº
upon
Par`ò
פַּרעֹה,º
upon his chariots,º
and upon his horsemen.º |

14:18
And the Mitzrim shall know that I [am] Yahweh, when I have gotten me honour upon Paroh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. |
|
14:19 ¶
And the angelº
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
which wentºº
beforeº
the campº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
removedºº
and wentººº
behindºº
them; and the pillarº
of the cloudº
wentºº
from before their face,ºº
and stoodºº
behindºº
them: |

14:19 ¶
And the angel of Elohim, which went before the camp of Yisrael, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: |
|
14:20
And it cameºº
betweenº
the campº
of the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
and the campº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;º
and it wasº
a cloudº
and darknessº
[to them], but it gave lightººº
by nightº
[to these]: so that the oneº
came not nearººº
the otherº
allº
the night.º |

14:20
And it came between the camp of the Mitzrim and the camp of Yisrael; and it was a cloud and darkness [to them], but it gave light by night [to these]: so that the one came not near the other all the night. |
|
14:21
And

the sea;º
and

יָהוֶהº
causedº
the seaº
to goººº
[back] by a strongº
eastº
windº
allº
that night,º
and madeººº
the seaº
dryº
[land], and the watersº
were divided.ºº |

And Mosheh stretched out his hand over the sea; and Yahweh caused the sea to go [back] by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry [land], and the waters were divided. |
|
14:22
And the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
wentºº
into the midstº
of the seaº
upon the dryº
[ground]: and the watersº
[were] a wallº
unto them on their right hand,ºº
and on their left.ºº |
|
14:22
And the children of Yisrael went into the midst of the sea upon the dry [ground]: and the waters [were] a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. |
|
14:23 ¶
And the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
pursued,ºº
and went inºº
afterº
them toº
the midstº
of the sea,º
[even] allº
Par`ò's
פַּרעֹהº
horses,º
his chariots,º
and his horsemen.º |
|
14:23 ¶
And the Mitzrim pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, [even] all Paroh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. |
|
14:24
And it came to pass,º
that in the morningº
watchº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
lookedºº
untoº
the hostº
of the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
through the pillarº
of fireº
and of the cloud,º
and troubledººº
the hostº
of the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים,º |

14:24
And it came to pass, that in the morning watch Yahweh looked unto the host of the Mitzrim through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Mitzrim, |
|
14:25
And took offººº
their chariotº
wheels,º
that they draveºº
them heavily:º
so that the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
said,ºº
Let us fleeºº
from the faceºº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;º
forº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
fightethºº
for them against the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים.º |

14:25
And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Mitzrim said, Let us flee from the face of Yisrael; for Yahweh fighteth for them against the Mitzrim. |
|
14:26 ¶
And

Stretch outººº
thine handº
overº
the sea,º
that the watersº
may come againºº
uponº
the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים,º
uponº
their chariots,º
and uponº
their horsemen.º |

14:26 ¶
And Yahweh said unto Mosheh, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Mitzrim, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. |
|
14:27
And

stretched forthººº
his handº
overº
the sea,º
and the seaº
returnedºº
to his strengthº
when the morningº
appeared;ºº
and the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
fledºº
againstºº
it; and
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
overthrewººº
the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
in the midstº
of the sea.º |

14:27
And Mosheh stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Mitzrim fled against it; and Yahweh overthrew the Mitzrim in the midst of the sea. |
|
14:28
And the watersº
returned,ºº
and coveredººº
the chariots,º
and the horsemen,º
[and] allº
the hostº
of
Par`ò
פַּרעֹהº
that cameºº
into the seaº
afterº
them; there remainedºº
notº
so much asº
oneº
of them. |
|
14:28
And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, [and] all the host of Paroh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. |
|
14:29
But the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
walkedºº
upon dryº
[land] in the midstº
of the sea;º
and the watersº
[were] a wallº
unto them on their right hand,ºº
and on their left.ºº |
|
14:29
But the children of Yisrael walked upon dry [land] in the midst of the sea; and the waters [were] a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. |
|
14:30
Thus

out of the handºº
of the
Mixrîm

Yi$rä´ël

Thus Yahweh saved Yisrael that day out of the hand of the Mitzrim; and Yisrael saw the Mitzrim dead upon the sea shore. |

14:31
And

that greatº
workº
whichº

יָהוֶהº
didºº
upon the
Mixrîm

and the peopleº
fearedººº

And Yisrael saw that great work which Yahweh did upon the Mitzrim: and the people feared Yahweh, and believed Yahweh, and his servant Mosheh. |
