on the fifteenthººº

after their departing outºº
of the landºº

16:1 ¶
And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Yisrael came unto the wilderness of Sin, which [is] between Elim and Sinay, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Mitzrayim. |

And the wholeº

of the childrenº

murmuredºº
againstº
Möšè
מֹשֶׁהº
and
´Ahárön
אַהֲרֹןº
in the wilderness:º |

And the whole congregation of the children of Yisrael murmured against Mosheh and Aharon in the wilderness: |

And the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
saidºº
untoº
them, Would to Godººº
we had diedºº
by the handº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
in the landº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם,º
when we satºº
byº
the fleshº
pots,º
[and] when we did eatºº
breadº
to the full;º
forº
ye have brought us forthººº
intoº
thisº
wilderness,º
to killººº
thisº
wholeº
assemblyº
with hunger.º |

And the children of Yisrael said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of Yahweh in the land of Mitzrayim, when we sat by the flesh pots, [and] when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger. |
|
16:4 ¶

מֹשֶׁה,º
Behold,º
I will rainºº
breadº
fromº
heavenº
for you; and the peopleº
shall go outºº
and gatherºº
a certain rateº
every day,ºº
thatº
I may proveºº
them, whether they will walkººº
in my law,º
orº
no.º |

16:4 ¶
Then said Yahweh unto Mosheh, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. |
|
16:5
And it shall come to pass,º
that on the sixthº
dayº
they shall prepareººº
[that] whichº
they bring in;ºº
and it shall beº
twiceº
as much asºº
they gatherºº
daily.º |

And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare [that] which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily. |
|
16:6

And Mosheh and Aharon said unto all the children of Yisrael, At even, then ye shall know that Yahweh hath brought you out from the land of Mitzrayim: |

And in the morning,º
then ye shall seeººº
the gloryº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה;º
for that he hearethººº
your murmuringsº
againstº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:º
and whatº
[are] we,º
thatº
ye murmurºººº
againstº
us? |
|
16:7
And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of Yahweh; for that he heareth your murmurings against Yahweh: and what [are] we, that ye murmur against us? |
|
16:8
And

[This shall be], when

יָהוֶהº
shall giveºº
you in the eveningº
fleshº
to eat,ºº
and in the morningº
breadº
to the full;ºº
for that

whichº
yeº
murmurºº
againstº
him: and whatº
[are] we?º
your murmuringsº
[are] notº
againstº
us, butº
againstº

יָהוֶה.º |

And Mosheh said, [This shall be], when Yahweh shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that Yahweh heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what [are] we? your murmurings [are] not against us, but against Yahweh. |
|

And Mosheh spake unto Aharon, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Yisrael, Come near before Yahweh: for he hath heard your murmurings. |

And it came to pass,º

the wholeº
congregationº
of the childrenº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
that they lookedºº
towardº
the wilderness,º
and, behold,º
the gloryº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
appearedºº
in the cloud.º |

And it came to pass, as Aharon spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Yisrael, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of Yahweh appeared in the cloud. |
|
16:11 ¶

And Yahweh spake unto Mosheh, saying, |

I have heardººº
the murmuringsº
of the childrenº

them, saying,ºº
Atº
evenºº
ye shall eatºº
flesh,º
and in the morningº
ye shall be filledºº
with bread;º
and ye shall knowºº
thatº
Iº
[am]
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
your
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.º |

I have heard the murmurings of the children of Yisrael: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I [am] Yahweh your Elohim. |

16:13
And it came to pass,º
that at evenº
the quailsº
came up,ºº
and coveredººº
the camp:º
and in the morningº
the dewº
layºº
round aboutº
the host.º |
|
16:13
And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. |
|
16:14
And when the dewº
that layº
was gone up,ºº
behold,º
uponº
the faceº
of the wildernessº
[there lay] a smallº
round thing,ºº
[as] smallº
as the hoar frostº
onº
the ground.º |

16:14
And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness [there lay] a small round thing, [as] small as the hoar frost on the ground. |
|
16:15
And when the childrenº

sawºº
[it], they saidºº
oneº
toº
another,º
Itº
[is] manna:º
forº
they wistºº
notº
whatº
itº
[was]. And

them, Thisº
[is] the breadº
whichº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath givenºº
you to eat.º |

And when the children of Yisrael saw [it], they said one to another, It [is] manna: for they wist not what it [was]. And Mosheh said unto them, This [is] the bread which Yahweh hath given you to eat. |
|
16:16 ¶
Thisº
[is] the thingº
whichº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath commanded,ºº
Gatherºº
ofº
it every manº
accordingº
toº
his eating,º
an omerº
for every man,º
[according to] the numberº
of your persons;º
takeºº
ye every manº
for [them] whichº
[are] in his tents.º |

16:16 ¶
This [is] the thing which Yahweh hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, [according to] the number of your persons; take ye every man for [them] which [are] in his tents. |
|

And the childrenº

and gathered,ºº
some more,ºº
some less.ºº |

And the children of Yisrael did so, and gathered, some more, some less. |
|
16:18
And when they did meteºº
[it] with an omer,º
he that gathered muchºº
had nothing over,ººº
and he that gathered littleºº
had noº
lack;ºº
they gatheredºº
every manº
accordingº
toº
his eating.º |

16:18
And when they did mete [it] with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating. |

16:19
And

Let noº

leaveºº

it tillº
the morning.º |

16:19
And Mosheh said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. |

Notwithstanding they hearkenedºº

but someºº
of them leftºº
ofº
it untilº
the morning,º
and it bredºº
worms,º
and stank:ºº
and

מֹשֶׁהº
was wrothºº
withº
them. |

Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Mosheh; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Mosheh was wroth with them. |
|
16:21
And they gatheredºº
it every morning,º
every manº
accordingº
toº
his eating:º
and when the sunº
waxed hot,ºº
it melted.ºº |

16:21
And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted. |
|
16:22 ¶
And it came to pass,º
[that] on the sixthº
dayº
they gatheredºº
twiceº
as muchº
bread,º
twoº
omersº
for oneº
[man]: and allº
the rulersº
of the congregationº
cameºº
and toldºº

16:22 ¶
And it came to pass, [that] on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one [man]: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Mosheh. |

16:23
And he saidºº

them, Thisº
[is that] whichº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath said,ºº
To morrowº
[is] the restº
of the holyº
sabbathº
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:º
bakeºº
[that]º
whichº
ye will bakeºº
[to day], and seetheºº
thatº
ye will seethe;ºº
and that whichº
remaineth overºº
lay upººº
for you to be keptº
untilº
the morning.º |

And he said unto them, This [is that] which Yahweh hath said, To morrow [is] the rest of the holy sabbath unto Yahweh: bake [that] which ye will bake [to day], and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. |
|
16:24
And they laid it upºººº

and it did notº
stink,ºº
neitherº
wasº
there any wormº
therein. |

16:24
And they laid it up till the morning, as Mosheh bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. |

said,ºº
Eatºº
that to day;º
forº
to dayº
[is] a sabbathº
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:º
to dayº
ye shall notº
findºº
it in the field.º |

16:25
And Mosheh said, Eat that to day; for to day [is] a sabbath unto Yahweh: to day ye shall not find it in the field. |
|
16:26
Sixº
daysº
ye shall gatherºº
it; but on the seventhº
day,º
[which is] the sabbath,º
in it there shall beº
none.º |
|
16:26
Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, [which is] the sabbath, in it there shall be none. |
|
16:27 ¶
And it came to pass,º
[that] there went outºº
[some] ofº
the peopleº
on the seventhº
dayº
for to gather,ºº
and they foundºº
none.º |
|
16:27 ¶
And it came to pass, [that] there went out [some] of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. |
|
16:28
And

refuseºº
ye to keepºº
my commandmentsº
and my laws?º |

And Yahweh said unto Mosheh, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? |

that

יָהוֶהº
hath givenºº
you the sabbath,º
thereforeºº
heº
givethºº
you on the sixthº
dayº
the breadº
of two days;º
abideºº
ye every manº
in his place,º
let noº
manº
go outºº
of his placeºº
on the seventhº
day.º |

See, for that Yahweh hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. |
|
16:30
So the peopleº
restedºº
on the seventhº
day.º |
|

So the people rested on the seventh day. |
|
16:31
And the houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
calledººº
the nameº
thereof Manna:º
and itº
[was] like corianderº
seed,º
white;º
and the tasteº
of it [was] like wafersº
[made] with honey.º |

16:31
And the house of Yisrael called the name thereof Manna: and it [was] like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it [was] like wafers [made] with honey. |
|
16:32 ¶
And

commandeth,ºº

And Mosheh said, This [is] the thing which Yahweh commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Mitzrayim. |

fortyº
years,º
untilº
they cameºº
toº
a landº
inhabited;ºº
they did eatººº
manna,º

they cameºº

the bordersº
of the landº

כְּנָעַן.º |

And the children of Yisrael did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Kenaan. |

Now an omerº
[is] the tenthº
[part] of an ephah.º |
|
16:36
Now an omer [is] the tenth [part] of an ephah. |
