 22:1 ¶
If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. |
 22:2 ¶
Ifº
a thiefº
be foundºº
breaking up,º
and be smittenºº
that he die,ºº
[there shall] noº
bloodº
[be shed] for him. |

 22:2 ¶
If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, [there shall] no blood [be shed] for him. |
 22:3
Ifº
the sunº
be risenºº
uponº
him, [there shall be] bloodº
[shed] for him; [for] he should make fullºº
restitution;ºº
ifº
he have nothing,º
then he shall be soldºº
for his theft.º |
|
 22:3
If the sun be risen upon him, [there shall be] blood [shed] for him; [for] he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. |

Ifº
the theftº
be certainlyºº
foundºº
in his handº
alive,º
whether it be ox,ºº
orº
ass,º
orº
sheep;º
he shall restoreºº
double.º |

 22:4
If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double. |
 22:5 ¶
Ifº
a manº
shall cause a fieldº
orº
vineyardº
to be eaten,ºº
and shall putºº
inºº
his beast,º
and shall feedºº
in another man'sº
field;º
of the bestº
of his own field,º
and of the bestº
of his own vineyard,º
shall he make restitution.ºº |

 22:5 ¶
If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution. |
 22:6 ¶
Ifº
fireº
break out,ºº
and catchºº
in thorns,º
so that the stacks of corn,º
orº
the standing corn,º
orº
the field,º
be consumedºº
[therewith]; he that kindledººº
the fireº
shall surelyºº
make restitution.ºº |

 22:6 ¶
If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed [therewith]; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution. |
 22:7 ¶
Ifº
a manº
shall deliverºº
untoº
his neighbourº
moneyº
orº
stuffº
to keep,ºº
and it be stolenºº
out of the man'sº
house;ººº
ifº
the thiefº
be found,ºº
let him payºº
double.º |

 22:7 ¶
If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double. |

the thiefº

found,ºº
then the masterº
of the houseº
shall be broughtºº
untoº
the
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
[to see] whetherºº
he have putºº
his handº
unto his neighbour'sº
goods.º |

 22:8
If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the elohim, [to see] whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods. |

[whether it be] forº

sheep,º
forº
raiment,º
[or] forº
any mannerº
of lost thing,º
whichº
[another] challengethºº
to be his,ººº
the causeº
of both partiesº

´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים;º
[and] whomº
the
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
shall condemn,ºº
he shall payºº
doubleº
unto his neighbour.º |

 22:9
For all manner of trespass, [whether it be] for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, [or] for any manner of lost thing, which [another] challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the elohim; [and] whom the elohim shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour. |

If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing [it]: |
 22:11
[Then] shall an oathº

Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
beº
betweenº
them both,º
thatº
he hath notº
putºº
his handº
unto his neighbour'sº
goods;º
and the ownerº
of it shall acceptºº
[thereof], and he shall notº
make [it] good.ºº |

 22:11
[Then] shall an oath of Yahweh be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept [thereof], and he shall not make [it] good. |
 22:12
And ifº
it be stolenººº
fromºº
him, he shall make restitutionºº
unto the ownerº
thereof. |

 22:12
And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof. |
 22:13
Ifº
it be torn in pieces,ººº
[then] let him bringºº
it [for] witness,º
[and] he shall notº
make goodºº
that which was torn.º |

 22:13
If it be torn in pieces, [then] let him bring it [for] witness, [and] he shall not make good that which was torn. |
 22:14 ¶
And ifº
a manº
borrowºº
[ought] ofºº
his neighbour,º
and it be hurt,ºº
orº
die,ºº
the ownerº
thereof [being] notº
withº
it,º
he shall surelyºº
make [it] good.ºº |

 22:14 ¶
And if a man borrow [ought] of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof [being] not with it, he shall surely make [it] good. |
 22:15
[But] ifº
the ownerº
thereof [be] withº
it, he shall notº
make [it] good:ºº
ifº
itº
[be] an hiredº
[thing], it cameºº
for his hire.º |

 22:15
[But] if the owner thereof [be] with it, he shall not make [it] good: if it [be] an hired [thing], it came for his hire. |
 22:16 ¶
And ifº
a manº
enticeºº
a maidº
thatº
is notº
betrothed,ºº
and lieºº
withº
her, he shall surelyºº
endowºº
her to be his wife.º |

 22:16 ¶
And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. |
 22:17
Ifº
her fatherº
utterlyºº
refuseºº
to giveºº
her unto him, he shall payºº
moneyº
according to the dowryº
of virgins.º |

 22:17
If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins. |
 22:18 ¶
Thou shalt notº
suffer a witchºº
to live.ººº |

 22:18 ¶
Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. |
 22:19 ¶
Whosoeverº
liethºº
withº
a beastº
shall surelyºº
be put to death.ºº |

 22:19 ¶
Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death. |
 22:20 ¶
He that sacrificethºº
unto [any]

אֱלֹהִים,º

Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
only,º
he shall be utterly destroyed.ºº |
|
 22:20 ¶
He that sacrificeth unto [any] elohim, save unto Yahweh only, he shall be utterly destroyed. |
 22:21 ¶
Thou shalt neitherº
vexºº
a stranger,º
norº
oppressºº
him: forº
ye wereº
strangersº
in the landº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם.º |
|
 22:21 ¶
Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Mitzrayim. |
 22:22 ¶
Ye shall notº
afflictºº
anyº
widow,º
or fatherless child.º |
|
 22:22 ¶
Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. |
 22:23
Ifº
thou afflictºº
them in any wise,ººº
andº
they cryºº
at allºº
untoº
me, I will surelyºº
hearºº
their cry;º |

 22:23
If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; |
 22:24
And my wrathº
shall wax hot,ºº
and I will killºº
you with the sword;º
and your wivesº
shall beº
widows,º
and your childrenº
fatherless.º |

 22:24
And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. |
 22:25 ¶

thou lendºº
moneyº
to [any of]º
my peopleº
[that is]º
poorº
byº
thee, thou shalt notº
beº
to him as an usurer,ºº
neitherº
shalt thou layºº
uponº
him usury.º |

 22:25 ¶
If thou lend money to [any of] my people [that is] poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury. |

takeºº
thy neighbour'sº
raimentº
to pledge,ºººº
thou shalt deliverºº
it unto him byº
thatº
the sunº
goeth down:ºº |

 22:26
If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down: |

Forº
thatº
[is] his coveringº
only,º
itº
[is] his raimentº
for his skin:º
whereinº
shall he sleep?ºº
and it shall come to pass,º
whenº
he criethºº
untoº
me, that I will hear;ºº
forº
Iº
[am] gracious.º |

 22:27
For that [is] his covering only, it [is] his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I [am] gracious. |
 22:28 ¶
Thou shalt notº
revileºº
the

אֱלֹהִים,º
norº
curseºº
the rulerº
of thy people.º |
|
 22:28 ¶
Thou shalt not revile the elohim, nor curse the ruler of thy people. |
 22:29 ¶
Thou shalt notº
delayºº
[to offer] the first of thy ripe fruits,º
and of thy liquors:º
the firstbornº
of thy sonsº
shalt thou giveºº
unto me. |
|
 22:29 ¶
Thou shalt not delay [to offer] the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me. |
 22:30
Likewiseº
shalt thou doºº
with thine oxen,º
[and] with thy sheep:º
sevenº
daysº
it shall beº
withº
his dam;º
on the eighthº
dayº
thou shalt giveºº
it me. |

 22:30
Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, [and] with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me. |
 22:31 ¶
And ye shall beº
holyº
menºº
unto me: neitherº
shall ye eatºº
[any] fleshº
[that is] torn of beastsº
in the field;º
ye shall castºº
it to the dogs.º |

 22:31 ¶
And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat [any] flesh [that is] torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs. |
