יִשׂרָאֵל°
his people,°
[and] that°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
had brought°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
out°°°
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם;°° |

18:1 ¶
When Yithro, the priest of Midyan, Mosheh's father in law, heard of all that Elohim had done for Mosheh, and for Yisrael his people, [and] that Yahweh had brought Yisrael out of Mitzrayim; |

Then Yithro, Mosheh's father in law, took Tzipporah, Mosheh's wife, after he had sent her back, |

And her two°
sons;°
of which°
the name°
of the one°
[was]
Gëršôm
גֵּרשׁוֹם;°°
for°
he said,°°
I have been°
an alien°
in a strange°
land:° |

And her two sons; of which the name of the one [was] Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land: |

And the name°
of the other°
[was]
´Élî`ezer
אֱלִיעֶזֶר;°
for°
the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of my father,°
[said he, was] mine help,°
and delivered°°
me from the sword°°
of
Par`ò
פַּרעֹה:° |

And the name of the other [was] Eliezer; for the Elohim of my father, [said he, was] mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Paroh: |

And

came°°
with his sons°
and his wife°
unto°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
into°
the wilderness,°
where°°
he°
encamped°°
at the mount°

´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:° |

And Yithro, Mosheh's father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Mosheh into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of Elohim: |

And he said°°
unto°

מֹשֶׁה,°
I°
thy father in law°°
Yiŧrô
יִתרוֹ°
am come°°
unto°
thee, and thy wife,°
and her two°
sons°
with°
her. |

18:6
And he said unto Mosheh, I thy father in law Yithro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her. |
|
18:7 ¶
And
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
went out°°
to meet°°
his father in law,°°
and did obeisance,°°
and kissed°°
him; and they asked°°
each°
other°
of [their] welfare;°
and they came°°
into the tent.° |

18:7 ¶
And Mosheh went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of [their] welfare; and they came into the tent. |

And

his father in law°°°
all°
that°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
had done°°
unto
Par`ò
פַּרעֹה°
and to the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים°
for°
Yiŝrä´ël's
יִשׂרָאֵל°
sake,°
[and]°
all°
the travail°
that°
had come°°
upon°
them by the way,°
and [how]
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
delivered°°
them. |

And Mosheh told his father in law all that Yahweh had done unto Paroh and to the Mitzrim for Yisrael's sake, [and] all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and [how] Yahweh delivered them. |
|
18:9
And
Yiŧrô
יִתרוֹ°
rejoiced°°
for°
all°
the goodness°
which°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
had done°°
to
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
whom°
he had delivered°°
out of the hand°°
of the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים.° |

18:9
And Yithro rejoiced for all the goodness which Yahweh had done to Yisrael, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Mitzrim. |
|
18:10
And
Yiŧrô
יִתרוֹ°
said,°°
Blessed°°
[be]
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
who°
hath delivered°°
you out of the hand°°
of the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים,°
and out of the hand°°
of
Par`ò
פַּרעֹה,°
who°
hath delivered°°°
the people°
from under°°
the hand°
of the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים.° |

And Yithro said, Blessed [be] Yahweh, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Mitzrim, and out of the hand of Paroh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Mitzrim. |

Now°
I know°°
that°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
[is] greater°
than all°°
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:°
for°
in the thing°
wherein°
they dealt proudly°°
[he was] above°
them. |

Now I know that Yahweh [is] greater than all elohim: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly [he was] above them. |
|
18:12
And

father in law,°°
took°°
a burnt offering°
and sacrifices°
for
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:°
and
´Ahárön
אַהֲרֹן°
came,°°
and all°
the elders°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
to eat°°
bread°
with°
Möšè's
מֹשֶׁה°
father in law°°
before°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.° |

18:12
And Yithro, Mosheh's father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for Elohim: and Aharon came, and all the elders of Yisrael, to eat bread with Mosheh's father in law before Elohim. |
|
18:13 ¶
And it came to pass°
on the morrow,°°
that

מֹשֶׁה°
sat°°
to judge°°°
the people:°
and the people°
stood°°
by°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
from°
the morning°
unto°
the evening.° |

18:13 ¶
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Mosheh sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Mosheh from the morning unto the evening. |
|

And when

father in law°°
saw°°°
all°
that°
he°
did°°
to the people,°
he said,°°
What°
[is] this°
thing°
that°
thou°
doest°°
to the people?°
why°
sittest°°
thou°
thyself alone,°
and all°
the people°
stand°°
by°
thee from°
morning°
unto°
even?° |

And when Mosheh's father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What [is] this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? |

And

the people°

unto°
me to enquire°°

´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:° |

And Mosheh said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of Elohim: |

When°
they have°
a matter,°
they come°°
unto°
me; and I judge°°
between°
one°
and another,°
and I do make [them] know°°°
the statutes°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
and his laws.° |

18:16
When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make [them] know the statutes of Elohim, and his laws. |
|
18:17
And

father in law°°
said°°
unto°
him, The thing°
that°
thou°
doest°°
[is] not°
good.° |

18:17
And Mosheh's father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest [is] not good. |
|
18:18
Thou wilt surely°°
wear away,°°
both°
thou,°
and°
this°
people°
that°
[is] with°
thee: for°
this thing°
[is] too heavy°
for°
thee; thou art not°
able°°
to perform°°
it thyself alone.° |

18:18
Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that [is] with thee: for this thing [is] too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. |
|
18:19
Hearken°°
now°
unto my voice,°
I will give thee counsel,°°
and
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
shall be°°
with°
thee: Be°
thou°
for the people°
to
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים-ward,°°
that thou°
mayest bring°°°
the causes°
unto°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:° |

18:19
Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and Elohim shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to Elohim-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto Elohim: |

18:20
And thou shalt teach°°°
them°
ordinances°
and laws,°
and shalt shew°°
them°
the way°
wherein they must walk,°°°
and the work°°
that°
they must do.°° |

And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. |

18:21
Moreover thou°
shalt provide°°
out of all°°
the people°
able°
men,°°
such as fear°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
men°°
of truth,°
hating°°
covetousness;°
and place°°
[such] over°
them, [to be] rulers°
of thousands,°
[and] rulers°
of hundreds,°
rulers°
of fifties,°
and rulers°
of tens:° |

Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear Elohim, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place [such] over them, [to be] rulers of thousands, [and] rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: |
|
18:22
And let them judge°°°
the people°
at all°
seasons:°
and it shall be,°
[that] every°
great°
matter°
they shall bring°°
unto°
thee, but every°
small°
matter°
they°
shall judge:°°
so shall it be easier°°
for°°
thyself, and they shall bear°°
[the burden] with°
thee. |

And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, [that] every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear [the burden] with thee. |

18:23
If°
thou shalt do°°°
this°
thing,°
and
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
command°°
thee [so], then thou shalt be able°°
to endure,°°
and all°
this°
people°
shall also°
go°°
to°
their place°
in peace.° |

18:23
If thou shalt do this thing, and Elohim command thee [so], then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. |
|
18:24
So

hearkened°°
to the voice°
of his father in law,°°
and did°°
all°
that°
he had said.°° |

18:24
So Mosheh hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said. |

18:25
And

מֹשֶׁה°
chose°°
able°
men°°
out of all°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and made°°
them heads°
over°
the people,°
rulers°
of thousands,°
rulers°
of hundreds,°
rulers°
of fifties,°
and rulers°
of tens.° |

And Mosheh chose able men out of all Yisrael, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. |

18:26
And they judged°°°
the people°
at all°
seasons:°
the hard°°
causes°
they brought°°
unto°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה,°
but every°
small°
matter°°
they judged°°
themselves.° |

18:26
And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Mosheh, but every small matter they judged themselves. |
|
18:27 ¶
And
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
let°
his father in law°°
depart;°°
and he went°°
his way°
into°
his own land.° |

18:27 ¶
And Mosheh let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land. |
