 40:1 ¶ And Yähwè יָהוֶהº spakeºº untoº Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º saying,ºº

 40:1 ¶ And Yahweh spake unto Mosheh, saying,

 40:2 On the firstº dayººº of the firstºº monthº shalt thou set upººº the tabernacleº of the tentº of the congregation.º

 40:2 On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

 40:3 And thou shalt putºº thereinºº the arkº of the testimony,º and coverººº the arkº withº the vail.º

 40:3 And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail.

 40:4 And thou shalt bringºº inºº the table,º and set in orderººº the things that are to be set in orderº upon it; and thou shalt bringºº inºº the candlestick,º and lightººº the lampsº thereof.

 40:4 And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.

 40:5 And thou shalt setººº the altarº of goldº for the incenseº beforeº the arkº of the testimony,º and putººº the hangingº of the doorº to the tabernacle.º

 40:5 And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle.

 40:6 And thou shalt setººº the altarº of the burnt offeringº beforeº the doorº of the tabernacleº of the tentº of the congregation.º

 40:6 And thou shalt set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

 40:7 And thou shalt setººº the laverº betweenº the tentº of the congregationº and the altar,º and shalt putºº waterº therein.º

 40:7 And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shalt put water therein.

 40:8 And thou shalt set upººº the courtº round about,º and hang upººº the hangingº at the courtº gate.º

 40:8 And thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the hanging at the court gate.

 40:9 And thou shalt takeººº the anointingº oil,º and anointººº the tabernacle,º and allº thatº [is] therein, and shalt hallowºº it, and allº the vesselsº thereof: and it shall beº holy.º

 40:9 And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that [is] therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy.

 40:10 And thou shalt anointººº the altarº of the burnt offering,º and allº his vessels,º and sanctifyººº the altar:º and it shall beº an altarº mostº holy.º

 40:10 And thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy.

 40:11 And thou shalt anointººº the laverº and his foot,º and sanctifyºº it.

 40:11 And thou shalt anoint the laver and his foot, and sanctify it.

 40:12 And thou shalt bringººº ´Ahárön אַהֲרֹןº and his sonsº untoº the doorº of the tabernacleº of the congregation,º and washºº them with water.º

 40:12 And thou shalt bring Aharon and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water.

 40:13 And thou shalt putºº uponºº ´Ahárön אַהֲרֹןº theº holyº garments,º and anointºº him, and sanctifyºº him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.ºº

 40:13 And thou shalt put upon Aharon the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.

 40:14 And thou shalt bringºº his sons,º and clotheºº them with coats:º

 40:14 And thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats:

 40:15 And thou shalt anointºº them, asº thou didst anointººº their father,º that they may minister unto me in the priest's office:ºº for their anointingºº shall surely beº an everlastingº priesthoodº throughout their generations.º

 40:15 And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.

 40:16 Thus didºº Möšè מֹשֶׁה:º according to allº thatº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedºº him, soº didºº he.

 40:16 Thus did Mosheh: according to all that Yahweh commanded him, so did he.

 40:17 ¶ And it came to passº in the firstº monthº in the secondº year,º on the firstº [day] of the month,º [that] the tabernacleº was reared up.ºº

 40:17 ¶ And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first [day] of the month, [that] the tabernacle was reared up.

 40:18 And Möšè מֹשֶׁהº reared upººº the tabernacle,º and fastenedººº his sockets,º and set upººº the boardsº thereof, and putºº inºº the barsº thereof, and reared upººº his pillars.º

 40:18 And Mosheh reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars.

 40:19 And he spread abroadººº the tentº overº the tabernacle,º and putººº the coveringº of the tentº aboveºº uponº it; asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedººº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 40:19 And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as Yahweh commanded Mosheh.

 40:20 ¶ And he tookºº and putººº the testimonyº intoº the ark,º and setººº the stavesº onº the ark,º and putººº the mercy seatº aboveºº uponº the ark:º

 40:20 ¶ And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark:

 40:21 And he broughtººº the arkº intoº the tabernacle,º and set upººº the vailº of the covering,º and coveredººº the arkº of the testimony;º asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedººº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 40:21 And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the vail of the covering, and covered the ark of the testimony; as Yahweh commanded Mosheh.

 40:22 ¶ And he putººº the tableº in the tentº of the congregation,º uponº the sideº of the tabernacleº northward,º withoutºº the vail.º

 40:22 ¶ And he put the table in the tent of the congregation, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the vail.

 40:23 And he setºº the breadº in orderººº uponº it beforeº Yähwè יָהוֶה;º asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº had commandedººº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 40:23 And he set the bread in order upon it before Yahweh; as Yahweh had commanded Mosheh.

 40:24 ¶ And he putººº the candlestickº in the tentº of the congregation,º over againstº the table,º onº the sideº of the tabernacleº southward.º

 40:24 ¶ And he put the candlestick in the tent of the congregation, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.

 40:25 And he lightedºº the lampsº beforeº Yähwè יָהוֶה;º asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedººº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 40:25 And he lighted the lamps before Yahweh; as Yahweh commanded Mosheh.

 40:26 ¶ And he putººº the goldenº altarº in the tentº of the congregationº beforeº the vail:º

 40:26 ¶ And he put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation before the vail:

 40:27 And he burntºº sweetº incenseº thereon;º asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedººº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 40:27 And he burnt sweet incense thereon; as Yahweh commanded Mosheh.

 40:28 ¶ And he set upººº the hangingº [at] the doorº of the tabernacle.º

 40:28 ¶ And he set up the hanging [at] the door of the tabernacle.

 40:29 And he putºº the altarº of burnt offeringº [by] the doorº of the tabernacleº of the tentº of the congregation,º and offeredºº uponº itº the burnt offeringº and the meat offering;º asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedººº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 40:29 And he put the altar of burnt offering [by] the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the meat offering; as Yahweh commanded Mosheh.

 40:30 ¶ And he setººº the laverº betweenº the tentº of the congregationº and the altar,º and putºº waterº there,º to washºº [withal].

 40:30 ¶ And he set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and put water there, to wash [withal].

 40:31 And Möšè מֹשֶׁהº and ´Ahárön אַהֲרֹןº and his sonsº washedººº their handsº and their feetº thereat:º

 40:31 And Mosheh and Aharon and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat:

 40:32 When they wentºº intoº the tentº of the congregation,º and when they came nearºº untoº the altar,º they washed;ºº asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedººº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 40:32 When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as Yahweh commanded Mosheh.

 40:33 And he reared upººº the courtº round aboutº the tabernacleº and the altar,º and set upººº the hangingº of the courtº gate.º So Möšè מֹשֶׁהº finishedººº the work.º

 40:33 And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Mosheh finished the work.

 40:34 ¶ Then a cloudº coveredººº the tentº of the congregation,º and the gloryº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº filledººº the tabernacle.º

 40:34 ¶ Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of Yahweh filled the tabernacle.

 40:35 And Möšè מֹשֶׁהº was notº ableºº to enterºº intoº the tentº of the congregation,º becauseº the cloudº abodeºº thereon,º and the gloryº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº filledººº the tabernacle.º

 40:35 And Mosheh was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of Yahweh filled the tabernacle.

 40:36 And when the cloudº was taken upºº fromº overºº the tabernacle,º the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº went onwardºº in allº their journeys:º

 40:36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Yisrael went onward in all their journeys:

 40:37 But ifº the cloudº were notº taken up,ºº then they journeyedºº notº tillº the dayº that it was taken up.ºº

 40:37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.

 40:38 Forº the cloudº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº [was] uponº the tabernacleº by day,º and fireº wasº on it by night,º in the sightº of allº the houseº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º throughout allº their journeys.º

 40:38 For the cloud of Yahweh [was] upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Yisrael, throughout all their journeys.
