Job 17

1 Job appealeth from men to God. 6 The unmerciful dealing of men with the afflicted may astonish, but not discourage the righteous. 11 His hope is not in life, but in death.

 17:1 “My spirit 7307 is broken 2254b, my days 3117 are extinguished 2193, The grave 6913 is [ready] for me.

 17:2 “Surely 518 3808 mockers 2049 are with me, And my eye 5869 gazes 3885a on their provocation 4784.

 17:3 ¶ “Lay 7760 down 7760, now 4994, a pledge 6162 for me with Yourself; Who 4310 is there that will be my guarantor 8628 3027?

 17:4 “For You have kept 6845 their heart 3820 from understanding 7922, Therefore 5921 3651 You will not exalt 7311 [them].

 17:5 “He who informs 5046 against friends 7453 for a share 2506 [of the spoil], The eyes 5869 of his children 1121 also will languish 3615.

 17:6 ¶ “But He has made 3322 me a byword 4914 of the people 5971a, And I am 1961 one at whom men spit 8611.

 17:7 “My eye 5869 has also grown 3543a dim 3543a because 4480 of grief 3708b, And all 3605 my members 3338 are as a shadow 6738.

 17:8 “The upright 3477 will be appalled 8074 at this 384, And the innocent 5355a will stir 5782 up himself against 5921 the godless 2611.

 17:9 “Nevertheless the righteous 6662 will hold 270 to his way 1870, And he who has clean 2889 hands 3027 will grow 3254 stronger 555 and stronger.

 17:10 “But come 935 again 7725 all 3605 of you now 4994, For I do not find 4672 a wise 2450 man 2450 among you.

 17:11 “My days 3117 are past 5674a, my plans 2154 are torn 5423 apart 5423, [Even] the wishes 4180 of my heart 3824.

 17:12 “They make 7760 night 3915 into day 3117, [saying], ‘The light 216 is near 7138,’ in the presence 6440 of darkness 2822.

 17:13 “If 518 I look 6960a for Sheol 7585 as my home 1004, I make 7502 my bed 3326 in the darkness 2822;

 17:14 If I call 7121 to the pit 7845, ‘You are my father 1’; To the worm 7415, ‘my mother 517 and my sister 269’;

 17:15 Where 346 now 645 is my hope 8615b? And who 4310 regards 7789 my hope 8615b?

 17:16 “Will it go 3381 down 3381 with me to Sheol 7585? Shall we together 3162 go 5183a down 5183a into the dust 6083?”
