Job 22

1 Eliphaz sheweth that man's goodness profiteth not God. 5 He accuseth Job of divers sins. 21 He exhorteth him to repentance, with promises of mercy.

 22:1 Then Eliphaz 464 the Temanite 8489 responded 6030a 559,

 22:2 “Can a vigorous man 1397 be of use 5532a to God 410, Or 3588 a wise 7919a man be useful 5532a to himself?

 22:3 “Is there any pleasure 2656 to the Almighty 7706b if 3588 you are righteous 6663, Or 518 profit 1215 if 3588 you make 8552 your ways 1870 perfect 8552?

 22:4 “Is it because 4480 of your reverence 3374 that He reproves 3198 you, That He enters 935 into judgment 4941 against 5973 you?

 22:5 “Is not your wickedness 7463a great 7227a, And your iniquities 5771 without 369 end 7093?

 22:6 “For you have taken 2254a pledges 2254a of your brothers 251 without 2600 cause 2600, And stripped 6584 men naked 6174.

 22:7 “To the weary 5889 you have given 8248 no 3808 water 4325 to drink 8248, And from the hungry 7457 you have withheld 4513 bread 3899.

 22:8 “But the earth 776 belongs to the mighty 2220 man 376, And the honorable 5375 6440 man dwells 3427 in it.

 22:9 “You have sent 7971 widows 490 away 7971 empty 7387, And the strength 2220 of the orphans 3490 has been crushed 1792.

 22:10 “Therefore 5921 3651 snares 6341a surround 5439 you, And sudden 6597 dread 6343 terrifies 926 you,

 22:11 Or 176 darkness 2822, so that you cannot 3808 see 7200, And an abundance 8229 of water 4325 covers 3680 you.

 22:12 ¶ “Is not God 433 [in] the height 1363 of heaven 8064? Look 7200 also at the distant 7218 stars 3556, how 3588 high 7311 they are!

 22:13 “You say 559, ‘What 4100 does God 410 know 3045? Can He judge 8199 through 1157 the thick 6205 darkness 6205?

 22:14 ‘Clouds 5645 are a hiding 5643 place 5643a for Him, so that He cannot 3808 see 7200; And He walks 1980 on the vault 2329 of heaven 8064.’

 22:15 “Will you keep 8104 to the ancient 5769 path 734 Which 834 wicked 205 men 4962 have trod 1869,

 22:16 Who 834 were snatched 7059 away 7059 before their time 6256, Whose foundations 3247 were washed 3332 away 3332 by a river 5104?

 22:17 “They said 559 to God 410, ‘Depart 5493 from us!’ And ‘What 4100 can the Almighty 7706b do 6466 to them?’

 22:18 “Yet He filled 4390 their houses 1004 with good 2896b [things]; But the counsel 6098 of the wicked 7563 is far 7368 from me.

 22:19 “The righteous 6662 see 7200 and are glad 8055, And the innocent 5355a mock 3932 them,

 22:20 [Saying], ‘Truly 518 3808 our adversaries 7009 are cut 3582 off 3582, And their abundance 3499a the fire 784 has consumed 398.’

 22:21 ¶ “Yield 5532a now 4994 and be at peace 7999b with Him; Thereby good 2899b will come 935 to you.

 22:22 “Please 4994 receive 3947 instruction 8451 from His mouth 6310 And establish 7760 His words 561 in your heart 3824.

 22:23 “If 518 you return 7725 to the Almighty 7706b, you will be restored 1129; If you remove 7368 unrighteousness 5767b far 7368 from your tent 168,

 22:24 And place 7896 [your] gold 1220 in the dust 6083, And [the gold of] Ophir 211 among the stones 6697 of the brooks 5158a,

 22:25 Then the Almighty 7706b will be your gold 1220 And choice 8443 silver 3701 to you.

 22:26 “For then 227 you will delight 6026 in the Almighty 7706b And lift 5375 up your face 6440 to God 433.

 22:27 “You will pray 6279 to Him, and He will hear 8085 you; And you will pay 7999a your vows 5088.

 22:28 “You will also decree 1504 a thing 561, and it will be established 6965 for you; And light 216 will shine 5050 on your ways 1870.

 22:29 “When 3588 you are cast 8213 down 8213, you will speak 559 with confidence 1466, And the humble 7807 5869 person 7807 5869 He will save 3467.

 22:30 “He will deliver 4422 one who is not innocent 5355a, And he will be delivered 4422 through the cleanness 1252 of your hands 3709.”
