Job 34

1 Elihu accuseth Job for charging God with injustice. 10 God omnipotent cannot be unjust. 31 Man must humble himself unto God. 34 Elihu reproveth Job.

 34:1 Then Elihu 453 continued 6030a and said 559,

 34:2 “Hear 8085 my words 4405, you wise 2450 men 2450, And listen 238 to me, you who know 3045.

 34:3 “For the ear 241 tests 974 words 4405 As the palate 2441 tastes 2938 food 398.

 34:4 “Let us choose 977 for ourselves what 4941 is right 4941; Let us know 3045 among 996 ourselves what 4100 is good 2896a.

 34:5 “For Job 347 has said 559, ‘I am righteous 6663, But God 410 has taken 5493 away 5493 my right 4941;

 34:6 Should I lie 3576 concerning 5921 my right 4941? My wound 2671 is incurable 605, [though I am] without 1097 transgression 6588.’

 34:7 “What 4310 man 1397 is like Job 347, Who 4310 drinks 8354 up derision 3933 like water 4325,

 34:8 Who goes 732 in company 2274 with the workers 6466 of iniquity 205, And walks 1980 with wicked 7562 men 376?

 34:9 “For he has said 559, ‘It profits 5532a a man 1397 nothing 3808 When he is pleased 7521 with God 430.’

 34:10 ¶ “Therefore 3651, listen 8085 to me, you men 376 of understanding 3824. Far 2486 be it from God 410 to do wickedness 7562, And from the Almighty 7706b to do wrong 5766.

 34:11 “For He pays 7999a a man 120 according to his work 6467, And makes him find 4672 it according to his way 734.

 34:12 “Surely 637 551, God 410 will not act 7561 wickedly 7561, And the Almighty 7706b will not pervert 5791 justice 4941.

 34:13 “Who 4310 gave 6485 Him authority 6845 over 5921 the earth 776? And who 4310 has laid 7760 [on Him] the whole 3605 world 8398?

 34:14 “If 518 He should determine 7760 3820 to do so, If He should gather 622 to Himself His spirit 7307 and His breath 5397,

 34:15 All 3605 flesh 1320 would perish 1478 together 3162, And man 120 would return 7725 to dust 6083.

 34:16 ¶ “But if 518 [you have] understanding 998, hear 8085 this 384; Listen 238 to the sound 6963 of my words 4405.

 34:17 “Shall one who hates 8130 justice 4941 rule 2280? And will you condemn 7561 the righteous 6662 mighty 3524 One 3524,

 34:18 Who says 559 to a king 4428, ‘Worthless 1100 one 1100,’ To nobles 5081, ‘Wicked 7563 ones 7563’;

 34:19 Who 834 shows 5375 no 3808 partiality 5375 6440 to princes 8269 Nor 3808 regards 5234 the rich 7771a above 6440 the poor 1800b, For they all 3605 are the work 4639 of His hands 3027?

 34:20 “In a moment 7281 they die 4191, and at midnight 2676 3915 People 5971a are shaken 1607 and pass 5674a away 5674a, And the mighty 47 are taken 5493 away 5493 without 3808 a hand 3027.

 34:21 ¶ “For His eyes 5869 are upon the ways 1870 of a man 376, And He sees 7200 all 3605 his steps 6806.

 34:22 “There 369 is no 369 darkness 2822 or deep 6757 shadow 6757 Where 8033 the workers 6466 of iniquity 205 may hide 5641 themselves.

 34:23 “For He does not [need to] consider 7760 a man 376 further 5750, That he should go 1980 before 413 God 410 in judgment 4941.

 34:24 “He breaks 7489b in pieces mighty 3524 men 3524 without 3808 inquiry 2714, And sets 5975 others 312 in their place 8478.

 34:25 “Therefore 3651 He knows 5234 their works 4566, And He overthrows 2015 [them] in the night 3915, And they are crushed 1792.

 34:26 “He strikes 5606 them like 8478 the wicked 7563 In a public 7200 place 4725,

 34:27 Because 834 5921 3651 they turned 5493 aside 5493 from following 310 Him, And had 7919a no 3808 regard 7919a for any 3605 of His ways 1870;

 34:28 So that they caused the cry 6818 of the poor 1800b to come 935 to Him, And that He might hear 8085 the cry 6818 of the afflicted 6041—

 34:29 When He keeps 8252 quiet 8252, who 4310 then can condemn 7561? And when He hides 5641 His face 6440, who 4310 then can behold 7789 Him, That is, in regard 5921 to both 3162 nation 1471 and man 120?—

 34:30 So 4480 that godless 2611 men 120 would not rule 4427a Nor 4480 be snares 4170 of the people 5971a.

 34:31 ¶ “For has anyone said 559 to God 410, ‘I have borne 5375 [chastisement]; I will not offend 2254b [anymore];

 34:32 Teach 3384 me what I do not see 2372; If 518 I have done 6466 iniquity 5766, I will not do 3254 it again 3254’?

 34:33 “Shall He recompense 7999a on your terms 5973, because 3588 you have rejected 3988a [it]? For you must choose 977, and not I; Therefore declare 1696 what 4100 you know 3045.

 34:34 “Men 376 of understanding 3824 will say 559 to me, And a wise 2450 man 1397 who hears 8085 me,

 34:35 ‘Job 347 speaks 1696 without 3808 knowledge 1847, And his words 1697 are without 3808 wisdom 7919a.

 34:36 ‘Job 347 ought 994b to be tried 974 to the limit 5331, Because 5921 he answers 8666 like wicked 205 men 376.

 34:37 ‘For he adds 3254 rebellion 6588 to his sin 2403b; He claps 5606 his hands among 996 us, And multiplies 7235a his words 561 against God 410.’”
