Job 28

1 There is a knowledge of natural things, 12 but wisdom is an excellent gift of God.

 28:1 “Surely 3588 there 3426 is a mine 4161 for silver 3701 And a place 4725 where they refine 2212 gold 2091.

 28:2 “Iron 1270 is taken 3947 from the dust 6083, And copper 5154 is smelted 6694 from rock 68.

 28:3 “[Man] puts 7760 an end 7093 to darkness 2822, And to the farthest 3605 limit 8503 he searches 2713 out The rock 68 in gloom 652 and deep 6757 shadow 6757.

 28:4 “He sinks 6555 a shaft 5158a far from habitation 1481a, Forgotten 7911 by the foot 7272; They hang 1809 and swing 5128 to and fro 5128 far from men 582.

 28:5 “The earth 776, from it comes 3318 food 3899, And underneath 8478 it is turned 2015 up as fire 784.

 28:6 “Its rocks 68 are the source 4725 of sapphires 5601, And its dust 6083 [contains] gold 2091.

 28:7 “The path 5410a no 3808 bird 5861 of prey 5861 knows 3045, Nor 3808 has the falcon’s 344 eye 5869 caught 7805 sight 7805 of it.

 28:8 “The proud 7830 beasts 1121 have not trodden 1869 it, Nor 3808 has the [fierce] lion 7826 passed 5710a over 5921 it.

 28:9 “He puts 7971 his hand 3027 on the flint 2496; He overturns 2015 the mountains 2022 at the base 8328.

 28:10 “He hews 1234 out channels 2975 through the rocks 6697, And his eye 5869 sees 7200 anything 3605 precious 3366.

 28:11 “He dams 2280 up the streams 5104 from flowing 1065, And what 8587 is hidden 8587 he brings 3318 out to the light 216.

 28:12 ¶ “But where 370 can wisdom 2451 be found 4672? And where 335 is the place 4725 of understanding 998?

 28:13 “Man 582 does not know 3045 its value 6187, Nor 3808 is it found 4672 in the land 776 of the living 2416a.

 28:14 “The deep 8415 says 559, ‘It is not in me’; And the sea 3220 says 559, ‘It is not with me.’

 28:15 “Pure 5462 gold 5458 cannot 3808 be given 5414 in exchange 8478 for it, Nor 3808 can silver 3701 be weighed 8254 as its price 4242.

 28:16 “It cannot 3808 be valued 5541b in the gold 3800 of Ophir 211, In precious 3368 onyx 7718, or sapphire 5601.

 28:17 “Gold 2091 or glass 2137 cannot 3808 equal 6186a it, Nor 3808 can it be exchanged 8545 for articles 3627 of fine 6337 gold 6337.

 28:18 “Coral 7215 and crystal 1378 are not to be mentioned 2142; And the acquisition 4901 of wisdom 2451 is above 4480 [that of] pearls 6443.

 28:19 “The topaz 6357 of Ethiopia 3568a cannot 3808 equal 6186a it, Nor 3808 can it be valued 5541b in pure 2889 gold 3800.

 28:20 “Where 370 then does wisdom 2451 come 935 from? And where 335 is the place 4725 of understanding 998?

 28:21 “Thus it is hidden 5956 from the eyes 5869 of all 3605 living 2416a And concealed 5641 from the birds 5775 of the sky 8064.

 28:22 “Abaddon 11 and Death 4194 say 559, ‘With our ears 241 we have heard 8085 a report 8088 of it.’

 28:23 ¶ “God 430 understands 995 its way 1870, And He knows 3045 its place 4725.

 28:24 “For He looks 5027 to the ends 7098 of the earth 776 And sees 7200 everything 3605 under 8478 the heavens 8064.

 28:25 “When He imparted 6213a weight 4948 to the wind 7307 And meted 8505 out the waters 4325 by measure 4060a,

 28:26 When He set 6213a a limit 2706 for the rain 4306 And a course 1870 for the thunderbolt 6963 2385,

 28:27 Then 227 He saw 7200 it and declared 5608 it; He established 3559 it and also 1571 searched 2713 it out.

 28:28 “And to man 120 He said 559, ‘Behold 2005, the fear 3374 of the Lord 136, that is wisdom 2451; And to depart 5493 from evil 7451b is understanding 998.’”
