Job 33

1 Elihu offereth himself instead of God, with sincerity and meekness, to reason with Job. 8 He excuseth God from giving man an account of his ways, by his greatness. 14 God calleth man to repentance by visions, 19 by afflictions, 23 and by his ministry. 31 He inclineth Job to attention.

 33:1 “However 199 now, Job 347, please 4994 hear 8085 my speech 4405, And listen 238 to all 3605 my words 1697.

 33:2 “Behold 2009 now 4994, I open 6605a my mouth 6310, My tongue 3956 in my mouth 2441 speaks 1696.

 33:3 “My words 561 are [from] the uprightness 3476 of my heart 3820, And my lips 8193 speak 4448a knowledge 1847 sincerely 1305.

 33:4 “The Spirit 7307 of God 410 has made 6213a me, And the breath 5397 of the Almighty 7706b gives 2421a me life 2421a.

 33:5 “Refute 7725 me if 518 you can 3201; Array 6186a yourselves before 6440 me, take 3320 your stand 3320.

 33:6 “Behold 2005, I belong to God 410 like you; I too 1571 have been formed 7169 out of the clay 2563a.

 33:7 “Behold 2009, no 3808 fear 367 of me should terrify 1204 you, Nor 3808 should my pressure 405 weigh 3513 heavily 3513 on you.

 33:8 ¶ “Surely 389 you have spoken 559 in my hearing 241, And I have heard 8085 the sound 6963 of [your] words 4405:

 33:9 ‘I am pure 2134, without 1097 transgression 6588; I am innocent 2643 and there is no 3808 guilt 5771 in me.

 33:10 ‘Behold 2005, He invents 4672 pretexts 8569 against 5921 me; He counts 2803 me as His enemy 340.

 33:11 ‘He puts 7760 my feet 7272 in the stocks 5465; He watches 8104 all 3605 my paths 734.’

 33:12 “Behold 2005, let me tell 6030a you, you are not right 6663 in this 384, For God 433 is greater 7235a than 4480 man 582.

 33:13 ¶ “Why 4069 do you complain 7378 against 413 Him That He does not give 6030a an account 6030a of all 3605 His doings 1697?

 33:14 “Indeed 3588 God 410 speaks 1696 once 259, Or twice 8147, [yet] no 3808 one notices 7789 it.

 33:15 “In a dream 2472, a vision 2384 of the night 3915, When sound 8639 sleep 8639 falls 5307 on men 376, While they slumber 8572 in their beds 4904,

 33:16 Then 227 He opens 1540 the ears 241 of men 376, And seals 2856 their instruction 4148,

 33:17 That He may turn 5493 man 120 aside 5493 [from his] conduct 4639, And keep 3680 man 1397 from pride 1466;

 33:18 He keeps 2820 back 2820 his soul 5315 from the pit 7845, And his life 2421b from passing 5674a over 5674a into Sheol 7973.

 33:19 ¶ “Man is also chastened 3198 with pain 4341 on his bed 4904, And with unceasing 386 complaint 7379 in his bones 6106;

 33:20 So that his life 2421b loathes 2092 bread 3899, And his soul 5315 favorite 8378 food 3978.

 33:21 “His flesh 1320 wastes 3615 away 3615 from sight 7210, And his bones 6106 which were not seen 7210 stick 8192 out.

 33:22 “Then his soul 5315 draws 7126 near 7126 to the pit 7845, And his life 2421b to those who bring 4191 death 4191.

 33:23 ¶ “If 518 there 3426 is an angel 4397 [as] mediator 3917b for him, One 259 out of a thousand 505, To remind 5046 a man 120 what 3477 is right 3476 for him,

 33:24 Then let him be gracious 2603a to him, and say 559, ‘Deliver 6308 him from going 3381 down 3381 to the pit 7845, I have found 4672 a ransom 3724a’;

 33:25 Let his flesh 1320 become 7375 fresher 7375 than 4480 in youth 5290, Let him return 7725 to the days 3117 of his youthful 5934 vigor 5934;

 33:26 Then he will pray 6279 to God 433, and He will accept 7521 him, That he may see 7200 His face 6440 with joy 8643, And He may restore 7725 His righteousness 6666 to man 582.

 33:27 “He will sing 7891 to men 376 and say 559, ‘I have sinned 2398 and perverted 5753a what 3477 is right 3474, And it is not proper 7737a for me.

 33:28 ‘He has redeemed 6299 my soul 5315 from going 5674a to the pit 7845, And my life 2421b shall see 7200 the light 216.’

 33:29 ¶ “Behold 2005, God 410 does 6466 all 3605 these 428 oftentimes 6471 7969 with men 1397,

 33:30 To bring 7725 back 7725 his soul 5315 from the pit 7845, That he may be enlightened 215 with the light 216 of life 2425b.

 33:31 “Pay 7181 attention 7181, O Job 347, listen 8085 to me; Keep 2790b silent 2790b, and let me speak 1696.

 33:32 “[Then] if 518 you have 3426 anything 4405 to say 4405, answer 7725 me; Speak 1696, for I desire 2654a to justify 6663 you.

 33:33 “If 518 not, listen 8085 to me; Keep 2790b silent 2790b, and I will teach 502 you wisdom 2451.”
