Job 9
1 Job, acknowledging God's justice, sheweth there is no contending with him. 22 Man's innocency is not to be condemned by afflictions.

9:1
Then Job 347 answered 6030a,

9:2
“In truth 551 I know 3045 that this is so 3651; But how 4100 can a man 582 be in the right 6663 before 5973 God 410?

9:3
“If 518 one wished 2654a to dispute 7378 with Him, He could not answer 6030a Him once 259 in a thousand 505 [times].

9:4
“Wise 2450 in heart 3824 and mighty 533 in strength 3581b, Who 4310 has defied 7185 413 Him without 7999a harm 7999a?

9:5
“[It is God] who removes 6275 the mountains 2022, they know 3045 not [how], When 834 He overturns 2015 them in His anger 639;

9:6
Who shakes 7264 the earth 776 out of its place 4725, And its pillars 5982 tremble 6426;

9:7
Who commands 559 the sun 2775a not to shine 2224, And sets 2856 a seal 2856 upon the stars 3556;

9:8
Who alone 905 stretches 5186 out the heavens 8064 And tramples 1869 down 1869 the waves 1116 of the sea 3220;

9:9
Who makes 6213a the Bear 5906, Orion 3685 and the Pleiades 3598, And the chambers 2315 of the south 8486;

9:10
Who does 6213a great 1419 things 1419, unfathomable 2714 369 5704, And wondrous 6381 works 6381 without 5704 369 number 4557.

9:11
“Were He to pass 5674a by me, I would not see 7200 Him; Were He to move 2498 past 2498 [me], I would not perceive 995 Him.

9:12
“Were He to snatch 2862 away 2862, who 4310 could restrain 7725 Him? Who 4310 could say 559 to Him, ‘What 4100 are You doing 6213a?’

9:13
¶ “God 433 will not turn 7725 back 7725 His anger 639; Beneath 8478 Him crouch 7817 the helpers 5826 of Rahab 7293.

9:14
“How 637 then 637 3588 can I answer 6030a Him, [And] choose 977 my words 1697 before 5973 Him?

9:15
“For though 518 I were right 6663, I could not answer 6030a; I would have to implore 2603a the mercy 2603a of my judge 8199.

9:16
“If 518 I called 7121 and He answered 6030a me, I could not believe 539 that He was listening 238 to my voice 6963.

9:17
“For He bruises 7779 me with a tempest 8183 And multiplies 7235a my wounds 6482 without 2600 cause 2600.

9:18
“He will not allow 5414 me to get 7725 my breath 7307, But saturates 7646 me with bitterness 4472.

9:19
“If 518 [it is a matter] of power 3581b, behold 2009, [He is] the strong 533 one 533! And if 518 [it is a matter] of justice 4941, who 4310 can summon 3259 Him?

9:20
“Though 518 I am righteous 6663, my mouth 6310 will condemn 7561 me; Though I am guiltless 8535, He will declare 6140 me guilty 6140.

9:21
“I am guiltless 8535; I do not take 3045 notice 3045 of myself 5315; I despise 3988a my life 2425b.

9:22
“It is [all] one 259; therefore 5921 3651 I say 559, ‘He destroys 3615 the guiltless 8535 and the wicked 7563.’

9:23
“If 518 the scourge 7752 kills 4191 suddenly 6597, He mocks 3932 the despair 4531a of the innocent 5355a.

9:24
“The earth 776 is given 5414 into the hand 3027 of the wicked 7563; He covers 3680 the faces 6440 of its judges 8199. If 518 [it is] not [He], then 645 who 4310 is it?

9:25
¶ “Now my days 3117 are swifter 7043 than 4480 a runner 7323; They flee 1272 away 1272, they see 7200 no 3808 good 2899b.

9:26
“They slip 2498 by like 5973 reed 16 boats 591, Like an eagle 5404 that swoops 2907 on its prey 400.

9:27
“Though 518 I say 559, ‘I will forget 7911 my complaint 7879, I will leave 5800a off my [sad] countenance 6440 and be cheerful 1082,’

9:28
I am afraid 3025 of all 3605 my pains 6094, I know 3045 that You will not acquit 5352 me.

9:29
“I am accounted wicked 7561, Why 4100 then 2088 should I toil 3021 in vain 1892?

9:30
“If 518 I should wash 7364 myself with snow 7950 And cleanse 2141 my hands 3709 with lye 1253a,

9:31
Yet 227 You would plunge 2881 me into the pit 7845, And my own clothes 8008 would abhor 8581 me.

9:32
“For [He is] not a man 376 as I am that I may answer 6030a Him, That we may go 935 to court 4941 together 3164a.

9:33
“There 3426 is no 3808 umpire 3198 between 996 us, Who may lay 7896 his hand 3027 upon us both 8147.

9:34
“Let Him remove 5493 His rod 7626 from me, And let not dread 367 of Him terrify 1204 me.

9:35
“[Then] I would speak 1696 and not fear 3372a Him; But I am not like 3651 that in myself.
