Job 8

1 Bildad sheweth God's justice in dealing with men according to their works. 8 He alledgeth antiquity to prove the certain destruction of the hypocrite. 20 He applieth God's just dealings to Job.

 8:1 Then Bildad 1085 the Shuhite 7747 answered 6030a,

 8:2 “How 575 long 5704 will you say 4448a these 428 things 428, And the words 561 of your mouth 6310 be a mighty 3524 wind 7307?

 8:3 “Does God 410 pervert 5791 justice 4941? Or 518 does the Almighty 7706b pervert 5791 what 6664 is right 6664?

 8:4 “If 518 your sons 1121 sinned 2398 against Him, Then He delivered 7971 them into the power 3027 of their transgression 6588.

 8:5 “If 518 you would seek 7836 God 410 And implore 2603a the compassion 2603a of the Almighty 7706b,

 8:6 If 518 you are pure 2134 and upright 3477, Surely 3588 now 6258 He would rouse 5782 Himself for you And restore 7999a your righteous 6664 estate 5116a.

 8:7 “Though your beginning 7225 was insignificant 4705, Yet your end 319 will increase 7685 greatly 3966.

 8:8 ¶ “Please 4994 inquire 7592 of past 7223 generations 1755, And consider 3559 the things 2714 searched 2714 out by their fathers 1.

 8:9 “For we are [only] of yesterday 8543 and know 3045 nothing 3808, Because 3588 our days 3117 on earth 776 are as a shadow 6738.

 8:10 “Will they not teach 3384 you [and] tell 559 you, And bring 3318 forth 3318 words 4405 from their minds 3820?

 8:11 ¶ “Can the papyrus 1573 grow 1342 up without 3808 a marsh 1207? Can the rushes 260 grow 7685 without 1097 water 4325?

 8:12 “While it is still 5750 green 3 [and] not cut 6998 down 6998, Yet it withers 3001 before 6440 any 3605 [other] plant 2682.

 8:13 “So 3651 are the paths 734 of all 3605 who 7911 forget 7911 God 410; And the hope 8615b of the godless 2611 will perish 6,

 8:14 Whose 834 confidence 3689 is fragile 6962b, And whose trust 4009 a spider’s 5908 web 1004.

 8:15 “He trusts 8172 in his house 1004, but it does not stand 5975; He holds 2388 fast 2388 to it, but it does not endure 6965.

 8:16 “He thrives 7373a before 6440 the sun 8121, And his shoots 3127 spread 3318 out over 5921 his garden 1593.

 8:17 “His roots 8328 wrap 5440 around 5440 a rock 1530 pile 1530, He grasps 270 a house 1004 of stones 68.

 8:18 “If 518 he is removed 1104 from his place 4725, Then it will deny 3584 him, [saying], ‘I never 3808 saw 7200 you.’

 8:19 “Behold 2005, this 1931 is the joy 4885 of His way 1870; And out of the dust 6083 others 312 will spring 6779.

 8:20 “Lo 2005, God 410 will not reject 3988a [a man of] integrity 8535, Nor 3808 will He support 2388 3027 the evildoers 7489a.

 8:21 “He will yet 5704 fill 4390 your mouth 6310 with laughter 7814 And your lips 8193 with shouting 8643.

 8:22 “Those who hate 8130 you will be clothed 3847 with shame 1322, And the tent 168 of the wicked 7563 will be no 369 longer.”
