 17:1 ¶
The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, [and] with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the tablet of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars; |
|
 17:1 ¶
The sinº
of Judahº
[is] writtenºº
with a penº
of iron,º
[and] with the pointº
of a diamond:º
[it is] gravenºº
uponº
the tableº
of their heart,º
and upon the hornsº
of your altars;º |
 17:2
whilst their children remember their altars and their Asherim by the green trees upon the high hills. |
|
 17:2
Whilst their childrenº
rememberºº
their altarsº
and their grovesº
byº
the greenº
treesº
uponº
the highº
hills.º |
 17:3
O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures for a spoil, [and] thy high places, because of sin, throughout all thy borders. |
|
 17:3
O my mountainº
in the field,º
I will giveºº
thy substanceº
[and] allº
thy treasuresº
to the spoil,º
[and] thy high placesº
for sin,º
throughout allº
thy borders.º |
 17:4
And thou, even of thyself, shalt discontinue from thy heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fire in mine anger which shall burn for ever. |
|
 17:4
And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinueºº
from thine heritageºº
thatº
I gaveºº
thee; and I will cause thee to serveººº
thine enemiesºº
in the landº
whichº
thou knowestºº
not:º
forº
ye have kindledºº
a fireº
in mine anger,º
[which] shall burnºº
forº
ever.ºº |
 17:5 ¶
Thus saith Jehovah: Cursed is the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from Jehovah. |
|
 17:5 ¶
Thusº
saithºº
the LORD;º
Cursedºº
[be] the manº
thatº
trustethºº
in man,º
and makethºº
fleshº
his arm,º
and whose heartº
departethºº
fromº
the LORD.º |
 17:6
For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, a salt land and not inhabited. |
|
 17:6
For he shall beº
like the heathºº
in the desert,º
and shall notº
seeºº
whenº
goodº
cometh;ºº
but shall inhabitºº
the parched placesº
in the wilderness,º
[in] a saltº
landº
and notº
inhabited.ºº |
 17:7
Blessed is the man that trusteth in Jehovah, and whose trust Jehovah is. |
|
 17:7
Blessedºº
[is] the manº
thatº
trustethºº
in the LORD,º
and whose hopeº
the LORDº
is.º |
 17:8
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, that spreadeth out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat cometh, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. |
|
 17:8
For he shall beº
as a treeº
plantedºº
byº
the waters,º
and [that] spreadeth outºº
her rootsº
byº
the river,º
and shall notº
seeºº
whenº
heatº
cometh,ºº
but her leafº
shall beº
green;º
and shall notº
be carefulºº
in the yearº
of drought,º
neitherº
shall ceaseºº
from yieldingººº
fruit.º |
 17:9 ¶
The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? |
|
 17:9 ¶
The heartº
[is] deceitfulº
above allºº
[things], and desperately wicked:ºº
whoº
can knowºº
it? |
 17:10
I, Jehovah, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. |
|
 17:10
Iº
the LORDº
searchºº
the heart,º
[I] tryºº
the reins,º
even to giveºº
every manº
according to his ways,º
[and] according to the fruitº
of his doings.º |
 17:11
As the partridge that sitteth on [eggs] which she hath not laid, so is he that getteth riches, and not by right; in the midst of his days they shall leave him, and at his end he shall be a fool. |
|
 17:11
[As] the partridgeº
sittethºº
[on eggs], and hatchethºº
[them] not;º
[so] he that gettethºº
riches,º
and notº
by right,º
shall leaveºº
them in the midstº
of his days,º
and at his endº
shall beº
a fool.º |
 17:12 ¶
A glorious throne, [set] on high from the beginning, is the place of our sanctuary. |
|
 17:12 ¶
A gloriousº
highº
throneº
from the beginningºº
[is] the placeº
of our sanctuary.º |
 17:13
O Jehovah, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be put to shame. They that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken Jehovah, the fountain of living waters. |
|
 17:13
O LORD,º
the hopeº
of Israel,º
allº
that forsakeºº
thee shall be ashamed,ºº
[and] they that departº
fromº
meºº
shall be writtenºº
in the earth,º
becauseº
they have forsakenººº
the LORD,º
the fountainº
of livingº
waters.º |
 17:14
Heal me, O Jehovah, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. |
|
 17:14
Healºº
me, O LORD,º
and I shall be healed;ºº
saveºº
me, and I shall be saved:ºº
forº
thouº
[art] my praise.º |
 17:15 ¶
Behold, they say unto me, Where is the word of Jehovah? let it come now. |
|
 17:15 ¶
Behold,º
theyº
sayºº
untoº
me, Whereº
[is] the wordº
of the LORD?º
let it comeºº
now.º |
 17:16
As for me, I have not hastened from being a shepherd after thee; neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was before thy face. |
|
 17:16
As for me, Iº
have notº
hastenedºº
from [being] a pastorººº
to followº
thee: neitherº
have I desiredºº
the woefulºº
day;º
thouº
knowest:ºº
that which cameº
outº
ofº
my lipsº
wasº
[right] beforeºº
thee.º |
 17:17
Be not a terror unto me: thou art my refuge in the day of evil. |
|
 17:17
Beº
notº
a terrorº
unto me: thouº
[art] my hopeº
in the dayº
of evil.º |
 17:18
Let them be put to shame that persecute me, but let not me be put to shame; let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed; bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction. |
|
 17:18
Let them be confoundedºº
that persecuteºº
me, but let notº
meº
be confounded:ºº
let themº
be dismayed,ºº
but let notº
meº
be dismayed:ºº
bringºº
uponº
them the dayº
of evil,º
and destroyºº
them with doubleº
destruction.º |
 17:19 ¶
Thus said Jehovah unto me: Go, and stand in the gate of the children of the people, whereby the kings of Judah come in, and by which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem; |
|
 17:19 ¶
Thusº
saidºº
the LORDº
untoº
me; Goºº
and standºº
in the gateº
of the childrenº
of the people,º
wherebyº
the kingsº
of Judahº
come in,ºº
and by the whichº
they go out,ºº
and in allº
the gatesº
of Jerusalem;º |
 17:20
and say unto them, Hear ye the word of Jehovah, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates: |
|
 17:20
And sayºº
untoº
them, Hearºº
ye the wordº
of the LORD,º
ye kingsº
of Judah,º
and allº
Judah,º
and allº
the inhabitantsºº
of Jerusalem,º
that enter inºº
by theseº
gates:º |
 17:21
Thus saith Jehovah, Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; |
|
 17:21
Thusº
saithºº
the LORD;º
Take heedºº
to yourselves,º
and bearºº
noº
burdenº
on the sabbathº
day,º
nor bringºº
[it] inº
by the gatesº
of Jerusalem;º |
 17:22
neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work: but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers. |
|
 17:22
Neitherº
carry forthºº
a burdenº
out of your housesºº
on the sabbathº
day,º
neitherº
doºº
ye anyº
work,º
but hallowºº
yeº
the sabbathº
day,º
asº
I commandedºº
your fathers.º |
 17:23
But they hearkened not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, and might not receive instruction. |
|
 17:23
But they obeyedºº
not,º
neitherº
inclinedººº
their ear,º
but madeº
their neckº
stiff,ºº
that they might notº
hear,ºº
norº
receiveºº
instruction.º |
 17:24
And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith Jehovah, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but to hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein; |
|
 17:24
And it shall come to pass,º
ifº
ye diligentlyºº
hearkenºº
untoº
me, saithºº
the LORD,º
to bringºº
inº
noº
burdenº
through the gatesº
of thisº
cityº
on the sabbathº
day,º
but hallowººº
the sabbathº
day,º
to doºº
noºº
workº
therein; |
 17:25
then shall there enter in by the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city shall remain for ever. |
|
 17:25
Then shall there enterºº
into the gatesº
of thisº
cityº
kingsº
and princesº
sittingºº
uponº
the throneº
of David,º
ridingºº
in chariotsº
and on horses,º
they,º
and their princes,º
the menº
of Judah,º
and the inhabitantsºº
of Jerusalem:º
and thisº
cityº
shall remainºº
for ever.º |
 17:26
And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places round about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the lowland, and from the hill-country, and from the South, bringing burnt-offerings, and sacrifices, and meal-offerings, and frankincense, and bringing [sacrifices of] thanksgiving, unto the house of Jehovah. |
|
 17:26
And they shall comeºº
from the citiesºº
of Judah,º
and from the places aboutºº
Jerusalem,º
and from the landºº
of Benjamin,º
and fromº
the plain,º
and fromº
the mountains,º
and fromº
the south,º
bringingºº
burnt offerings,º
and sacrifices,º
and meat offerings,º
and incense,º
and bringingºº
sacrifices of praise,º
unto the houseº
of the LORD.º |
 17:27
But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden and enter in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched. |
|
 17:27
But ifº
ye will notº
hearkenºº
untoº
me to hallowººº
the sabbathº
day,º
and notº
to bearºº
a burden,º
even enteringº
inºº
at the gatesº
of Jerusalemº
on the sabbathº
day;º
then will I kindleºº
a fireº
in the gatesº
thereof, and it shall devourºº
the palacesº
of Jerusalem,º
and it shall notº
be quenched.ºº |
