 24:1 ¶ Jehovah showed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs set before the temple of Jehovah, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

 24:1 ¶ The LORDº shewedºº me, and, behold,º twoº basketsº of figsº [were] setºº beforeº the templeº of the LORD,º afterº thatº Nebuchadrezzarº kingº of Babylonº had carried away captiveººº Jeconiahº the sonº of Jehoiakimº kingº of Judah,º and the princesº of Judah,º withº the carpentersº and smiths,º from Jerusalem,ºº and had broughtºº them to Babylon.º

 24:2 One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.

 24:2 Oneº basketº [had] veryº goodº figs,º [even] like the figsº [that are] first ripe:º and the otherº basketº [had] veryº naughtyº figs,º whichº could notº be eaten,ºº they were so bad.ºº

 24:3 Then said Jehovah unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, that cannot be eaten, they are so bad.

 24:3 Then saidºº the LORDº untoº me, Whatº seestºº thou,º Jeremiah?º And I said,ºº Figs;º the goodº figs,º veryº good;º and the evil,º veryº evil,º thatº cannotº be eaten,ºº they are so evil.ºº

 24:4 ¶ And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

 24:4 ¶ Again the wordº of the LORDº cameº untoº me, saying,ºº

 24:5 Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so will I regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good.

 24:5 Thusº saithºº the LORD,º the Godº of Israel;º Like theseº goodº figs,º soº will I acknowledgeººº them that are carried away captiveº of Judah,º whomº I have sentºº out ofº thisº placeº into the landº of the Chaldeansº for [their] good.º

 24:6 For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.

 24:6 For I will setºº mine eyesº uponº them for good,º and I will bring them againºº toº thisº land:º and I will buildºº them, and notº pull [them] down;ºº and I will plantºº them, and notº pluck [them] up.ºº

 24:7 And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Jehovah: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God; for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.

 24:7 And I will giveºº them an heartº to knowºº me, thatº Iº [am] the LORD:º and they shall beº my people,º and Iº will beº their God:º forº they shall returnºº untoº me with their wholeº heart.º

 24:8 ¶ And as the bad figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so bad, surely thus saith Jehovah, So will I give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt,

 24:8 ¶ And as the evilº figs,º whichº cannotº be eaten,ºº they are so evil;ºº surelyº thusº saithºº the LORD,º Soº will I giveººº Zedekiahº the kingº of Judah,º and his princes,º and the residueº of Jerusalem,º that remainºº in thisº land,º and them that dwellºº in the landº of Egypt:º

 24:9 I will even give them up to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil; to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.

 24:9 And I will deliverºº them to be removedººº into allº the kingdomsº of the earthº for [their] hurt,º [to be] a reproachº and a proverb,º a tauntº and a curse,º in allº placesº whitherºº I shall driveºº them.

 24:10 And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.

 24:10 And I will sendººº the sword,ºº the famine,º and the pestilence,º among them, tillº they be consumedºº from offºº the landº thatº I gaveºº unto them and to their fathers.º
